To trade or not to trade
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:08:52 AM »
I have been contacted by a local collector who is keen on my IM, he wants to trade a vn IJ (Williams) for it. IJ is one game I do want to own and a game I really enjoy playing.
I have had more than my share of fun with IM and I wouldn't mind a change, although I know I will miss it at some stage down the track and the odds of me finding another one would be remote at best.
Decisions, decisions.........

good question, haven't played IJ much but seems a good game, one of those classics that hold value.

if you traded, do trade and cash as think yours is valued around the $6 - $6.5k, but the likelihood of finding another HUO IM will be slim as only about 40 in Aus.

Crusierman had trouble moving an IJ for a little while and ended up selling for around $5.3k I think

Ironman is worth $4500 to $5000 tops imo in std used form.
(Same money Gameworks were selling low usage Demo I,M models/them for, up here 18 months ago)
Mods can be valued n added on top if the machine has them.

Indy Jones is worth between $4000 and $5000 depending on condition etc.

I say keep the I.M. Hard to get one later.
Will u regret selling it.? You are going from a fast machine to a slower machine, but std to widebody ofcourse.
Indy is deeper, much deeper with the latest roms. Go n play the Indy jones for a few hours.
Behind every garage door could be a pinball collectors

Where are you going to find a IM for those 4.5-5k? Let me know and I will buy 2 of them.
Good luck with that pipe dream.
Played Indy heaps, I know it back to front.

It's all personal choice, but no way would I trade an IM for IJ. How often do you see an IM come up for sale ? IJ comes up for sale every second week.
IM is a better game too IMO.

That's exactly what Gameworx was selling them for 18 months, 2 years ago. $4500 cash on the button for Euro demo IM Sterns.

I added $500 to cost, cause $4500 was a bargain at the time. Its up to Joe Public to determine if the IM machines, used are worth anymore or less in 2013.
Obviously in QLD, because every man n his dog knows what Gameworx was selling them for, that's the honest price I gave.
People in other places may pay more ?

That is not what Gameworx were selling IM for, avatar yes , IM nope and yes it was a bargain at the time and was priced accordingly to get them out the door with no fuss, a quick sale if you will. No-one wanted either of these games back then.
You spoke to gameworx, you ummed and ahhed over avatar, surely they told you these things.
Besides that was then and this is now, IM is almost impossible to find, the popularity has increased and so has the price.
It is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it not what you think it was worth 18 months ago.
Thanks for your input.

Avatar was offered at more money actually by GWorx than the IM because it was new. I looked at all the machines.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on 2nd hand pricing. Prices will vary a lot ofcourse.  ^^^

Now I know you are just speaking crap, they were all new machines. That is utter nonsense.
I was there when they unloaded them, didn't see you anywhere near the joint, there were 2 IM games and one Avatar you never set eyes on that sold on that afternon.

I gave an honest opinion.
I spoke to the owner and also went there. We will agree to disagree.
Many people in QLD know exactly what the situation was. Hence the $3,000 saving compared to BNIB prices !
