Welcome.

Your request is a bit broad - a bit like saying "where can I buy a car"?

What sort of machine are you interested in? Electromechanical, Solid State etc etc

Any particular theme interest you?

Bit more info will probably bring some responses.

Once you have 20 posts you will be able to access the Trader section, might be something of interest there for you.

If time and money are both part of your budget best to make an arrangement with Tony (The Pinball Shed/Warehouse) and at the very least you will get to look at 20~40 machines and get a better idea of what is out there and at what prices.

 $.$ and  %)% to Aussie Pinball !

Please do not fall for the "impulse buy" - as are doing here - ask PLENTY of questions. Advise is free !

I think Oscar from Pinball Memories has a Stargate. I have several ST TNG machines arriving next week. The sole Dr Who is already reserved. Obviously we are both based in Melbourne. Don't restrict yourself to JUST QLD based sellers. Avoid eBay - It is simply a shopping window for newbies

eBay isn't always terrible. Definitely go look at it though, the owners always seem to think they're worth premier collector $$$ for nowhere near premium collector machines. I actually picked up a Dr Who off eBay that I was more than happy with.

3.5K. It had a few issues that I knew would be easy fixes. A dodgy flipper and a cpl dicky switches, and a whole bunch of lamps out. A good clean, a new coil, and an IR led and it's great!

Check out my restorations in the "restorations" section. I have two ST TNGs that I restored and sold for around $4400 - $4600. Not shopped - but restored. I am doing a NIB (Nearly In Box) ST TNG - New decals, cleared playfield (currently at Platinum Pinball), PinballInc Ramps, new plastics set, colorDMD, Pinball Pro subwoofer. A serious collector's quality game. Probably not for a pinballer that wants to "just play" and the machine. Starting base for a game that I would restore would be $4400 - $4600.

hmm some of the prices are really all over the place so it looks to depend a lot on whats been done to them ect

It's only troublesome if you don't know how to fix it. A few hours for too catch up on years of lack of maintenance, and it looks practically new. One owner, bought new for in home use... I'm happy with that price.

It was a much better buy than the GnR I paid a hell of a lot more for through a supplier in Melbourne that had a piece of wire for a washer... end result, the "washer" failed and I ended up with a screw protruding through the playfield.

Off topic, but speaking of Dr Who... whoever owns the one at the Family In in Rydalmere NSW, it needs fixing!

My experience was that budgets will find a way expanding, after trying to restore a machine yourself and then seeing an example of an excellent restoration.

Be sure to see face-to-face examples of the best restorations out there, then re-assess your budget.  Worth looking at a brand new machine to.  Having seen all ranges of options, you may find your view of what you want could change.

yes i realise that but all electrical items he had well said that he had tested part of the sytem and that was fine so i guess it's also a matter of beleiving people for what they say

I came here around 8 months ago looking for my first pinball
I looked around allot and about 5 months ago bought my self an old Mata Hari pinball from a gumtree add.

After reading thread after thread after thread to see what pinball I liked and what caught my eye i made the decision to buy
Originally I was chasing a later 1980's pinball but settled on an older classic but dont expect to get anything good cheap

If you have a small budget then you can expect to be working on it your self to make it good, you wont be getting a perfect pinball for nothing
you will need a few grand up your sleeve if you want a good clean game.

The advice I was first given on this forum was dont rush into it.

Haven't seen a sub 3k Dr Who in Seq for awhile now,
their getting up there,
Not to say theirs not a bargain out there tho..
STTNG creeping up a bit too,
but a whole lot of game for the money, as complex at TZ electronically and mechanically. U Need a tech on speed dial for these titles unless had a thorough going thru..
Stargate can be had pretty cheap normally early 2s at a guess,
Great theme not so good a game imho..
Good luck with the hunt..
