Title: G'day from the NSW Central Coast
Post by: Skipper on February 24, 2013, 11:45:04 AM
G'day guys, David here from the Gosford area in NSW. I'm new to this experience and looking forward to getting involved in what appears a great pastime. I'm looking to buy my first pinball machine and would appreciate any advice and recommendations. If anyone's got a suitable 'introductory' pin to sell, I'd sure appreciate finding out some details. Cheers to all!

Welcome matey to Aussie Pinball.

It all depends on what u want to spend on your first pinball machine.
You can spend around the $2500 mark and get a nice mid 1990's machine which will be alot of fun, or you can buy a brand new Stern for $6600 and u have a choice out of quite a few great titles, including AC/DC, X Men, Avengers etc.

It all depoends on what u want to do. If u do buy a 2nd hand machine, just make sure you buy one from a collector and u might pay a little extra, but you should get a game without faults/painfull fault finding. Also, ask about members who live close to you, cause sometime the best way to get a feel for the hobby is to meet other like minded people close to home.

Welcome to Aussie Pinball, alot of top blokes on here.  ^^^

Welcome David, I am fairly local, just at Belmont on Lake Macquarie.

Skybeaux (Ken) here is a great tech that can help for repairs as he is in Lake Munmorah even closer to you.

Once you get 20 posts up you will be able to see the for sale section but agree with Cavey buy from a member rather than ebay if possible but get a theme that is to your liking, watch youtube videos to try and get a feel and don't hesitate asking questions here.

$.$ David and  %)% to Aussie Pinball.

My advice is to spend some time researching your first pinball, as usually, it does not stop at one !

$.$ David and  %)% as others have said. Take your time and look around the forum before you buy. You'll pick up a lot of good advice along the way and at the very least have a much better idea of what to look for and what to ask potential sellers before you buy.

Welcome aboard, David!

My advice: inspect machine in person. There is no substitute for seeing the machine with your own eyes and playing a few games on it to make sure it is what you really want.

To get an idea of what machine you might like, I would invite myself around to AP members near you to have a play. Most will be more than happy to have you and give you guidance in terms of price and what to look out for.
