Hi Guys
I'm thinking of placing an order with BGRESTO (http://bgresto.com/) for a replacement Galaxy backglass and wanted to throw it out there for anyone else who might be interested.
For those interested, please just respond with the title of the backglass you require so that we can compile a list.
I'm happy to correspond with this guy (Stephen) via email to arrange once we have compiled the list.
Interest
Galaxy (Sinbad79)
Big Dick, erm Casino (ddstoys)
-
maybe add a link to the site
-
Also where you're located as postage from you may be required.
-
First post updated with website link
Also, I am located in Adelaide, however we can work something out down the track RE shipping.
Perhaps ship somewhere interstate and distribute from there, depending on the interest.
I'm open to suggestion on how else this could work
-
Big Casino for me
-
And depending on price I'd like a BIG DICK
-
Have you got any prices yet?
Some of those glasses that were restored looked pretty good to start with.
-
Not for a group purchase, no, but theyre around $225USD +$25USD packaging +$??? shipping for a single item.
The sales pitch of a restore of an original is just to cover himself from copyright infringement, he doesnt actually restore the old backglass - they're new items.
It might not be worth the cost in the end, we can only ask the question.
-
get a grip, big grip for prices + postage.gavin retropin can also offer this service.
What service does he offer exactly?
-
Bally "Champ"
http://bgresto.com/?p=383 (http://bgresto.com/?p=383)
Would want to know price first.
-
at a guess they would be about $500 landed in oz
-
Put me down on the list for a paragon please.
Also worth looking at the cost to get them to everyone as from my experience most freight places won't touch glass and if they do it's expensive.
-
Thread cleaned up. Please keep the thread on topic.
-
I would be interested in a Gottlieb Thorobred glass . (Its not a glass that Steve has already done though)
I was part of a group buy from bgresto late last year on AA.
Between us we bought 15 glasses which were shipped in 4 packages to 4 different addresses .
My glass (Gulfstream) cost $260 including shipping

Great price. I've heard the quality is good, but I'd be interested to here your thoughts. W
hat did you think?

The quality of the 3 glasses I've seen is great.
Will post pics of my Gulfstream glass in this thread when I am at home.

That's great to hear and in that case I'd be in for an Asteroid Annie glass as long as the logistics could be sorted between everyone.
-
I'm keeping a spreadsheet record as we go, currently sitting at 7 items
-
If there happy to send to different location. I can be the Victorian distribution hub
-

Steve apparently had no issue sending to 4 different addresses with the group buy I was in so can't see why this time would be any different
-
Here are some pics of my Gulf stream glass from bgresto .
The camera picked up a reflection on the lower part of the glass in the pic of it lit , unfortunately .
-
The glasses were packed really well in bubble wrap with foam all around the edges, then in cardboard full of peanuts so pretty much no chance of breakage IMO
-
I don't know much about these guys, but the pics look great. I'd like to ask if they have ;
Williams "Dealer's Choice"
Williams "Jungle Lord"
^^^
-
I'd be in for a Bally Star-jet
-
Please count me in for 2 backglasses if this goes ahead.
-
Pinballer, which titles are you after? So that I can keep a record.
-
Bump..
I have an indicative list of 12 back glasses at the moment.
If possible, i'd like to get to 15 before i contact Steve for quotes.
-
williams swinger or funfest, prefer swinger but he has already done funfest
-
Hi, I'd like to get an 'Ace High' (Gottlieb 1957) backglass if that's possible. He has done this glass but never responds to my emails. Thanks, Mark
-
Can't see a GTB Hulk, Spiderman or Atari Superman in the list but looking for all three
-
Count me in for a Gtlb Big Shot
http://bgresto.com/?p=105 (http://bgresto.com/?p=105)
I am also in Adelaide if that helps.
-
Please count me in for 2 backglasses if this goes ahead.
I need to know which backglasses you need otherwise i cant help you.
-
Just has word from Stephen.
"if you purchase 3-8 restorations, in one order, I can give you a $40 discount per glass vs the $225 price… If you order more than 8 in one order, I can give you a $50 discount per glass… "
With shipping, i estimate at this stage that the cost per glass would be approx $240USD landed.
I'll update once i know more.

