« on: April 05, 2014, 09:49:11 PM »
Whether it is for work or play, I wanted to see if any members are FORD owners.

A personal car or a work car, tell us what u have and what you have done to it, if any mods,or just a nice stocker.

Would be interested to hear from any members.  ^^^

My daily driver for around 10 years was a 1995 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe.

I loved that car, and it had around 200k on it when I sold it last year. Bought it around 91k.

Relatively sporty, parts for the most part were still readily available, but with 3 kids, I really needed a 4 door. In its time with me, I put 3 sets of tires, 3 batteries, 3 radiators in it, along with a few other replacement parts along the way. When I sold it, it was pretty much stock. The main reason I sold it was it was one of the first cars Ford used 3 stage paint on, and it needed a repaint. For less than it'd cost to repaint it, I could've bought a nice low mile car with a 5 speed, all options, good paint, and that everything wasn't worn out on. 95 was the last year for the supercoupe, with around 5000 automatics made, and 500 5-speed cars.

I have a 1996 Ford Explorer Limited 4x4 sport ute that is our spare vehicle. It has 180k on it, and is completely stock. It was my wife's car, until we bought her a newer car last year. Now, it's a spare vehicle and I've got a pile of parts to go on it this year as it's still on its original plugs and wires.

My wife's new vehicle is a 2010 Flex. She's wanted one for a couple years now, and we finally found one we could afford with the color/options she wanted. It's got right at 60k on it now, and all I've done is put gas in it and change the oil. Hopefully we have a couple years of operation before it really *needs* anything. 3rd row is real nice with kids!

Well done guys for your answers.

In years gone by,

I have had 351 ZJ and ZK Fairlanes when I was a young bloke.
Have had 2 x 1978 XC Ford Slantback Cobras, blue n white stripes ofcourse.

Had a Series 3 Blue AU Sedan SVO HP with a Windsor 5 litre High Performance Special Vehicle order motor put into it from factory. It was around 260 kwatts n had a handbuilt USA Mustang Cobra Ford motor in it. Fastest Ford I have ever driven. It ran 13.5 second quarters straight from the factory. (Had a mate working at VIC Ford who did a special build for me and I had to slip him a chunk of cash to get it past management and it was built on the SVO line, same as Police persuit and some GT stuff of the time etc. He told the boys at FORD his boss wanted a special build for one of the Managers upstairs and it breezed down the line with ease til it got to the motor line, and he pulled a bigtime swifty with the parts guys to get the crated motor out of them.lol)

*I am currently doing up a RED '06 BA Wagon which was a leftover work wagon for my security business. I have owned this car since brand new so I am just in the process of getting it fully detailed, new carpet just to make it fresh, new sheepskins for the seats all round in black/charcoal etc, putting a power bulge XR8 bonnet on it, a sports exhaust, just did full brake package the other day, and am putting a set XR8 rims on it I have with all new rubber. Going to make it real sporty looking in its already nice RED colour. Got some custom plates done for it the other week.

Basically, I am making what FORD would have made had they have put out a XR8 Wagon, looks wise.
The current 195 kilowatt motor is already a screamer and goes well past the 200 kilometere per hour mark with its factory tall diff, but I am going to get a chip done, and this will be my pinball delivery/pick up vehicle cause it can tow anything really and its a nice driver that is a quick car with plenty of grunt.

Will add some pictures this next few weeks/month when she is finished.

Probaly cause Ford bought out Mazda years ago. Not sure who owns Mazda these days.

The new FORD Ranger vehicles, are straight out of the USA and fully imported with some really cool features. Great for work n play if you like a LARGE vehicle.

Shame we don't get the full FORD small truck range out here, the F150 and all that stuff comes out with some huge V8 motors. Watched a mega-factory show on that plant, and they build 8,000 F150 variants per day at the USA plant, and about the same in the Canadian FORD plant. 16,000 new small truck/SUV's every day. That's a lot of vehicles for just one model. The Americans love their trucks as they call them.

I love Fords, the current collection includes

1964 Galaxie, Australian delivered 390 car with 26,500 original miles. Black with red interior. Its a very sexy car.

1967 XR Falcon ute, Its a 289 auto that I have owned for 18 yrs

1968 XT Fairmont sedan, factory 302 auto. This car was left to me by my grandfather around 24 yrs ago

1989 EA Fairmont Ghia, purchased off my father in 1992. Its a great car in great condition but my wife and kids wouldn't be seen dead in it. Snobs, I drive it just about every day.

2009 FG GT 315 Boss engine with 21000 km

2011 FG GS Super charged 315 with 6100 km

Its very sad to see the demise of our local car industry. I would put wheels on a pinball and bolt a motor to it before you would get me in a VW or Audi !!!
