Fish Tales- Pissweak coil

Hey all,

FINALLY getting my pins back in the house so its time to sort out a few nigging issues

On my FT the coil that fires the ball out of the top eject hole ( up near the L-I-E lanes ) is really weak
When it fires, the ball literally just flops out of the hole.
I am unsure if this is 'normal' on FT machines or whether it should punch it out like a normal eject hole does?
The only thing I have done so far is replaced the coil sleeve, obviously with no result

It works pissweak in test also
The coil on there at the moment is an AE-26-1200

Wotto on my FT it shot it out pretty fast. Actually too fast because it would sometimes hit a rubber and bounce straight back in.

AE-26-1200 are low power coils, used in the pop bumpers. AE-24-900 might be the right one, I've seen those in ball popper type applications. Do you have the manual??

Wotto - Is the coil in test mode "Solenoid 09" ?

If so, it should be a AE-027-1200, and from the FTs Ive done, that should fire out no problems.

Couple of things to check ;

1 - Check the wires on the coil - are they loose ?
2 - Does the plunger move freely in the coil sleeve ?

I've seen these lubricated in the past, and in time they become sticky, also, if there is resistance with the plunger, it could be that the coil bracket itself is out of alignment. Prove this by loosening the 4 screws on the coil bracket - if it moves better, then the bracket has been bent, and needs to be straightened..

I just checked the manual and I have the correct coil in that spot so ....
Nino - will check that other stuff and come back.

Update ......

Checked all of what you said Nino and everything is neat & tidy.
Coil wires are not loose.
Plunger moves very easily in both directions , nothing blocking anything.
Bracket is not bent / warped.
I checked that the 'push-rod' that pushes the ball out is travelling as far as it can extend to - it is.

And it is still just weak.

Is the coil wrapper burnt or is it slightly "brown" ?

J127 Pin 1 on the driver board is where the Outhole coil is activated.. Re seat that connector - and check for a broken pin or loose wire in the IDC connector...

Sorry Wotto can't help/don't have a clue....but....

I'd try swapping in a spare coil just to see.