The process demonstrated here is nothing more than anyone could do themselves. its not like Greatwitch john's process which is actually digitally printed direct to glass (a much more costly way of printing).
The way these are done is almost the same way that I demonstrated here:
http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=8731.0
Only difference being that my blockout on the back is sprayed on and theirs is a print.
The vacuum seal bit is a beef up and the oven process is just a lamination to shrink wrap the print to the glass and can be done with a hair drier.
I was under the impression that to get a glass from these guys, you had to supply a glass?

Is that just a way of avoiding license issues?

You will need to provide a front and rear picture of your current backglass .. not sure what happens if you don't have a current glass !@#

You can just state that the back glass has been destroyed, or didn't come with the game. I think he's rather relaxed about it from what I can gather.
What's the consensus here? I'm more than happy to support local, it's my preference, bgresto just seemed more authentic at the time?
Assuming Retropin can do all these glasses, what do you guys think?
Open for discussion..

Gavin's work will not doubt be of excellent quality, but bombarding him with a list of backglasses and expecting them yesterday won't happen ! I'm sure Gav can chime in here.
I'd like to see Bigresto's quality.

Lol- my point was that if you have the artwork then you can do this yourself by following my thread. In all honesty, his prices are good and if your happy for someone else to do this then no problems.. but i know how pinheads like to have a crack at anything and fix most things so I thought id just put it out there that the process is documented here for people to do. I couldn't possibly do a bulk order, ive got about 4 weeks worth of work in front of me for my business and anything pinball has taken a back step for now.
I would like to see the finished product though in the flesh.
Im currently working on a deal to have backglasses printed direct to glass here in Australia, unfortunately, the price in Aus compared to OS for this service is much much higher... but im working on it and hoping to be able to offer a few titles later down the track

Hi. Has there been any progress toward a bulk order on the backglasses. I'm still hoping to get an 'Ace High' backglass, as shown on this guy's website. Mark
-
Guys,
I received an email from him when i was in europe, he stated he had not yet received my list.
So i've sent it back to him. He takes for EVER to respond to emails.
I will follow him up again this week. Dealing with this guy is like pulling teeth.

I know from last time around if you call him he should be more responsive
-
Do you have his contact number, this is beyond a joke.
-
Unless someone else wants to take over arranging this deal, i'm giving up.
After a dozen emails and phone messages, i've lost all faith in doing a deal with this guy.

You are not alone. I don't know anyone that has successfully bought a backglass from this mob.
-
SUCCESS!
I managed to get through to Steve via telephone this morning. It must be said, while he's difficult to reach on email, he's exceptionally pleasant to deal with over the phone. I have asked him to look at our list of glasses and get back to us as a priority.
I am expecting an email from him in the next day or so.
Good result.
-
Persistence $#$ thanks mate, up all night to get lucky.
-
Thanks Mate, I'm still in for an Asteroid Annie glass if it all pans out. It'll be good to judge the quality of the glass first hand. Hopefully Annie doesn't go on a road trip like Xenon, she's still partying in Chicago.
-
Great work Evan that might motivate me to finish big casino

Here is the current record i have for this order.
Now is the time to make additions or amendments as needed.

Are the ones listed confirmed as available?

No, waiting for him to come back, although he did say he'd look into producing those not already on his list. Let's wait and see

Looks good to me. My only question is on how they will be distibuted once they arrive? I see I'm listed as NSW which is correct but if they are sent to a an individual as a distributor in each state for pick up then I'd rather mine go to Victiria. I'm regularly in Melbourne and Geelong but only occasionally in Sydney.

Can you add big dick to mine aswell (seriously)

Yes, it's true - German conversion game I believe? Very crass when you see the BG art - not for public display that's for sure
-
Yes it's legit Evan they have two version on there website I want the original version not the cleaned up version.
I already have a lot up wedge shaped frame to put it in and hang it in the shed
-
alrighty! i'll add the old Big Dick to the list!
How about Hairy Fanny? @@*

-
they all will be repro;s dan,not original
-
Lol, shes got something on her chin....pmsl.
-
The cleaned up version does not look too cleaned up to me lol
-
OK
had an initial response from Steve.
Attached is a list of what he has available, what he has access to and what he doesnt have access to.
My suggestion is that we do this order in two tranches - order those already available, which will allow Steve time to complete the rest.
On the phone he mentioned that he normally packs about 4 back glasses per package so the proposed approach should work well.
Thoughts/comments.
-
So far so good.
I'm still In.
-
I guess i'll need committment from everyone if they are still interested.
From there we'll finalise cost and transfer funds either to myself or direct to Steve to finalise the order.
We will need some committment from Steve on timeline for the first batch and the second thereafter
-
I'm still in for the big casino but no mention of my big dick?
I wonder if he has 1955 gottlieb marathon?
-
Im still in for Aztec.
-

