Title: New generation pop bumper globe sockets
Post by: pinball god on October 04, 2009, 10:02:27 PM
Started to shop my SWEP1 today and got the playfield unpopulated. I needed to replace the skirts on my pop bumpers and looked at how difficult it would be to remove the old style globe sockets. I decide seeing I had a set of new generation sockets that I'd simply cut to old ones off. Sped up the process of pop bumper removal quick smart.

However I soon noticed that I could bend the insulated wires at right angles like you can witht he flat exposed wires on the old style. So what happens is the globe sits too high inside the body not allowing the cap to go on. You have to position the socket to one side and angle the globe inside the body to close the cap. I don't think it looks as good.

So I thought I'd mention this if this is a concern for you. I'm not at the stage to install the bumpers yet so may order a set of originals, dunno yet. On a sep1 you won't see the position of the globes.
