somehow ive got a friggin nasty virus on my comp wich has attahed itself to my start up sequence. i cannot access any fles or progams...computer goes straight to system check... tells me ive no RAM or harddrive... go here to fix it ( lol IE works for that eh?)... gonna cost 80 USD payable by credit card.

i can see all the files if i go through START and then EXPLORE... its all there..  looks like i now need to copy all my files to a seperate hardrive... wipe my comp and start again....  so f**kn irritating, people with nothing to do but f**k up others computers..


Using the laptop now... the number between 3 & 5  key doesnt work

Hi gav,

Have you tryed by any chance using system restore, or trying starting up in safe mode and doing a virus check?

One of these should work and get rid of this stupid virus

ive had this virus its shit, download "malware bytes", its the only way to kill it and do it via safemode, dont bother trying to reload windows it will come back, even repartitioning wont kill it. also dont pay the program to leave your computer as it takes your money out of your bank, acording to the net sites i read about that program, but malwarebytes is free and will get rid of it, ps dont put your files on a hardrive, it will hide them and will contaminate the next computer, it is a bad virus

Odd thing is that I sddenly opened up and took me to www.blinkx
which looks like some sort f irritating 9msn sort of site..


...need to take a breather... getting very panicky here.
will have dinner and try download the programs suggested.

you will need to change your setting so the files arent hidden, its a trick the virus did to scare the pants off you, i had this on my buis computer and i thought my computer was wiped till i figured they are all still there, but the virus changed the file attributes to hidden files you will have to uncheck the hidden attributes on the file . it wil lget to a point where it will also hide your entire desktop icons and have them hidden, and download malware bytes man its the best to kill it, i have killed this program with out loosing any of the buisness stuff so dont freak out to much mate.

these malware viruses are the biggest pain in the arses but they can be fixed

I hate when computers die, our hard drive shit the tin just before christmas, luckly I had backed up the hard drive 2 months prior to it failing after reading a thread here talking about backing up. Very lucky at least I only lost 2 months of photos etc. and a lot of movies the windows backup didnt automaticaly save.  Could have been a hell of a lot worse.  Thanks AP

Ok.... managed to dig IE out of the hidden files nby doing a search......Malware now running and so far found 2 items.
My anti virus found mnothing, ut thats how i knew all the files were there still as i sat and watched it for 1.5hrs!..

.... if this fixes it... oh i hope it fixes it!

you would be best to unistall your regular antivirus after this fix, as these malware viruses take over them so they dont search proper, so after malware bytes finishes, and you believe your computer is safe again reinstall your regular antivirus security, thing is also many antivirus software, have trouble finding malware programs as they act the same as regular programs, set your explorer not to allow popups or auto downloads, to help avoid this in the future.  

you will still most likely have to change the properties on your files to bring them out of hiding. the virus would have just changed that to hidden.

your right on all counts O-J... damn thing turned my firewall off to get in... everything is there but hidden... desktop wiped etc.
I had an email a few days back that was suss... from an old email aquaintance entitled...virus that kills your computer.
i didnt open it ut put it in deleted folder.... i ad to go back to this folder to retrieve the next email up... think i inadvertently opened it then...or was it the harcore porn??? hard to tell..LOL.

i got this virus from dowloading a mp3, the bastard played the song on windows media player, then at the of the song my windows opened up and dowloaded and i could click it to stop, lol it freaked me out, the computer shut off, when i turned it back on it made all my icons gone all my files apeared gone, and kept going up with a program saying scaning my computer, at the end of the scan told me i had to pay money to register this program to remove these files, lol man i thought i was done for, i had my backup harddrive pluged in and no files could be seen, i was then really freaked out, but i still noticed my hard drive said the amount of megs used was the same, so i figured they must be hidden, i removed the virus all my icons still gone and files hidden, but as i said that is only because it had changed the file properties to hidden files, i changed them all back took a bit of time but all worked out,

Great help guys - I found out the hard way that backups should be part of the routine. Just burn your docs onto DVD or a removable USB drive. Cheap way of safeguarding your data !

All good now.... all i lost was the desktop pic ( of my son when much younger) and my favourites in IE... now this was a huge list and some good stuff in there... now need to find em all again!
