I bought an old Bally Add a line arm bandit which will be great addition to my games room. Got all the lights working and all appears fine except when the coin is added and the arm pulled, the solenoid for the reset on the arm buzzes and that's it. When the reels are taken out and manually applies, all works fine. Every so often when I take out the reels and put them back, it works for 1 pull then stops. The insert coin light goes off as it should but just the solenoid locking up. Any ideas?

Here is a more up to date photo and the area in question.

Can you trace the solenoid wire back to a switch that may not be opening fully?
Im not to sure, as ive only worked on the pure mechanical One arm bandits

I have tried that Ralph. What is going on that would cause the solenoid noise if a switch is open? I Thought for the solenoid to operate, the stitch must be powered up?

Sorry mate , what i meant was the switch must be staying closed for some reason and energizing the solenoid,
Maybe the switch is not being moved enough to fully open , and the coils stays 'on' .
If you look at what operates this switch( a mechanical arm? ) and try to adjust it , or it may need freeing up ...

Check that the latching coil that release the handle is pulling away far enough to release. You should be able to manually release the handle if you look inside near the handle
