I had a GREAT day - I think this was fantastic for pinball and there was a LOT of Sydneysiders attending this. Even when we left at 3 there were people still arriving. The competition machines seemed to be busy most of the day as well. Yes - its an auction tomorrow, yes a number of machines werent operating BUT they were going around getting them operating as the day rolled out. Everyone I bumped into there ( and there was a lot of familiar faces ) said how good it was for pinball, the exposure leading up was good AND they had ABC2 filiming there today as well.
Congrats to the organisers ^^^
-
WOW !
Thanks for the pix guys ! Looks like a great setup..
Please upload more - and if there are any BIIIIG videos - We can host them on our server - no probs

I was about to say, has Mark seen that Rocky backglass? $$(
Great stuff....Really hope to make it next year..

Sorry no photos but just wanted to say hurrah for expo. It was a great day and i finally got to meet lots of guys from AP. What a great presence we had!!! $#$. Gav's stall was amazing and i got to see nino's playfield ^^^ ... almost there mate!! so many people of all ages playing some great games. A big congratulations to the coconut island boys and that was a game i thoroughly enjoyed!!!
My only issue with it was that a lot of the games were breaking down and some in poor condition (weak flippers, breaking down etc)but what a great day. Dont know if i'll go to auction (prolly not) but am very interested in finding out what they go for!!
-
Here's some :
-
Great pics. F14 Tomcat looks to be in great condition.
-
sorry about my head in that shot wotto...lol
-
great to see some pics thanks guys
-
There were some nice machines there including these :
-
Looking at the pics, and the great time you all had at the expo makes me wish i had been there *%* Ill try to get to a meet of this calliber at some stage, well done all involved!!
This can only be a positive with collectors and enthusiasts of pinball....10/10!
-
My opinion.....you paid 5 bucks to see alot of pinballs, and play some of them as much as you wanted. Bargain! Got to play Cactus Canyon, 24, and Sterns newest release NBA. 24 is a very good game, NBA didnt grab me though. Got to play Coconut Island as well, give these guys heaps of credit for making their own cool pinny, and the decals Spacies did look as good as any commercially made pin.
The best bit was catching-up and meeting fellow pinheads. The newy guys had a ball talking shit on the way, whilst there, and on the way home.
Nothing negative from me, it was all good. Others may have expected more, but to me it was exactly what I expected of this event.
and I got to meet Matt!
oh lil sad there wasnt an EBD there lol

Wow what a great event, thanks for uploading the pics, keep them coming...
-
spewing i didnt go now.
looks great
my sword of fury would have looked great in there as it is in near perfect condition.
there were some pins there which i totaly forgot existed.
you would think they would all be in near mint condition, but some scratched and dirty pins are better than no pins at all.
-
Looks as thought it would be fun to be there.
I see in some of the pics the AP shirts. They seem to stand out.
What do people think of them now that they have seen them in the flesh so to speak.
I am sorry i couldn't make it.(Siggghhhhh)
Maybe the next one for me.
-
Have some more pix bu6t it's time for bed (((
Will load them up tomorrow....inlcuding the important drinking in the pub shots :lol
-
Thanks for the pictures so far guys - really appreciated for those of us unable to make it.
I'm really pleased at the turnout, and the feedback has been very positive with regard to the event. CI looks to be the "show stealer" and we have been well represented - all the good looking guys are wearing AP T-Shirts.
:D
Keep the pictures and reports coming.

Heres a few more for ya's

Now - I have seen some pretty funky playing action and 'playing stances' in my time , but Gav.....you take the cake with this super cool stretch effort !!

-
Great pics there wotto
Thanks seeing that world cup really showed me how bad mine is lol might have to drag that out of storage soon

.....What he just said!! :D
Now im sorry i didnt go.. Cam wanted me to go, and take my Vortex machine there. Well it turned out i could've gone after all coz the band gigs i had got canned at the last minute which REALLY pissed me off.
I bet the CI was the show stealer as well. would've LOVED to see that one in action.
Keep the pics coming.. #*# #*#

