I have seen a few threads on moving pins in your car and people wanting to know dimensions.
Since I am drawing the 90's Bally / WMS Cabinet I have simulated a backbox fold down for people to keep as a guide
It's in millimetres so for imperial dimensions divide by 25.4 for inches, but roughly 29 1/4 inches high and 51 1/2 inches long.
Hope it helps

I drive a BA falcon wagon because pins don't fit in a commodore wagon. So far I've squeezed in wpc data east and sterns but gottlieb system 3 don't fit. I can detach the head box slide it down the Playfield glass and squeeze it in.
-
My 2010 Santa Fe can not fit boxed Sterns because there is a overhead DVD player for the kids. If the player was not there the boxes can squeeze in. Any unboxed machines can squeeze in with room to spare.
-
VE Station wagon no good for DMD games.
Not sure on measurements on VF, but I'd imagine it would be similar.
Put quite a few different machines in to a Territory wagon, they fit well.
-
A boxed machine is a definite no in the BA wagon a wpc dmd and data east only just fit if I sit the cabinet on the door catch it jams lol
-
The old shaped Commodore wagon e.g. VY will fit anything in there. Gtb Sys 3 machines are a bit tight but will go in as does a Capcom machine. I know Peter/Gorgar has put a few NIB machines, still in their box, in the back of his Commodore wagon. The Commodore Sportswagons are no good.
My VY Wagon is showing signs of it's age but I will hold onto it purely as a machine mover unless I get something like a Territory.
Pajeros are a bit of a PITA as the back seats don't fold down perfectly flat so you need to pack up the back end a bit.
-
90's Bally Williams and earlier 80's Bally SS fit into a 1989 Subaru Forrester
-
Yep VY/VZ Commodores fit all machines in including NIB.

With Ford packing up manufacturing in Australia, you should hang on to it, it may become a collectors piece %.%

A BA Falcon shits over a VY/VZ commodore. Better build quality, more power and overall more refined.
I've had both and worked for both companies. Holden vs Ford mentality is simply how people are socialised. Nothing wrong with the Ford I can assure you!
Thanks for the dimension guide.
-
This was never a Ford v Holden thread just what car can fit a pinball in *%*
Peter
-
Nothing wrong with the Ford apart from the fact you cant get all types of pinball machines in the back so it is no good.
-
don't use a micro car %.%
-
just don't go playing pinball with the car with a pinball in the car

%.% Props to fitting the head box in there with millimetres to spare. He must have seen that Stargate with a price too good to drive away from.
A melbourne dealer once delivered a machine to me in a Renault Koleos. It fit the pin and his 6'8" frame in surprisingly easy. Plenty of vehicles will fit a pinball in the back of them.

That is typical of todays society-catch it on camera and post instead of trying to prevent future incidents. Piss funny though. Bet that cost a lot of money to play that game %.%
Oh yeah and have shipped all wondrous size pins and bits in my VY wagon also. Need the limo tint on it to hide the prize!

This is my EM transporter.
Looking at upgrading for DMD,s

Tight fit, but it's in there! Away you go

Best thing about a wagon is that rain, hail or shine, the machine is as safe as it can be in there.

Subaru Forrester is the same (plus will fit a Capcom)
-
Here's my 2000 model Camry wagon with a Card Whiz in it :D
I can fit most pins in there, even had a couple of widebodies in there in the past (Roller Disco and Stellar Wars)
I havent tried it but i dont think a DMD game with a fold down headbox will fit (i did measure one up once with the head folded down, tape measure said NO lol)
I usually pull the spare tyre and jack out from its compartment under the floor before doing this and put them in beside or behind the game.. no point in tempting fate :lol

Every time its new car time, I have to come up with reasons to convince my wife why a Liberty or Impreza etc won't suit her, and coincidentally, handy to collect largish things from time to time.....might be a hard sell for the next one as she loves the new XV %$%

Crewman Ute. Fits anything as long as it does not rain !
-

I transported my StarWars Trilogy home in the back of an 2003 X-Trail, with the back seats down it fit perfectly.
-
Quick mention a 2008 commodore station wagon is no go for transporting a dmd without removing the gearbox. Bugger.

'96 Ford XG Panel Van.
Perfect for pins in all weather. Not sure if it would fit a Hercules, but anything else pretty much fits with ease.

Marty, Anything that gets up that mountain has got my vote!

+1.. Must get cold up there in winter ()

I got a nose bleed

WOT about SUVs? Forester OK, Territory OK, any other? $!&
-
Anyone tried a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
-
I put a WMS wide body in a Subaru forester no probs, STD in a Rav4 easy,
most SUV should be ok, the only issue i got caught was when putting a pin in a honda CRV you have to remove the back seat, the rear seat does not fold flat, rear seat folds down then you lift it forward, sort of curls up against the back of the front seat
-

Santa Fe, no problems.
