I suspect I may have a lamp socket that possibly shorting out and causing a fuse to blow. But I don't know how to see if a socket is shorting via a multimeter. Can someone explain how to measure a short? What setting on the mm and what to expect to see with and without a short, is the machine power on etc etc

If your multi meter has a BUzz setting use that if it has a short it will buzz

Mine is a cheap DSE, it has the setting but no buzzer. Am I right in thinking if it shows 1 its shorting or buzzing? And the machine should be off, yes?? When I touch the probes of the mm it shows a value and apart = 1 just like ohms display

A short across the socket will give you a reading of 0 Ohms.

is it a gi lamp socket?
if it is isolate the socket or you will get a low ohm reading from all the other gi lamps and the transformer.

it is part of lamp matrix B on a pin2000 so it can be one of 61 globes ^&^

Ive never dealt with a p2k machine but is there a plug you can remove to disconect all the lights? Then if it still blows the fuse you dont have to check each light socket?

unsure myself as there's 4 big plugs at one end of the pf and then some hanging off the driver pcb I have to look at the manual
