At the risk of sounding like an old fart, Bathurst is a mere shadow of what it once was. It arouses no interest in me whatsoever. I long for the days of GT vs Monaro vs Charger vs Mustang vs heaps of different brands. Cars you could relate to and buy from dealers in almost the same state they raced in. The drivers were real characters too. These days it's just become another victim of the corporate world, run by beurocrats and sponsors who are only interested in $$$.

I do agree with you there Tony, it is not even close to a factory car you or I could buy off the showroom floor.  Back in the day they used to drive registered cars to the event then race them for the weekend.  Brockys first bathurst in 69 in a HT Monaro driven to Bathurst from Melbourne.
