Hi. My name is Steve. Just thought I'd better post this warning for all members, as my wife is very angry with the lot of you.
It all started off innocently enough, when I successfully bid for some bally "Miss America" bingo machines on a popular auction site. The machines were available locally here in Brisbane and the final price was just $26. Whilst searching for info on these machines, I stumbled upon Aussie Pinball and my love for pinball machines was instantly rekindled. Now I must have one(at least!). Hence wife upset.
I currently own an early EM shooter "Duck Hunt" which is about 95% complete, a couple of arcade cabinets (One MAME - WIP and one JAMMA with 48 in 1 game board - always liked these old 80's games) as well as a modern (JAMMA) two player shooter. Unfortunately the Bingo machines had basically been stripped of most usable parts and the backglass and playfields were all in pretty bad shape, so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for another pinball in the very near future.
Anyway I have enjoyed lurking around for the last couple of weeks and thought I should introduce myself.
Hopefully I can contribute something to the forums - Whilst I don't have any technical experience with pinballs, I do run a small, game console repair business, so am pretty handy with a soldering iron.
Keep up the good work and I'll see you on the forums.
Steve.
PS. My wife is not really angry.

%)% Steve . Great intro post and wlecome to the site.
My wife is sorta starting to get angry .. we had a deal in the beginning (I get half the double garage) but now I have 6 pins and a sit down driving cab I built recently so she is trying to reneg on the deal cause she reckons my arcade is taking up too much room :lol . Not to mention she's been a "pinball widow" as she calls it , many times now .
Good luck with your hunt for your 1st pin (it never stops at one tho #@#)
Cheers
Dave

Welcome Steve!.
My wife isn't angry. She's actually right into the hobby. My problem is that she likes and wants games that either I don't care for, or are so rare and or desirable that they will cost a small fortune :lol
-
SUFFER!!
but enjoy the hobby ()
-
Welcome Steve - another Brisbanite. You're probably not doing it right if she's not angry anyway, so well done *%*

G'Day Steve, a big %)%
Mate in my experience if the missus isn't complaining about pinballs then it will be something else. The very fact that we are male makes us guilty from birth.
If you add up what the average female spends a year on makeup, hair/ beauty appointments, new shoes, clothes, $15 bottles of shampoo, handbags etc, compared to us blokes then I'm sure it would be in the Thousands, so going by that I reckon buying 1 pin a year( which will hold value pretty much in case you need to sell it) will still fall short of the amount they spend.
Not to mention the pure fun and entertainment value in keeping the kids amused and not hassling her %.%

Ive found a fool proof way to deal with the wife issue...... Dont have one. Problem solved !!

The wife got angry?!?!?!?! I don't get it. I thought angry was a permanent state that they are always in. It's when they get happy that notes a mention. Got to go, I think I can hear the hooves and smell the fire and brimstone coming up the hallway.
Catch ya,
Rich.............................................
