A mate picked up a project Gottlieb Surfer & I've got the job of trying to get it going.
thats OK I'm up for a challenge. ( so I thought !@# )
Someone previously has removed the wires & harness from the both sets of score reels including the sockets as well. !!! WTF !!
I suspect that the score reels & frame that they sit in aren't the original ones anyway as they are different types. Anyway the seller threw in an extra head from a 4 player Bronco to donate the score reels from.
My question is has anyone ever transplanted score reels & harness & sockets from a 4 player into a 2 player?
It's definitely not a plug & play set up, seems to me as though I'll have to undo all of the string that keeps it all together & try & sort the mess out. Any ideas ?
Cheers Steve.

I've never heard of such a thing !
Surfer is 2 player, so you should be able to check the schematics and work out where the wires go on the donated score assemblies. Certainly not a "weekend job", but it is possible.
Post some pictures up, Steve !

Hi Nino . Luckily it did come with a copy of the schematics. I just took a couple of pics.First one is of the surfer with the different score reels & no wiring. & second pic is the 4 player score assembly removed from the bronco head.
wish me luck.

Hey Steve was that the Surfer from ebay just recently? I was going to get that machine cheap if it didnt sell on ebay. Goodluck with the spaggetti! I would hate to have sort through one of them wiring harnesses.

Hi Greg, Yeah thats the one. It's gonna need some work. I think it'll clean up OK but the wiring is gonna cause me some grief !! ^&^

Would be advantageous if you had the Bronco schematics...
This could be easier if we could "map" them together at the connectors ?

I have mustang schemeatics but prob not helpful?

The Surfer's missing score reel wiring problem is doing my head in ! So i've started work on the playfield. Cleaned it with nifty & then Magic eraser & Iso Alcohol & then the novus 2. Hasnt come up too bad. Heres some pics.

Bloody hell that has come up sooooo well. Excellent work Steve!
PBR sells reproduction playfield plastics for this game: http://www.pbresource.com/plastic/gtb-c16111a.jpg
Only US$54 - might be worth looking into if you are making an order

WOW !
Nice work there, Steve - I'd be very pleased with that playfield.
Yep - Plastics would look great - and they would bring out the colors on that playfield.