I'll ask about your big dick and casino.
I'll be calling him after work - with any luck i wake him up at 3am
-
I will commit to my order. Considering I have three on order, and most likely two in the first shipment, I'm happy to have a shipment sent to me and other Victorians can pickup from my business or I can post in my CPR boxes.
I would like to see costings and shipping prices. they must be 100% insured at value as well. Another recommendation is to have the price of the BG's AND shipping UNDER AUS$1000 per box. If they go UPS, I think it will not matter.
But I'm 100% in buying the BGs - and I will want to purchase more in the future if communication is not an issue.
-
Nino
Advice and comments noted.
Also, he is unable to replicate the mirror finish on one of your back glasses is that an issue?
I have the same problem on the galaxy BG, but i'm OK with that.

I noted that and it is much better than the JL I own without a backglass ! So I'm ok with that.

still looking for confirmation from the following
KidAmigo
Boots

I confirmed my interest via email today. Also, I confirm my interest here. To get an original art backglass for 'Ace High' will be fantastic. Thanks for sticking with this. Let me know how/where payment is required. Thanks, Mark
-
OK progressing well so far.
Tried calling him this morning but no answer - left a message - i'll keep trying.
Only outstanding confirmation is from "guy with a pinball"
I have attached a revised list of the order and how i think we should best approach it.
One order - two tranches (shipments).
By this i mean we pay what is required for the entire order up front - receive what is already available in Tranche1 which will commit Steve to complete artwork for those not yet reproduced. I am suggesting this approach so that we can get the best possible price for a "bulk" order.
The SA guys (Boots, Studley and OneTaste) seem to be worse off as the artwork isnt complete or available, so i would like to hear from them as to any suggestion or comments regarding my proposal - or if in fact they are still interested.
Evan
EDIT: Nino - i'm thinking i'll have to have my Galaxy BG shipped to you. Are you able to provide me a rough estimate on shipping cost from VIC to SA? - Thanks

PM replied.
Guys we need to get moving on this (i know its up to me) as the $AUD/$US (0.9166) is moving against us. Today's U/E figures will also impact if the result is higher unemployment - will push AUD lower.
-
I'm ready when you are ;). Big casino is for a game so whatever it costs is ok the other ones just for the wall so not to important
-
Good news - just spoke with Steve on the phone.
He has confimed the following:
1. Shipping is insured to purchase price value
2. Shipping via USPS (guaranteed 5 day shipping or shipping cost refunded)
3. Big D#$k available
4. Likes the idea of a 2 tranche approach
5. Will confirm which glasses will be done as part of Tranche 2
I have asked him to provide a firm price on the items and an estimate on shipping and to commit to a date on when we can expect to have the items posted.
I would like to pay the total amount for Tranche 1 up front and perhaps a deposit on Tranche 2.
Progress...

Id be in for a Midway Monster Gun and possible Spiderman
If you want to sweeten this deal a little bit, I can supply artwork for Atari Superman already cleaned up
-
Ok I'll add to the list.
RE the Atari Superman, given he can't reproduce the mirrored sections properly, would this pose an issue ?
I'm not overly familiar with the back glass and the amount of mirrored sections??
-
Im not after the Superman but others are and I saw that he needs to clean up the artwork before he can make this one.
Mirror would come out as grey in a print version.
I figured though that he might offer another discount if we save him what could well be a days work or more doing the artwork
-
Ok im with you now.
BOOTS has decided to not order the Superman glass due to the mirrored sections, but if he's happy to proceed on this basis then i'll put it forward to Steve.
-
If Nino has offered his place as a delivery address, I too would be happy to pick up from Nino.

Sounds like a good excuse to get out to ninos

I have sent the final list (attached) to Steve for pricing and shipping costs and i will revert once i know more.
I'll give him a couple days and call him to follow up if needed.

