everything works fine but once the ball goes down the chute it continues to score 1000"s over and over.

narrow it down to what scores 1000 points on the playfield.  Outlane switches?

Simon,

As Rod says there is a switch on the playfield that is closed (or very very close) that shouldn't be....it is one of them that scores 1000 points.

You mention the targets are playing up....do they score 1000 each? If they do then it's a good bet that one of the switchs under the playfield on the drop targets is the villan.

no 1000's  every thing is either  500's 100 or 10's

If definately NO 1000's then it must be a bonus feature that is awarding 2X 500 points, but i would expect the 100's to move also .. unless of course they by passed all the 100's to score 1000 by just impulsing 1000 reel... you need to look at your schematic at 1000 coil, work back and find the common of that and chute relay checking all in the path
