Title: 1950s Hi-ball penny arcade game
Post by: ddstoys on January 12, 2016, 09:50:28 PM
Here's one of my latest restores roughly 1950s Hi-Ball

Insert your penny push in the knob similar to a pool table and release 5 ping pong balls using the lever on the left you try and launch the balls into the basket on the other side.

Wasn't sure what to do with this one it's had been painted a million times and by the looks was originally painted red as ther was primer and red pain under everything.

Decided to try stain it first as it would be easy to paint it red if it looked crap in glad I did because I love it stained

Before

After

I'm keeping it on its stand as its easy to move I added wheels but not sure I can handle the green speckled look but unsure what to do so it will stay like this till I can decide.

Base is made from ply not sure if I want to stain it a dark colour, pains it a deep burgundy or even just plain black? Or leave as is what do you guys think?

There's a link to a quick video.  But basically out in your penny push the knob to release 5 balls and use the lever on the left to hit the balls into the net on the right

Looks great stained. Was the base part of the original machine ?

The base was on the game when I got it not sure if it's factory but was definately built to fit the game.

They were normally wall hung due to the small foot it had... that is some serious speckle isn't it?

Yeah this one has no access except for the rest panel so I'm guessing it's always been a counter top game but I could be wrong

Daniel love the stained look, is this an import or did you find this in OZ?
Base doesn't look too bad.
Love your work