-
Apologies, progress has been slow these past couple weeks - however i have managed to contact Steve again this morning.
I should have prices and shipping estimates shortly (fingers crossed)
-
Alright guys - deep breaths and perhaps take a seat at risk of getting weak at the knees....
Here is the pricing as provided by Steve.
Total comes to $4,278 USD and with some added incidentals (swift costs and exchange rates) total AUD equivalent is $4,901.
Shipipng is an ABSOLUTE killer!
Exchange rate has also moved against us - My Bank today is selling USD at 0.8477 - I should be able to negotiate something better
A breakdown of the costs is provided in the attached spreadsheet - $175 each glass + shipping and packing costs.
Average cost is about $306AUD each backglass - however he has based on weight of the glass (which aparently varies per game)
I am still happy to proceed at this cost.
If this is still to go ahead, i suggest funds should be transferred to my my Bank Acc and i'll arrange the transfer.
Thoughts/comments/suggestions welcome
-
How are they shipping (fast or sea)?
With the Aus $ heading south it may be good to order sooner than later.
-
Ouch that big dick is going to be an expensive piece of wall art lol I'm ok to go ahead
-
Shipping via USPS - insured to face value
Yes, Dollar is getting smashed, so i want to move on this ASAP.
If you are all comfortable, I am happy to be the custodian of the funds and finalise the transaction.
If anyone has any objections - please speak up, otherwise I will provide my BSB/Acc details tomorrow morning.
I want to aim for all payments to appear in my account by Monday COB which means, transfers NEED to be made by Thursday Lunchtime.
Updated spreadsheet attached - Being transparent to all here - I've done a quick reconciliation on today's exchange rate.
-
Ouch.. I still have to get mine up from Nino's which will make my price around $400 for the same thing I make..
Sorry mate, but im out. Ill go back to my original idea of making one myself.. least ill get to keep the file

Noted
Thanks

Steve has requested payment via

This means we can all make individual payments, however are at the mercy of their exchange rate.
Please make payment in USD as per the spreadsheet above and comment here once funds are transferred so that I can keep a record.
Once you have transferred funds, can you please post here with the following:

Hey Mark
Steve has requested payment via
PayPal to: Shazzam@comcast.net
your amount to pay is $254.18 USD.
Please make the payment in USD.
Also, regarding shipment, all items are to be sent to Nino in VIC, so we will need to have him ship out to us, unfortunately not ideal but that was the easiest solution.
Thanks
Evan

Hi Evan, I have just sent US$254.18 to Steve via Paypal to his email address you provided. ..... We're making progress thanks to you. Good job. Thanks again. Mark

Now if each box + shipping is valued under AUS$1000, then we won't have to pay GST on arrival. It might be advantageous for the shipper to value the goods UNDER this threshold. Maybe stagger the shipment across a week as well. UPS clear their own shipments, and I never have to worry about GST etc.
USPS don't offer this service, so therefore arrangements have to be made to keep the figure UNDER AUS$1000 (inc shipping).
Make sure the shipping info is forwarded on to me so I can track the shipments.
When they arrive, I will check each glass prior to be sent out or picked up.

I placed my last phonecall for a while with Steve this morning to advise him we are all paid up.
He has advised that there are 15 glasses ahead of our order and expects to start in approximately 2 weeks.
I expect his timeline is a little optimistic so i want to set the expectation early that it is probable we wont see these back glasses for a couple months.
To my mind, if these arrive in time for Christmas then we're doing well.
I just wanted to thank you all for your patience and participation/support - it has been a somewhat humbling experience to see you all pool together to make this happen. If it wasnt for the group effort we would be paying well over $400 for individual backglasses - so thankyou!

Thanks Evan, bulk order purchase power worked well and you did a hell of a lot of administration work.

A mighty big thank you to you Evan. .... We got a better deal by doing this together, but we all would probably have never made a deal with this guy without you keeping on with it. I tried emailing him about 10 times with no response, so you have done just great. I'm looking forward to getting my backglass, as I'm sure everyone who got involved is. Fantastic work.
-
Evan has done a great job organising this deal for us. We should all chip in a small amount each to reimburse him for his time spent on the phone. How does $10~20 each sound?

I concur. A lot of time and effort has gone into this order, and most would not have gone to the trouble. In my case, it has saved three machines !

Hi Guys
I'm thinking of placing an order with BGRESTO (http://bgresto.com/) for a replacement Galaxy backglass and wanted to throw it out there for anyone else who might be interested.

I touched base with Steve again this morning, just to see how he is progressing.
He indicated that he expects to be in a position to start packing the first lot of back glasses next week.
Which is great news, and actually a lot faster than i expected.
I'll continue to keep everyone posted periodically.
-
......just wondering if there's any good news yet about the backglasses?
-
Hello,
I called Steve a couple weeks ago and he confirmed he had started our order.
Without getting into too much detail, I'm in hospital at the moment with a heart condition so I haven't been able to follow up. I'll post here once I know more, but I am confident he is doing the right thing by us all.

