Title: Abra Ca Dabra tidy up
Post by: big dog on June 21, 2009, 01:02:12 PM
First photos are off ebay when I bought it,showing coindoor and coin entery plate with rust from hell and playfield.
2nd lot of photos is the playfield when I got it home and had a little polish, the top arch has rust, the rails, legs.
playfield lenses had fallen out ,plastics yellow, chiped, cracked with red gunk all over them.

AND the pf will be stripped and remylared as well!! MAN its a bitch being such a fussy bastard..  :lol :lol

Look at those vibrant colors !

The artwork on this pin blends it with the layout - really nice !

Should clean up mint..... Will be very colourful.

I would clean up the coin door and coin entry slots with some fine steel wool and repaint with a couple of coats of silver/grey Hammertone Spray Paint (no primer required) available at Bunnings.

Here is a modification you may not choose to use ,if you can not change bulb, break it off and bog the light hole up.yeh that will fix it! !@#
Tony I payed $700 for it,hope to have other charity nights next year with this and more I get going ,raising money for cancer.
the other photos are trying to fix damage from post screw being ripped out and top right playfield ready to repost and reglobe.

Abra Ca Dabra is a great machine to play. The low pop bumbers can be frustrating when they send the ball to the drain, but that's part of the game.
Is this the machine that went for $685 on ebay? I kicked myself for not bidding on it as I think around $700 is a good price for a machine like this.
Good luck with it. I think the cancer fund raising you do is very noble. I'm still planning on winning lotto, retiring, then travelling around to AP members and seeing some of the fabulous machines we have between us.

Well, it's finished I guess  !@# tarted up a bit from when I first got it.  Glued in bits of missing wood (cabinet) air brushed cabinet after cleaning and sanding off yellowing.  Then clear coated to lock in and make easy to clean in future.  Replaced a few light sockets, put in a chime unit, got tilt working and mains power switch.  Fixed a few post screws that got snapped off at base in playfield (painful fix and took time) and new legs.

1st photo is my son (14) who is polishing the aluminium chime bars.  He now helps me a bit fixing and playing the pins plus it's getting him off that "bloody" playstation 2.

2nd photo is the front of the cabinet.  I didn't think much of it at first but lucky I had a photo of it before (start of this post) and there is a difference, more than just the coin door.

The other photos is of top playfield and overall machine.

I do have a problem with it now...it plays a few balls then stops scoring the flippers work, the pop bumpers work, the sling shots work but targets and everything else dosen't work.

When a ball passes through a lane it makes a hum noise but no score.

Hi Strangways it's a t-shirt that my dad got me from the pinball expo, it say's  "straight down the guts"  and has a pic of the ball going down through the flippers
