Title: Overview of my first restoration: scared stiff
Post by: tura67 on December 06, 2010, 11:24:06 AM
Hi guys,

This year I started my first restoration, Scared Stiff.

Because I am a rookie at this I had (a lot of) help with the tear down and rebuild from spliffsecond (also a member here, from Belgium). He clearcoated the playfield and patched up the cabinet. I cleaned and rebuild all parts and even flamepolished the ramps!

I made a lot of photo's, but not everything has been captured. I will try to make chapters, enjoy!

Part 1: the original state

Cabinet is faded and damaged

Translite is in perfect state
(http://members.home.nl/gabriel/3.JPG)

Playfield has boney flippers, dancing boogieman, candleflames, red leds in skullpile and leds all around.

Playfield is dirty and has some damage here and there.

The last part: finished product

This is how it looks today, some months after the rebuild, about 200 games have been played since. It's so fast that I can't get near my old highscore (85M)  ^&^
Nice to have a new challenge  *%*

REALLY nice work  ^^^
LOVE the LED work around the playfield - especially the green under the return lane bones - very imaginitive  #*#

Only one issue with it - Not a fan of the topper though - but I dislike all toppers

Very nice. I hope to someday return to my Scared Stiff restoration.

Curious, did you do the entire pin in LEDs? What supplier did you use? Are you happy with them?

I'm torn over whether to put LEDs in my Scared Stiff or not. I don't typically like entire pins done in LEDs, but I need to try one to be certain.

@John: I hope you get inspired soon to finish yours! My pin is almost entirely in LEDs. A few "normal" lamps because otherwise the playfield get's a little too dark for my taste. I agree that not every pin looks good in LEDs but it works very good for the Scared Stiff I think. My pin was already in LEDs when I bought it so I am not sure which supplier is best. This supplier gets good feedback on the German pinball forum: http://www.superfluxshop.de/index.php?keyword=scared+stiff&Itemid=79&option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse

If you need translation from German, let me know.