Hi guys,
Just had a phone call with Steve, he indicates he will be in a position to ship out our backglasses in about two weeks.
Without getting too excited, lets add a week or so to that estimate as a contingency.
He has completed about half the glasses and has printed but not applied the remainder to glass. He will email me a few photos of progress which i will post up here for all to see.
Regarding shipping, i know we had agreed to send to Nino, however just wanted to throw it out there again for discussion.
Given there are three orders to SA i could have these sent to me and i can redistribute.
The VIC orders i'll have sent to Nino.
What do the NSW guys prefer....?
-
I'd prefer mine was delivered to Nino if that works ok. I'm in Melbourne oftern enough that pick up from there would be easy.
-
Looks like we'll stick to original plan, all glasses to Nino.
I'll take care of SA.
-
All good - nothing has changed at my end. Happy to have them sent to me.
-
I'm also happy to have my backglass sent to Nino. I can then make an arrangement with him to get my glass up to NSW. Thanks Evan. Hope you're feeling much better.

I've been away for a week and no delivery receipt has been dropped off suggesting a large package. I will see my work neighbor next Monday, but I would expect with a shipment of this value, I would receive shipping info / tracking advice.
Just keep in mind most people are on Holidays etc.

It was worth the effort. The backglasses are very very nice. I think Steve added a strip of thin adhesive to the backglass to protect the artwork when installing the channel and trim.

Will you be doing or announcing another Begresto Group Order ?
I missed the thread last time but wanted to buy a new Reproduction Black Knight 2000 glass that they said they had in stock and at a great price.
Wondered if it would be worthwhile going it alone or waiting for the next Group order ?
Anyone want to organise a back glass as well ?

I didn't organize anything except have my address as a s"drop off" for the Vic and NSW backglasses. I only repacked these glasses for shipping. So I did nothing in terms of organization. If someone wants to organize another shipment - I'd be happy to assist. i need more glasses, but don't have the time to chase up Steve. He can be very hard to get hold of.
Would be great if members who did order can post a quick review of their glasses ? I'll do a few as I ordered 3 glasses. The Bally "Champ" is really nice, but I have not installed it into the game. considering it didn't have a glass, it is an automatic improvement !
-
I think the next group order should be for the metail rails and plastic guides of these backglasses - but im not organising that after this ordeal.

Picked up my Aztec backglass from the local TNT depot. Thanks Nino, all came good in one piece.
The packaging is very sturdy and the glass is well protected between several layers of very tough cardboard and well taped bubble wrap.
The edges of the glass are also taped.
The glass reproduction looks good and will give my machine a big face lift when I start the restoration. I will do a closer inspection and comparison to my original glass when I get a chance. The original glass is shabby and seen better days.
Not sure what these glasses would cost now, but the last order was well worth the wait. Thanks to all the guys who did all the chasing around.
-
and a few more shots:
-
That box is a custom CPR box that I repacked. Steve's boxes were 5 times that size ! He really packed them well. There's always been a stigma to backglass shipment but I've recited over 30 backglasses from CPR and sent around 15 to customers in these boxes without a single scratch !
-
I would be interested in a Gottlieb Thorobred glass . (Its not a glass that Steve has already done though)
I was part of a group buy from bgresto late last year on AA.
Between us we bought 15 glasses which were shipped in 4 packages to 4 different addresses .
My glass (Gulfstream) cost $260 including shipping
Did you realy have to send in your old backglass, as stated on the BGResto website?
I sent an email enquiry on the weekend about a backless that BGResto already have the image for, and asked if I could buy a reproduction outright. But a few days later I have got no response.
-
95 percent of the time = No
When I enquired a few weeks ago, to purchase 4 x different backglass es, they made it clear they did not want the old backglasses sent in at all. Similar enquiry months ago and the answer was NO.
Has anyone else had to "send in" an old backglass this last 12 months ?
-
No that's just to cover there ass. Did well to get a reply Brett is tried emailing a dozen times with no reply
-
Not sure how this guy works. The products are good, but the service is lacking. I could have ordered another dozen backglasses. But no return emails..
-
No that's just to cover there ass. Did well to get a reply Brett is tried emailing a dozen times with no reply
I think he must have an email issue with some sort of software farming up his inbox because I have emailed him 3 times and always got a email back almost within 2 days max.
The only time it took about a week was when he was away on holidays and said so.
I am 3 from 3 successful.
I sent email from an outlook acct and even a 8 yr old hotmail acct and got responses.
Some will say it's not my ever charming personality, lol , so it must be something to do with email accounts or his security software which must lose some of his inbox traffic. That's my theory cause I don't usually have much luck. Lol
I do however, always include my
Home address
Business Address
Multiple Phone numbers
2 email addresses
To make re-contact easy ? Maybe it's because my email accounts have business names addresses and his software lets it thru. I have seen a lot of people lose a lot of business from dumb email security software. Some people don't even realise they have an inbox problem.

