Varathane is a product that is not typically found in Australia. If your game originally came from the USA, then it is a possibility. Varathane is a water based product, so you could try a variety of products to remove it. Maybe start with White Spirits and work up to Goof Off. Be REALLY CAREFUL with Goof Off. It will remove paintwork and touch up work if you are not careful.