My opinion.....you paid 5 bucks to see alot of pinballs, and play some of them as much as you wanted. Bargain!
Could not agree more about the value mate $5.00- sheesh ! How cheap was that !
Got to play 24, and Sterns newest release NBA. 24 is a very good game, NBA didnt grab me though.
24 - Couldnt get into it as it was hard to hear the machines so I was just belting the ball around and kicking Rollerballs arse on it :lol, its certainly a game U would need to know the rules of and be able to hear in order to play it properly, but it 'felt' good , the sniper targets were cool.
I actually liked the NBA Jam machine , and I dont like Basketball at all - after having read a lot of negatives about new Stern titles I thought it played REALLY smooth and had good flipper feel - the loop shots were fast and that kickout hole that shoots ( airballs ) the ball up to the basket from the middle of the playfield , like a long 3 point shot, was insane
Only negative is the backglasses- I HATE real photo backglasses - they REALLY cheapen the look to me.
The best bit was catching-up and meeting fellow pinheads.
Again - fantastic aspect of it, got to catch up with Pinfan, Felixthe dog and many many others I hadnt met before......oh and you of course Sinbad #*#
Nothing negative from me, it was all good. Others may have expected more, but to me it was exactly what I expected of this event.
Funny - I said those EXACT words yesterday at the event - it was EXACTLY what I expected for a 1st time event
-
There just wasnt enough time to meet-up with people Wotto, as we had to take off at 3pm. I look forward to more of these events, and like Tony said AP and AA guys got on really well. To be honest I wouldnt expect anything different because we all share the same passion, and really get a kick out of promoting it. I left expo feeling more energised for the hobby. Man I wanted that original Star Trek, its bloody nice and know it will get good $$$ (how good is the overlay!).
*%*
-
I feel the same after the Expo Greg . It's got me wanting some more pins more than ever . I think it would be the same for everyone who attended and for those who attended that weren't already into the hobby it would've certainly got them buzzing with excitement .... that's gotta be a good thing !!!
One thing I was impressed with was the age range of the crowd . There were some guys there who would've been old enough to be my grandfather right down to the very young .... Jeez one bloke I seen had a young baby strapped to his chest in one of those harness things . He was bashing away at the pin and the bub was watching the ball and all that was going on . Talk about starting em early .... lol
Was great to meet fellow AP members ..... felix , Rollerball ,Wotto ,ajlaird ,millsy, illawarra tony and more (sorry can't remember everyone but I'm sure after a few more Expo's it'll be easier)
-
Expo would have been heaps better if Wotto wasnt kicking my ass all day...thanks for that mate...
well done to everyone that organised the Expo...
Fantastic job..
-

Completely agree with you Wotto. I really liked the NBA machine and I'm not into basketball either.
I agree about the backglass too, but then I've never thought much of any backglass since about 1982. %.%
-
Gav's stall early in the day - check out the look on Jim's face (Gav's son) :lol
-
There was so much going on, I got distracted from using the camera, but I took some video I'll post shortly. I did take one picture because (due to my odd sense of humour) I thought it funny... better than a blue screen of death I suppose...
-
What a motley crue part 1 - 2 real nice guys - Rob (Ford Fairlaine) and Dave (furballx) from the forum at the CI stall
-
What a motley crue part 2 :lol left to right - Rollerball, Wotto, Ford Fairlaine and Michael Shalhoub
-
Was real nice meeting Nick (pinnies4me) finally - something is funny :lol
Of coarse even before I had shook his hands he was putting s**t on me about broken playfield glasses :lol
-
Rob looking VERY serious playing some nice 1960s pinball *%*

Just goes to show you *%* A group of AP and AA lads enjoying a few beers together - top bunch of fellas ^^^
-
Michael and his lovely wife Anne and the dinner - Mike thrived at this - the guy just oozes enthusiasm ^^^
-
Gav at the dinner with his family - was a real highlight for me to finally meet this guy face to face ^^^
-
Two very rare pinballs here in Australia - both add-a-balls - a Gottlieb Pin Up 1975 and Fun Park from 1968
-
Pinball Expo organiser and all round nice guy Rian (on the right)....sorry the flash didn't work @.@
Note that Rian is only 27 years old - what an achievement and it was fantastic to see him really enjoy himself
-
This is Petershame Town Hall - where the event was held. Real nice venue and very art deco inside.
-
Great pics Tony. Wish i could have gone
-
This will give you some idea of the crowd - it was insane! Over 1,000 people through the door on Saturday and my ears were ringing like I ad been to a gig after leaving (seriously)
-
Lots of kids and once again you will notice how many people there are
-
OK - last one - some random guy in a random shirt with my great mate of 22 years Michael Shalhoub
-
Thanks Tony - You really captured the event very well - I feel like I was there !
Well done mate !
-
Yeah Thanks Tony..looks like every one had a ball.
-
Thanks for posting these Tony! A great day was had by all!!
-
The only odd thing was that every time Tony went near a game, the game owner would jump out and ask him not to touch the playfield glass...
-
Here are some shots my wife took. I was too busy having fun to use my camera! %.%
(http://)
-
Nick - I see the likeness between yourself and Brad Pitt
Sadly, that's not me. I had to stay and look after Angie who was ill, and was forced to send my (much less good looking) stunt double.
-
Here are some shots of the Stern NBA machine.
That's me playing the NBA and alongside me is Danny (Fair Dinkum Dan from AA) playing the Stern 24.

