Charlies Angels Pop Bumpers

(1/2) > >>

Pinballrocks:
Hi All,

Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I have always had very weak pop bumpers on my Charlies Angles.
I have cleaned all contacts and lubricated all metal pivot points.

Is there something else i should be checking or doing?

Hoping someone can shed some light

Cheers Paul

Strangeways:
First thing - Never lubricate moving parts on a SS and later machine. The pop bumper could be weak due to the coil sleeve, worn plunger or years of lubrication. Check to see if the rod and ring moves up and down without any friction. Then clean the plungers and replace the coil sleeves.

Before any of this, ensure the gap is correct on the switch, and that the spoon is correctly aligned with the pop bumper skirt.

Thanks I will check this out as soon as i get a chance. :-)

From memory the Gottlieb pop bumper rods on their rings were about 1/8" longer than other manufacturers. When people mistakenly replace the ring/rods with shorter versions the consequence is weak pop bumper action because the ball doesn't go under the ring deep enough when the switch activates.
If you have another game, compare where the ball touches the pop bumper ring.

 will do thanks
