Title: best and worst sys11
Post by: Pop Bumper Pete on November 16, 2014, 10:41:28 AM
Best and worst sys11

What sys11s (or other alphanumeric from other companies) are good games to add to a collection, and what games should I avoid?

Already have ;
BK2000
Earthshaker
Pinbot
Robocop (Backglass is lame but I like the game)
Funhouse (I know, not sy11)

Thanks
Pete

SYS11 games to me are the soul of pinball for me as it is my era. EM's are better though, anyway

I love my Radical and Dr Dude
selling my Space Station, but this is a very cool game with awesome sound and light show, just not my theme and need room.
Loved Riverboat Gambler as I like gambling themes, would love to play Bad cats and Mousin around.
Bugs Bunny Birthday Bash gets a lot of negativity, I didn't mind it.

Actually is there a BAD sys11 game? they are all simple and fun with some cool wank factor. Sometimes it is about the high score. DMD machines can get carried away with animations and forget the flow.

High Speed and Road Kings were favourites of mine way back when

Police Force (simple but super fun).
Taxi.
Earthshaker.
Whirlwind.
Radical.

@martyJ, always liked the look of Police force, but had read elsewhere that others did not like it. I suppose I will have to play it sometime

@oldskool, I like Space station, but have only played it ones. I had magic fingers that day as I could not loose the ball

Yeah Pete it's really a two shot game but just good flippin fun. Good for non pin heads too and being able to steal the second players score is a hoot

I've always liked the look of F-14 Tomcat and Banzai Run. Never played either though.

Cyclone.

Ferris wheel on the playfield, wheel of fortune on the backbox.

And Ronnie/Nancy Reagan on the rollercoaster!

I had also put this question on Pinside
They also suggest Transporter the Rescue, but I have never seen one come up for sale here  in Australia (don't think I could ever like the back glass)

Police Force and Mousin Around seem to be liked
What price do these two games sell for?

They are all VERY good games. The only SYS11 I don't like is "Millionaire".

"Radical" is probably the most interesting title, along with "Transporter". I'd love a "Transporter" - cool game.

The "average" games appeal to me the most - "Big Guns" and "Fire!"

"Safe" games are "EATPM", "Whirlwind" and "Earthshaker" - When i mean "safe" - they almost appeal to everyone, and are easy to obtain.

Police Force's generally go between $1200 to $1800 at the top end.

Just watch the centre ramp, they take a beating.  Pinball Inc had re-manufactured them but don't know if still available.

F14 an obvious choice but can be a love or hate game for some. 80s at its best tho!
Anybody mentioned Bad Cats?
Played one awhile ago not too bad if you can get over the theme..
Unfortunatly for sys 11 ,
never going to be as complex as a "good Dmd " because of the software/hardware limitations of the era and people rate accordingly..

With the 4 or so system 11 games I have, I find that after playing a complex DMD game, the system 11 games can be a breath of fresh air. The simplicity makes for a fun game that isn't a brain bender that does your head in.

I also find that people who are learning to play pinball don't get discouraged as easily compared to a complex rule set you see on a later DMD game with video mode etc etc.
I reckon the most fun looking of system 11 is Bugs Bunny. Who doesn't love all the classic sounds of the looney tunes characters and Bugs himself.

At the other end of the system 11 game is Black Knight 2000. Although only a syst 11, still one of the most clever pinnys ever made. Prob one of the best audio and light shows ever. Some syst 11 punch seriously above their weight.

@TUF
Yes, but I play just to have fun, I am not after a deep ruleset
Sys 11 suits me

Definately on the money Pete.
Syst 11 games are usually the last games to ever leave a collection.
Gilligans is another great game. A very cool and well thought out game.
Translite on this one also has great artwork. Syst 11 also priced very well. Hard to beat for value and bang for ya buck.

Hard to track down this title these days. A real sleeper that is not changing hands often.
