Yep best day of may and then another in june and then the big one at home in july on top of the regular season.
Best time of the year for the best football in the country to be played, is it any wonder the Vic govt is trying to pinch one game for melbourne every year.
Plenty of vicos will be going..not as many as a big afl game of course but plenty all the same, I think it's pretty close to a sell out. Big bang theory....wtf... :lol.
As usual origin will be the highest rating tv programs of the year as well.

I work next to Harvey Norman Springvale where they had the teams doing signings yesterday.

Unfortunately I was too busy to duck across and glimpse the QLD players - from a photo or two I have seen it was pretty well attended.

Didn't even contemplate going to see the Blues after work.

Last I checked there were no $50 seats left so I will not be attending the game, have to wait until next time!

I doubt it...your forwards have to get the upper hand for the halves to do anything and I reckon your forwards will get creamed.
Gimme a real footballer like billy slater over the tattooed sharky kegmeister anyday.
Best of luck, should be a ripper...as it always is regardless of the outcome.

I agree on the flipside of this Nino.

It is FRIGGIN STUPID that a game, not just ANY game but THE GAME OF GAMES between 2 States.......is held in a completely different State  ^.^ ^.^ ^.^ ^.^

This is just SO typical of the greedy pig-headed and arrogant non fan caring jerk David Gallop SCREWING as many bucks out of the biggest offering corporates that he can - it is NOTHING other than that and THAT was acknowledged ( in not so many words ) on Sydney radio this afternoon by the main commentator Ray 'Rabbits' Warren.

Settle down champion, the big nerd fest theory will be back on tomorrow and the fumbleball will be back on this week-end, you will still get a point for missing and all be well with the world again.
We don't want it down in south south mexico either, it robbed nsw supporters of a chance of an extra game and the chance to see the best football in the world, let alone the country..absolute joke and should never happen again!

Ha you just screwed the pooch. Soccer has no place in Australia or for that matter any other sporting nation. If the game can be decided by some poof throwing himself on the ground and crying blue murder,  because some other poof brushed against him, It Is Not A Sport!. I gave this non sport a chance once, as some of us did, when Australia played Italy in the world cup. After watching this game I said to myself, this is why I don’t watch this f*cking stupid game.

The game of Rugby League was ruined in 1967.
Anyone who can who was around knows what that means.

The players of today regardless of where they come from wouldn't stand a chance in the competition back then.

I wonder if  there is anyone left who remembers the halcyon days of Rugby League?

I will quiz him next time we are having a few coldies.

Hmm, State of Origin would be a Rugby League series of 3 games played between Queensland and NSW. Players are eligible to play for their state side based on where they played junior Rugby League.

It is the pinnacle of Rugby League.

A week after game 1 and NSW are still bitching and moaning about a rule that they created to combat billy slater leading with the boot to stop trys being scored.
 :lol
Even if the try was disalowed it is highly unlikely that the blues would have won anyway.
Keep on whinging blues it is playing right into qld's hands who are preparing solidly for game 2 instead of carrying on like a kid with a skinned knee.

Great win from the Blues, well played.
Some sloppy handling from the maroons but Qld did very well to keep the margin to 4 points and in the end it could have gone either way.
Lets hope the decider in 3 weeks time is as good a spectacle as this game was.

Surprisingly the Blues held on for the win.  How typical of Qld to score right before half time.   ^&^

It will be a big call for the Blues to pull off a win in Qld.

An 'OK' win by the Blues.
Our halves were VERY average - Carney made ONE break against a shortened side- did nothing else.

But truly - I reckon Mitchell Pearce kicks about as good as my nana.
The guy IS USELESS, and always has been in S.O.O matches.
Only in the team because of Daddy  #@#

EVERY SINGLE KICK down Slaters throat for starters and the MAIN reason they scored to come back from 16-6 was that Pearce put ANOTHER sh#t kick down field , straigtht to Slater and thier first tackle was on around the 40mtr line - from THAT they got 3 or 4 sets of 6 in a row - and scored  ^.^

I don't want to say anything about the opposition players or the refs. The result is on the board and in the papers etc and thats all that matters.
Qld were at about 70%, come 3 weeks time they will be at close to 100% and the Blues will have to play a lot better than they did last night( if they can) to roll us at home.
Bring it on...I can't wait.

