You really miss the simple things
« on: May 17, 2011, 07:19:54 PM »
Well being in Corio im assuming someones drug lab exploded or a hydroponic setup has shorted out a shitload of houses in the area had no power since 7am and it's not looking good for tonight either.

You don't realize how much you rely on power.

No light.

No hot water

No heating

No indoor cooking

Im really enjoying it but it's driving my son nuts.

Cooking a BBQ with a torch is always a challenge but we will manage.   I've Jerry rigged my camping battery with alligator clips to charge my iPhone so I have an alarm for work in the morning and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to rig up the battery and my inverter to get the hot water service going so I don't have to go to work smelling like a bums nutsack. Lol

Daniel,

Must have been a BIG overload if the power has been off since 7am??

You are welcome to come down and freshen up here if you get stuck!

Hopefully it might get back to normal soon!!

Thanks for the offer jeff but I'll survive.

We have street lights but powercore have to go around and inspect each house one by one (looking for the drug lab no doupt %.%). Hope they don't check the shed or they will blame me and I was at work way before 7 lol

Geez, that's a huge outage - no problems over this end of town.

If you or the family need anything the door's open - shower or anything else tonight, anything mate, just sing out.

Thanks for the offer Nick but thankfully it's back on  was only out for 14hours not 36 hours.   We are lucky in a way we only really shop day by day so not a huge amount to loose but I did have to eat a heap of ice-cream because it was melting lol

It reminds me of the time I took my wife 20 kilometres down to the Gold Coast to stay at this really upmarket 30 storey hi-rise for a nice weekend.
It was like $350 a night. Ooucchhh.  Apparently, the best of everything. Dont get me wrong, the views and room were amazing, but i noticed 3 very important things when i got to know the place,

1. my TV was better and a bit bigger at home    2. my bed at home was better   3.  i missed my bigger fridge, full of food, compared to a empty grog laden bar fridge.

The point I am making, is that there is NOWHERE AS NICE AS BEING HOME !  Sometimes it takes a few nights away to realise just how good we have it sometimes.
(More so, when there is electricity)   @.@ @.@   ^^^ ^^^

Makes u want to go camping in winter doesnt it ? NOT !  %.%

No pain in the gut from the ice cream but I'm a little bit nervous when I get home tonight.

Found out that a high voltage line (20000volts) broke and fell onto the low voltage line....

Let's see if there was any damage to any of the machines???
