Yes, vinyl is superior. I have a 1978 direct drive turntable and 200 watt amp and have always played vinyl at home. CDs and digital are for the car. Analog sound is richer, warmer and has great depth. Digital sound is clinically tinny. Digital is clean and scratch free, so there are advantages to both.
Vinyl LPs realy started to get good from the early 80s when studio sound recording started to get better.
An example that vinyl is not dead is the recent remasters of Led Zeppelins first 4 albums. They are out in both CD and vinyl LPs.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

Those remastered releases sound like shit. The loudness war is killing too much music.

Its not hooked upto anything yet morgo, I just got it today from the post office ( it has its own speakers) and still sounds great. probably a common thing now but I convert my vinyl to mp3 with it as well. the brand is Thomson and cost just short of a pineapple. Yep, I personally love the sound of vinyl. This is only a small pile of records compared to what other people have, but its what I grew up with and have been hanging out to hear again. mainlt 80's and 90's stuff  @@*

This was the first album I baught with my own money in the early 80's. I think by memory it was $4.99 from highpoint west shopping centre in Maribyrnong. A big mac was still a big mac and there was a drive in across the road. also a roller skating rink I used to frequent across the paddock. Those were the days ^^^
this new turn table sure is bringing back memories.

Don't convert your LPs to mp3, they will then sound bad

There is another setting that will give you better sound (but I don't know what it is)

I looked at my pile of vinyl yesterday and i thought I never use these I may as well chuck them all including the singles(except kiss stuff) but I couldn't way to much history :-) so put them in boxes and there under the stairs now. Kids will probably throw them when I'm gone anyway.

a good stylus is important
I`m lucky enough to still have a Kenwood table from new . bought a component system is 1989 - paid about 2300 then. CD player died about 5 yrs ago , Amp finally died 2 yrs ago . speakers are not kenwoodt  - I got conned into a speaker upgrade at the time , but these speakers still kick ass. now live in the shed/mancave.    but stylus - very lucky that for some reason had a brand new spare one in box. this has kept things going.
converted most LP to digital some time ago.

some of the lps that had some meaning to me I`ve put on display in a frame in shed.  picked ones with good designs or just good albums. took the lp out and just used the covers. better than in a box under the house
listen to vinyl when I feel like it , but these days digitals is much easier. I have 600 gig of music a mouseclick away.
