Title: EM fix tool
Post by: Retropin on November 26, 2009, 11:09:06 PM
Playing around with the DANCING DOLLS and it continually blows fuses on start up.. Its hard to diagnose a start up fault if the start up sequence keeps stopping after 5 secs...
anyway, i came up with this really simple tool.. its just a momentary 15A micro switch that goes across the fuse holder... has a length of 1M for the wires and if held down with thumb you can control when and for how long the start up sequence goes on for. With the lengths of wire from it you can also walk round the back of the machine and watch everything going through its sequence. Start and then stop etc
Works a treat - dancing Dolls is not resetting scores due to the coil not pulling in properly in the back box - would never have seen this without this tool or someone else to turn machine on and off for me - not to mention the constant fuse changes or trip switch resets.
Very hard to blow an EM up, but if switch starts to get warm in the hand then rest it for 30 secs and then continue... could also be used to simulate leaf switch closures if put across the leafs..

well.. here it is - patent pending

My mate (who shall remain nameless) achieves a similar result by plugging and unplugging the machine into an extension cord while moving around the machine @.@
