Wow tony Nice find ill definately be having a go at that for some of my backglasses for the wall
-
Yes, seeing this has really got me thinking - have 2 glasses that need doing (Gottlieb Gondalier from 58 and Williams Domino from 1951) - maybe this is the way to go?
-
Like he said scan the whole thing and if you stuff it up then just print out a whole backglass ive doen a reverse Marathon backglass from a dodgy internet photo on a4 paper and that looks pretty good so a scan should work great
-
To me it sounded like it wasn't as good a restoration method as paint, but the big advantage was that it was a lot easier to obtain a decent result.
Certainly worth investigating, especially if you are a bit newer to restoration work.

Anyone know where you can get a high quality scan of a backglass done? be nice for one or two very rare ones as a back up in case of breakage (heaven forbid).

Hey Nino
I scraped my Firepower backglass and i to was pooing myself but it comes of really easy one you get started
-
Definitely an interesting resto technique!! I actually have been thinking of trying something like this for some time now, i did something similar on my MIBS and Klondike backglasses for the white areas around the score reels to repair the flaked off white ink.. i used white adhesive label, cut out and stuck onto the cleaned off glass, worked a treat.. especially on the Klondike glass.

Good idea, Looks great without the machine on, but I think when backlit the thickness of the paper would be very noticable.
The second method where only the non translucent areas have been touched up looks better
