Looks like STERN is moving to larger premises.
The article is a little light on WHEN and WHERE but it looks like STERN is moving forward and growing extremely well.
http://www.pinballnews.com/news/tanzer.html
Re the competition, JJP, I noticed a JJP video the other day on the official JJP website, and Jack said his aim was to build up to 15 games a day, or apx 2,000 games a year and he would be very happy.
I was extremely surprised at just how low the numbers were he was aspiring to ?? I thought it would be double or triple that figure, but it wasn't. It may have to do with the cashflow, or growing too big too fast, or just not being able yet to do any better, I don't know, but I was surprised.....
Now that I see STERN is looking to expand to even larger premises, and ramp things right up (no pun intended.lol) with more production, it looks like STERN will stay KING of pinball for a while yet.
I would love to see Jack and JJP get bigger and kick some more butt, which will happen as well, cause all growth for pinball is a good thing.
STERN has Ray Tanzer back, as mentioned in the pinball news article, and Pinball in the USA is going great guns. Good news for all.

Yes definitely good news and shows they are doing well. However, there is over half a century of pinball history made in that current building. Interesting to see what comes of its vacation. Hearing some Stern employees speak about the factory, they often say how run down/ unmaintained/ uneconomical the current building is. It's easy to see in all the Stern video clips how well worn their facilities are. One employee even said the roof leaks on heavy downpours!
-
That's great news things are only getting better for Stern :-) JJP only 15 games a day are you serious?
-
Could it be supply and demand? I wonder if there is little demand for the JJP machines so supply is only reflecting this.
I honestly haven't been keeping up with any news about JJP. The whole WOZ saga, that still continues mind you and has gone quiet due to legal proceedings gagging most involved, made up my mind for me about JJP as a whole. Have they been selling any machines here in Aus and around the world?
-
JJp still selling, but his video says a definite aim of 15 machines daily only, with a maximum of 2000 per annum to reach his aspired goals.
something aint right. I mean 365 days at 15 meachines is over 5500 machines, but the JJP video is definite on the 15 a day and the total of 2,000 machines total per annum.
At these figures, I reckon he is definatekly losing money. I think he needs a min of 2 titles released per annum and figures of 4 to 6 thousand to make it all worthwhile.......still lots of questions of JJP.
I would love to ask Jack directly why only 15 per day and why only 2,000 per year ?
look at the few JJP videos and hear the numbers for yourself.....

Congrats to Stern and all involved ^^^
Please keep this thread on topic and not another stern vs JPP thread.

Definitely good signs for Stern isn't it. I dare say that they are still riding on the success of some brilliant machines i.e. AC/DC, Metallica and others like Tron.

maybe he gives his staff weekends off, so its not 365 days

Would be a great theme.
That or "Game of Thrones", but "Walking Dead" is more of a horror theme and could be more appealing.

Stern could be onto two winners if they brought out the Walking Dead or Game of Thrones at the moment with huge popularity for both shows. I could give up the search for a Lord of the Rings if they surprised us with Game of Thrones.
-
I still want a Scooby Doo machine.
-
Game of Thrones wont happen - licence will cost too much. Its the most downloaded show in the world and previous series is not released until new series is already underway. This show is managed to the nth degree to bring in the $$$'s... licence would need to be cheap for Stern to pick it up.
Walking Dead on the other hand could well happen.
Agreed... BOTH titles would a be a sure fire winner...

Yes, Blair. I still have my list of machines I think will get made or should get made and added that. Like the Muppets, it's one of those "evergreen" themes that appeals to different age groups and generations.
Let's hope with a new factory and more pinball machine sales we will see some new innovation with Stern.
-
I always wanted to do a stern tour in the building there in now with all the history :-) looks like I've missed that boat lol glad there spending my money wisely :-)
Just had a bash on Star Trek before Mother's Day on the Melbourne star/wheel it's an awesome game as is and when the new code drops like Metallica it'll be even better.

There is sooo much scope with a theme like Scooby Doo. Ghosts and ghouls to incorporate into playfield artwork and toys, solve mysteries as one type of mode involving Velma, humour with Scooby and Shaggy and the sexual innuendo with between Fred and Daphne as well as some classic old style boobies artwork on Daphne.

I said 365 days a week cause JJP originally and recently said they were going to be working 7 days a week til all orders were caught up.
Obviously, JJP are using casual lablour so they can run weekends as well. Obviously he isn't going to have the same people working 7 days a week, month after month, but prob running a few different shifts...
I wonder if Stern do a similar thing with its casual labour >?

I am all for a Walking Dead pin but i say wait until the final season to make it.
If they are going to do a zombie pin i would love to see a Resident Evil pin! Games or movies i dont mind.
-
maybe STERN will keep the current premises and keep them for something useful, as well as moving into bigger premises.
Gary probably owns the building, so unless he wants the money more than the memories.....it might be used still.
Interesting times ahead.

Why wait until the season finale ? Strike while the irons hot !
Resident Evil would be awesome. Maybe not as popular, but the "American Horror" franchise is starting to become a fan favorite.

Walking Dead is the next Stern according to the usual suspects who like to leak Stern info.

Borg I think.
Will it be based on the comics or the tv show?
I would prefer the comic series but the comics are in black and white.

have u actually played a Mustang pinball machine > ?
seems a bit early t o call it a flop when no-one knows the figures and its only been for sale for 5 minutes.
-
I haven't played Mustang....it's a Ford so what hope does it have. !*! &&

Good news for pinball
-
Latest news is that the Medieval Madness Remake Pinball Machine will be assemble in the new Stern Factory.
-
Surely there has to be improved fixtures, processes and equipment which hopefully brings up the build quality of future machines. Maybe even getting more out the door when demand calls for it.
