Title: williams Lazercue resto/build
Post by: studley67 on May 04, 2013, 10:39:07 PM
This project started a couple of years ago when i purchased a populated playfield of e-bay.
I recently bought an original NOS backglass form the states then whent about finding a cabinet to put them in.thanks to the forum i was able to get a cab from geelong, nick and daniel.the cab is a system4 headbox on a firepower base.
I could not find an exact match as the backbox was unique to a few titles only, with a smaller backglass

http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=Laser+cue&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick

I have ordered boards, displays, wire, connectors, crimps, heatshrink and ribon cables.

i have to re-wire the entire machine as the playfield loom had been cut off.
I will upload some photos soon as i get some parts in the cab. <..>

My 50 volt toroidal transformer arrived today $#$.Looks like it has two secondary windings at 3 amps each.I hope this is enough for all the flippers,it was recomended by gav, retropin.
Nice and compact, will easily fit in backbox.Plus the heat shrink also arrived today, for joining all those wires.
At least i have made a start. !@#

Wow your fingers and eyes must be stuffed after joining soldering and heat shrinking all those wires.    How are you working out what wire goes where???  It's just mind boggling  well done

Hey Studley, don't know if these are any use to you? Bit of surface rust, might save some effort though? Happy to send over - if you're interested, post the lamp to lamp centre distance and overall length and I'll see if they are a match.

Miss my old Weller, left the same one back in UK. Great when I was on my back trying to solder something up in a car dash board. There still made, but bet the (Weller) Chinese ones won't give you 30 years.  *.*

Excellent work so far Studley .  ^^^
I reckon cable lacing must be a lost art these days .
I learnt how to do it during my traineeship with OTC in the early 80's .