In the end, QLD dropped too much ball.

Cronk's absence showed how good a defender he is in the middle of the ruck, without him it was like the Red Sea parting for Moses.

There were some unlucky calls against QLD but if you are good enough you will win anyway, and they nearly were, but they dropped too much ball.

+1 Mate, spot on! Far too much dropped ball and at very crucial moments as well, that is what cost the qlder's the win.
How good was Cronk, when he came back on after the sin-bin, wow...that chase to pin the blues back in the ingoal was inspirational but then again he would have wanted to make a big play after his indiscretion. His defence is outstanding for a 7, right up there with Wallace...they are the best defending halfbacks in the game.
He also made the first clean linebreak of the game as well very early doors and it is only that he wasn't backed up as well as he could have been or the qldérs would have been in right under the sticks.
Big credit must go to the blues though in thier mongrel, they had the plan and executed it well but I do agree with watto re- Carney and Pearce, after all the swing in the first half to the blues they should have been somewhere around 18-0 up. They need to improve...Carney must run at the line more and one of them must decide who is kicking and who is playmaking.. they look too disjointed.
It was almost old school origin in it's intensity and a very enjoyable game...even when Qld loose, I love a good game of footy.
Suncorp is going to go mental on July 4th for game 3..just happens to be my youngest sons b/day as well.

White washes dont count as its already over when we go north or you come south for the third game! This one is a bit different I think. Still cant see the Blues winning, but for a change they look a bit better and actually HAVE a chance (albeit slim). I read that the blues are favourites from the punters. Big money being dropped on them to win allegedly. ^^^

White washes don't count...yeah righ,...tell that to the nsw 2000 side when nsw flogged qld to win 3nil by a country mile and their fans, I was there that night and it was hell, imagine being there in a qld jeresy, we were already 2-0 down!!
Funny thing though...ten years later almost to the day in 2010, I am sitting in nearly the same seat in the same stadium with the same blues mates of mine from 10 yrs before watching the mighty maroons win 3nil. I love Rugby Leauge!!

I think most punters south of the border and many north have taken the sportsbet 3/1 on the blues, that is the best price you will get on them but unfortunately it is only for a $100max bet.
I reckon this will be one of the best origins played.

 !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!

At least it was close. Heart said Blues, brain/tipping said Maroons. Brains wins again. Well done QLD. Horrible way to lose.

The Blues guys sitting on the ground like mangy dogs with the crowd screaming after the bell. Wouldn't want to be there as one of the blues players at that juncture.

Next year?  <..>

He has to go, he was a passenger last night and contributed nothing to your teams chances of winning and Carney wasn't much better, although his kicking improved.

One of the best games ever and right up there with the atmosphere of last years Lockys last origin, good one Petro you are a champion and deserved the send off.
Farrarh screaming blue murder after he dropped the ball cold was priceless, happened right in front of our seats. Hillarious.

What about your first try. All commentators are sayng it was a shephard and they award it a try. Go figure. I tend to agree with the vid ref as the blues guy was never going to get to the try scorer, but he was impeded and your guy did run behind one of his own who then took our guy out. At least it wasn't as mad as that inglis "try" from game 1.

Was the third try mate not the first.... #@# The defender had every chance to tackle Hodges but chose not to, the commentators should re check the rule book no defender was impeded, so no obstruction. We see them all the time in club games awarded as trys, no issue here.

Third try was it. Can't remember. Nonetheless, Wally, Sterlo, Gus all thought that would come back with a decision that it was a shephard and were amazed when it didn't. Lots of nsw people complaining about the QLD ref in general, on other sites (as youd expect!). "we wuz robbed" type stuff. Just a game of footy. Only a distant memory until it gets closer to next years one.  ^^^

A new coach and new halves combo for next year and I think the blues can turn the tide, just don't pick Wallace..we need him at the Broncs.
Take the option for a try instead of kicking for goal when you get a penalty in the early stages of a game as well. That was a crazy decision, blues would have scored I reckon if they take a tap.
QUEENSLANDER!!!

Yeah, he f**ked up. The momentum was there for the Blues.
Q - did anyone notice the good looking bird in the crowd (1st half) - is that Farrah's girl?
