How long to wait before filing complaint?
Four weeks ago I ordered some pinball parts from Europe
I paid with PayPal
I can check on the website, and can see that my order has been paid, but the order status has not changed since I placed the order
I have sent two messages through the websites contact system, no reply
I know paypal gives me 45 days to lodge a complaint
How long do you wait for a delivery before asking for a refund?
Thanks
Pete

Which supplier Pete? I have used a couple of European ones with success, worth noting though.
I would not hold off too long, surely making a claim will wake them up?
-
Email / message them today informing them they have 24 hours to respond with the status and location of your order. If there is no response after the time has expired, lodge the claim with Paypal.
Four weeks is too long.

Nick, I don't want to name & shame
id rather have the parts
if the consensus is that I wait the full 45 days, then I will

That's a long wait Pete. I've used pinball centre eu heaps & they aren't fast - but normally here within 2 weeks (2.5 at worst). Seems a standup business never stuffed up order, threw in extra flashers when I said one arrived not working etc. Whoever you are dealing with I'd do as Nino says and email giving them a deadline to respond (maybe 48 hours is a bit fairer). Then it's firmly on record. I wouldn't wait the full 45 days - if you don't hear boo from them after the 48 hours lodge with paypal.
-
Fair enough Pete, I'd think its enough time already to start a complaint. Good luck.

I don't know what the other European parts suppliers are like but I've used Pinball Centre a few times also. Everything has always arrived well but it's always taken a good 4 weeks to arrive.

Doesn't explain the failure to respond to the messages though...maybe the webmail is not working - are there any email addresses on the site?
-
Europe has been busy with Eurovision. Sad but true.
File the complaint now. Don't wait.
Filing now will not hurt your cause, just cancel the complaint if your parts arrive.

It is www.pinled.de
most of the contact stuff is in German and/or has not been filled out (eg phone is 0800,000,000)
there does not seem to be a contact email except though the site
I will contact them a third time tomorrow (don't expect a reply on a weekend)

I ordered 2 Knipex cable strippers from Germany and paid via Paypal. They said it would take approx 2 weeks for delivery and after 28 days I opened a case with Paypal of the goods not showing up.
Next day I get an email from the seller finally supplying a tracking number to find the parcel had arrived in Sydney that day. I got the parcel 2 days later so it was 30 days all up. Closed Paypal case.

What do these guys sell that the others don't?

They make a DMD suitable for my new star trek 25th

Worth a look: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=22191
And this: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/anyone-have-any-bad-experiences-dealing-with-pinledde
The first is interesting but was a while ago. The last was resolved all smiles but I'd be inclined to put in yr paypal complaint asap while you wait for pinled to get around to communicating with you.
-
Ahhh vpforums, I used to moderate there years ago
Xpin is no better, bought two of their regular LEDdmds a few years ago.
Both had dead LEDs out of the box
-
%.% small world %.% So I take it these are just run of the mill problems with most dmd sellers including faulty leds & long delays getting back to customers (or no response whatsoever until aired on a forum)? Think I'll stick with colordmd in my games even if they do cost almost as much as a Stern topper.
-
Either a color DMD, or Mike Homepin is making his own LED dmd
But neither is viable if you want the smaller DE display or the larger Sega display

Pete, what are they asking for this replacement Star Trek 25th display ?
I have 2 x Star Trek 25ths and the displays are perfect but I bought some spares 5 years ago from a seller in the USA and at the time they were cheap at around $200 Aussie each.
I think it was Jeff from PinballClassics who put me onto the replacements.
What are they asking now for one this Euro seller ?
Did no one in the USA have them at all ? Or were they much dearer ?
I thought multiple sellers would of had these by now but that's just an assumption.
Interested to know how u get along.

Finally got a reply
They were out of stock
Pity it did not say that on their website
I will wait another two weeks

Cool Pete - similar story to the pinside thread which was 1 year ago now. If you remember would you mind returning & letting us know how it goes?
-
You have 180 days with paypal.
They changed it many months ago.

I'm more likely to forget that I had ordered the displays in 6 months
:p
-
No chance of you returning & letting us know then :lol Isn't mike working on some led dmds? (or not a fit for ST 25th?)

the DE display I want is 128 x 16 dots
their is a large display that Sega used for a few games, if that gives out , there is no replacement available
the normal DMD is 128 x 32 dots
I have tried the 128 x 32 display that Xpin make
I put a red one in my Iron man,
I liked the color but due to the way they are built, there is a grid pattern visible in the display
(the display is made of 8 x 8 LED blocks)
but as I posted, the two displays I bought had dead dots straight out of the box

Ok Pete - so you don't like the grid pattern? That makes sense I guess espcly if so used to std dmd - almost looks like lines are out. I think you'd get used to it though - & I do like the idea of a diff colour to orange (even if still mono).
-
colorDMD have done most of my DMD collection
just need the $$ to buy the displays
colorDMD > mono DMD anyday
-
Pete, the large Sega style displays that suit games like Batman Fotever and Frankenstein etc are showing in stock at companies like Pinball Life for $475.
I know u are after the Star Trek 25th display, but I think in a earlier post you mentioned the largest DMD display for Segas was not avail ?
-
At $475 they might as well be unavaliable
-
Yeh they are not cheap but they do look great lit up on Batman Forever, Frankenstein etc etc. Only mentioned they were available in case someone was after one.
Hope your DMD arrives from Europe etc.
-
well, I gave pinLED an extra two weeks, still no displays or notice that they have been sent
Let see what PayPal does
-
Good luck!

You'd think they'd learn huh? Oh well, I reckon Paypal will look after you (they have to do something for those fees right?). Good luck Pete.
-
My displays arrived today
Woot!
will install this weekend
-
Please let us know how they go compared to the crappy x-pin ones ;)
-
Must have been sent by ship..
-
Wow, they've taken there time! Maybe there is still hope for my Xenon back glass. She's still lost !!!