I hope GBResto gets back to me. I think I've now crossed that line where pinball has become an obsession.
I've decided to get my old GTB Pro Football (1973) pinball to mint condition. That means replacing my 8/10 back glass with a new one. It also means that there will be a playfield heading to APR at some point.
I'll never get my money back on that game, but it has sentimental value to me. There are a lot worse ways in life to waist your money.
(I'm even now thinking of operating a single machine - I'm applying a count down for that decision before deciding to GO for it)

Your post made me remember something fun and memorable from the past. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but it might be interesting to some.
As a kid growing up, my father always used to say " It's only money".
I wondered for many years what he really meant.....
Was he being sarcastic, was he being serious.....what did he really mean ? I was about 14 years old.
He was a multi millionaire but he was also the biggest Scrooge in Australia and never gave me a cent ever. Nothing ever changed and I no longer see him and haven't for five years. Growing up I saw both the great sides and bad sides to money but it always intrigued me and was like a double sided coin. One side was fantastic and one side was the opposite.
My father always had plenty but he used to gamble and waste dozens of thousands of dollars in a single night and then he would work hard and earn millions as a wheeler dealer in real estate. He would have millions, lose millions, get it back, lose it all. A never ending cycle all his life. Always a paradox, he spent in one night gambling what he would take weeks or months to earn, but would complain bitterly if the price of fish n chips was 20 cents more than what he thought it should be ! But blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars was quite acceptable. A complex person who had two personalities in one. Always left me with more questions than answers growing up.
To this day, his constant phrase "It's only money" has kept me entertained because I finally realised he was being both very sarcastic and very serious at the same time !
Lesson I learnt, there is a difference between spending money and wasting money.
The real life paradox being that if u feel good after a purchase, it's called spending. If u feel bad after a purchase, it's called wasting money. Lol
I have always felt any money allocated to pinball was most certainly enjoyable and therefore classed as spending money.
The next irony being, a lot of wives would call it wasting money !
Personally, if you work hard to obtain it like all of us do, who is to judge what you do with it after you have acquired it ? Lol
We are here to have a good time, and I have rarely seen a person step away from a pinball machine without a smile on their face. We all might say in jest that we are "addicted" or "obsessed" with pinball, but I say that's a good thing because in reality we are just all trying our best to enjoy the fun times in life, which are always well deserved because nothing really fun comes easy or without hard work.
I hope you enjoy doing up your machine. Seeing other members and friends happy is what it's all about. ^^^
And don't forget "It's only money". Lol ......

....Good to hear from you re: your experiences with your Dad and his attitudes to money. ..... In my formative years my grandmother lived with us. She was the 'knowing' person when it came to money. .... A few of her gems: (and I quote) "When you buy something, always try to buy the very best one that you can afford. The pain of paying for it , you will only feel it ONCE. If you buy 'cheap', you will feel the pain EVERYDAY as it probably won't be much good."
....and from the same grandmother .... "Buy it once, ... buy it right."
I have tried to live by her wisdom and it has never let me down. When I have gone against her principles and tried to buy 'cheap', I have usually regreted my decision. .... and felt the pain for many days.
I enjoyed reading your story. Thanks. Mark

wise person, what I like is the point about 'what you can afford'. Everyone can buy the best, but do you sell your soul or lose your house for it? My wife told me off once when I bought a cheap backglass which was off a bingo called ticker tape or something. She said, "and what significance does this have to do with pinball or what I'm interested in?". It had nothing to do with my childhood memories of pinball, or artwork I liked, so what a waste of cash. It sat in a cupboard gathering dust until I sold it for half the cost.

Thankyou for your kind words.
And your Grandmother was right. Quality is always worth that bit extra.