Great pics Tony! Saturday was a real buzz for me, and I came home very happy/energised for pinball.

Great pics Tony! Saturday was a real buzz for me, and I came home very happy/energised for pinball.
That's the general consensus - Great to hear that the hobby has been promoted with such a positive vibe ^^^
-
Should of also mentioned that on the right of the Lucky Hand is the as-rare Freefall which is the add-a-ball of Skyjump
-
Great work tony really enjoyed your pics and commentary . Thanks heaps
-

I did actually get a few games on the Lucky hand towards the very end of Saturday - it had a slight lean to the right, which guaranteed ball drain each time.... but what a nice machine! I REALLY enjoyed playing this game, and this particular one was in beautiful condition - awesome game to own
-
Did anyone get photos of the BH I've heard so much about there??! :D
-
I didnt get much chance to take pics, so theres a real lack of them from me... but view from my stall from left to right real early in the day - the Star Trek is still waiting to be set up as is Rolling Stones and the AP stall still has a lot of shirts! LOL!!

Oh come on! Andrew you know that wasn't me *.*
Was waiting for Nick to notice that on Saturday :lol
The glass was cracked when the game arrived and not being safety glass (used for the first time in 1964 on playfield glasses) it was from the lockdown bar to the top of the playfield around lunchtime. Funny that Jason Douglas who owns the game didn't seem to mind.
-
Was waiting for Nick to notice that on Saturday :lol
Oh, sh!+, too busy with CI and t-shirt sales - what a missed opportunity!
I meant to get back to you about that film too Tony, but got sidetracked, sorry - here's the link anyway http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0217869/

If i had a dollar for every time the door fell out and onto the floor i would have made an absolute motza.
Youre right though Tony - i saw some kids undo the door and have it fall to the floor while jason walked past - he didnt bat an eyelid... the mother on the other hand... well she went into panic mode - LOL!!

Nah, really happened, just wasn't Tony - but someone else owned up to leaning on it and making the crack go right from the bottom to the top of the playfield glass.
-
So was the guy who broke it taken out and flogged????

Great photos everyone, I wish I could have been there !!!

I see in some of the pics the AP shirts. They seem to stand out.
What do people think of them now that they have seen them in the flesh so to speak.
Well I am STILL wearing mine 4 days later ^^^
The only criticism I could note is that the 'fine' print ( like the words PINBALLand FORUM in the bumper image on the front and same on the back ) didnt print too well. Lesson for next run I guess.
Other than that - all good. #*#
-
So was the guy who broke it taken out and flogged????
He didn't own up! Not to the owner of it, anyway, just to us later.
-
Congrats to Rian for putting on a super effort ^^^. Thanks Guys for posting all the photos and it's good to put a noame to a face. It's great to hear so many positive vibes here and when there is the next Sydney expo I'll make sure my work roster is a whole lot better organised a year in front *%*
-
Here is a really nice bally Fireball with a very rare add a ball of Jacks Open - this one is Lucky Hand
The Lucky Hand was used in the Final of the Pinball Competition, I was very impressed to see an EM instead of an SS although I think some of the entrants were none-to-pleased. I felt sorry for one guy, who tilted the machine at 99,300 and tilted it again on his next attempt. It looked like he was going to post a very high score but it was not to be. There was also a guy that seemed to have sex with the machine - lots of grunting, thrusting and shaking - it was hilarious to watch. The winner of the Pinball Competition, with the highest score of 120k, is a member of AA - I believe a JackBot machine was the trophy.
