Title: Jurassic Park, no display or not working
Post by: robm on January 17, 2009, 04:11:41 PM
I just picked a Data East Jurassic Park, and the screen display worked (completely) when we picked it up for a few minutes, then went blank - it would work intermittently after that.  Once i got home - it didn't work at all, then cleaned all connectors and the machine fires up fine as long as the CN2 connector (on display board) is not plugged in - the led diagnostics on the CPU board appear fine.

As soon as the CN2 connector is plugged in, the machine stops working BUT the display board displays a few lines of randomly spaced pixels, so obviously there is a problem somewhere here - would it be a short and what should i check?

Thanks

Rob

What are the LED diagnostics flashing?  Should flash a number of times?

IF was working 100% when you checked machine, now with it at home not working - hmm.  You've checked connectors, and they are OK.

I would also check the 18 volt lamp matrix fuse (8 amp slo-blo, with the blue/white wire connecting to the fuse holder) and also make sure the EPROM for the DMD is seated correctly as well.

OK, my fault completely.... i put the power connector on backwards @.@ @.@ @.@ so it was just shorting out.

Display is working fine, so cleaning the connectors was the problem (along with my dyslexia)

Now i'll play it a bit and try and find some other problem..

Thanks
