I am just adding fuel to the fire but why not curious to hear what people think - rumour is that Stern are getting away from super hero's and heading towards a TV show theme.
They even posted a link to a video on their facebook
[ Invalid YouTube link ]
I know Stern like to tease on facebook but I think the Muppets could be a fun family friend colourful pin and they have been around for years plus they are releasing a film next year Muppets Most Wanted - While on a grand world tour, the Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit lookalike and his dastardly sidekick.
What do you think?
-
As much as I like superheros I think taking a break from these themes is a very good idea.
I also think a muppets pin is a very stupid idea.

If they did a TV theme I would really like a
Dukes of Hazzard - one of those classics that was never done
-
Walking Dead for me if it is a TV theme.
That would be killer.
-
There's plenty of great ideas still available for pinball machines, unfortunately Muppets isn't one of them.
Personally I'd love to see them do a Pulp Fiction pinball, the music alone would sell it to me.
-
I'll be a bit different and say it's an awesome theme. Bright, colourful characters. So many mode possibilities with the material to draw on. Kermit the Frog!!!! Classic theme. If they do make one, it will have no problems walking out the door. Appeals to both old and young.
Cheers!
Adam.

I grew up watching the Muppets. The Vincent Price episode scared me so much it gave me nightmares @@^
Not a good theme for a Pinball machine.
-
maybe an in house dig at JJ ...
-
Muppets has a huge range of toys/themes that could be done for the one game. Plus hit a younger audience.
How about a DJ theme, making your own music, samples etc...
spinning disc flahers, level meters.
-
I read the title "Stern Rumour - Muppets 2014" and thought this was some sort of amusement industry award, although with the JJP situation I would have thought they should be awarded Muppets 2013 (for the third year running)......
-
They lyrics say it all. The words target adults, gays, transvestites, old men.......where are the kids?
[Kermit]
Ladies and Gentlemen, Its The Muppet Show!
[Muppets]
Its time to play the music
Its time to light the lights
Its time to meet the muppets on the Muppet Show tonight.
Its time put on makeup
Its time to dress up right
Its time to raise the curtain on the Muppet Show tonight
[Old Men]
Why do we always come here?
I guess we'll never know
Its like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show
[Muppets]
But now its getting started
Why don't you get things started?
Its time to get things started
On the most sensantional
Inspirational
Celebrational
Muppet-ational
This is what we call The Muppet Show!

The original Muppets series was a great show.
I don't think it'd be a title I'd go for but I could see it doing ok.
Fairly wide appeal I think. Bring it on. :)
-
Yeah I reckon its not a bad theme. Been around for years so much better than some tv themes that lose popularity quite quickly.
-
As long as the Swedish Chef and Beaker are featured it'd be ok. %.%
-
Stupid kiddie theme, none of the kiddie themed pins Stern have made in recent times have sold well, a good example is Shrek only sold approx 500 units *%*.
-
Watch this and try to keep the smile off your face.
Bet ya can't do it. :)
-
I would prefer QUEEN, doing Bohemian Rhapsody.
Queen would be a good theme.
-
I think Muppets could be a great pinball theme, but it would probably not appeal to the public that appreciates Stern Pinball machines. Interestingly Roger Sharpe talks about the Muppets as a pinball license in Pinball Magazine No. 1...
-
great idea,if stern only anticipate selling 100 units %.%if there lucky. *.*

Loved it! @@* @@*

I love the MUPPETS, the world is FULL of them!
Seriously though, I personally would consider this theme as I grew up with them.
If anyone watched their latest movie they would have noticed a definite adult/grown up feel to it with some cool guest like Dave Grohl etc.etc. and some of the humour was a tad risky for kids.
Before knocking it actually rent it and see for yourself, very enjoyable IMO.
All I can say is
ANIMAL ANIMAL ANIMAL @@*
So many great characters to work with and Jim Henson is/was a legend.

have the 2 old guys (hecklers) in the top left or top right corner heckling you
animal for sure and beaker

My understanding is that was actually limited deliberately to clear out 500+ excess blank Family Guy playfields/whitewoods Stern already had manufactured. When FG sales were lower than expected they came up with a "Limited Run" of Shrek to primarily clear inventory. This was just as Stern were heading into their 2 year sales slump.
Regarding Muppets, I do agree it is a strange idea for a theme that is for sure. Just way too niche and quirky, even for a market such as pinball.

Have to be pop up trolls that you could bash in the style of MM, swinks, (with a punchline each time you belted one with the ball).
Knowing Stern though they would just use printed decals rather than actual rubber castings of them. ;)
Statler and Waldorf, I just googled it.

I think the Muppets have had a big impact on popular culture and it may not appeal to this forum, but I reckon their general popularity would make this a good Stern pinball seller.
Here's a nice article that sums it up nicely:

As for Family Guy, what I'd give to see a re-run of that machine.....take my money!
Cheers!

I want a Scooby Doo machine.

I want a Scooby Doo machine.
me too-no brainer ^^^
BUT Muppets is pretty cool too
-
I dunno ........while 98% of people would see it as a bad theme for a game, I reckon if you got Slash to stand next to it and take a photo with the machine then the game would absolutely 100% no longer be seen as an awful theme #@#

Not for me, it would make it worse.
Slash.....lol

Maybe Stern want to capitalise on the success of Master of the Puppets with a Muppets follow up.

The thing with band pins I reckon is that Metallica looks awesome (and I am not a Metallica music fan) because of the artist behind the work, if it was a pin with a bunch of guys photoshopped on the playfield with long hair it wouldn't be the same. I just don't see too many other band pins with the same art potential, but could be wrong.

I don't think Stern can go wrong with Iron Maiden if they go with the cover style artwork and please the Maiden fans. Seems like there are a few out there and it has the music to back it up with the cool artwork.
I think the Beatles also have a varied catalogue of music and a Yellow Submarine themed machine alone would be awesome.
Cheers!

Don't forget there's been quite a few crappy themes that have been made into great pinball machines.
The more I think about this one, the more I think it could actually be pretty cool.
-
I think a muppet pinball would have a limited market but that's the same for any machine trading on nostalgia. On the basis of nostalgic themed pins give me a Goonies pin ^^^, I get that for sure. Loved that movie as a kid.

Stern could really go all out on the oversized plastic playfield toys on this one. Forget about Wolverine and Magneto.
Gojirra
Mothra
Ghidora
Biollante
Raymond Burr....

I am hearing from a USA inside birdy that Superman - Man of Steel is a title being built n designed at the moment. ?? !@# time wil tell.

Stern could re-theme the metallica as the ramps could lend themselves to highways and the fuel target and gauge fits in with the car theme .....
