Stern Orbitor 1. Pinball
« on: February 09, 2011, 11:35:39 PM »
Here is another pinball you don’t see everyday, a 1982 Stern Orbitor 1.
Thais game is interesting as the playfield is curved rather than flat, has two discs that spin at high speed and deflect the ball when it comes in contact with them. The ball sometimes goes around and under the flippers then back into play without going down the drain. Another interesting bit about this game is the playfield is lit from underneath to look like a moon scape. Not many playfield feature lamps on this game.  Have only played this one back in the 80s along side Bally Rapid Fire.

I have had 2 of these - one in very poor condition that I eventually parted out, another in good condition that I cleaned up and sold.  As much as I love old school Sterns, O1 was a game I just could not get into.  For me the novelty wore off after a game or two, and after that I could not see the point of playing  game which has close to zero control over where you shoot the ball.

cheers
