Just joined up and thought I'd introduce myself. Been a computer game addict since the old zx81 days. Only ever played a Terminator 2 pinball a few times at a pub with my parents when it first came out and loved it. Moved over this side of the world about 10 years ago from the UK and am currently living in Tea Gardens (about an hours North of Newcastle).
Been kinda getting bored with consoles and pc gaming the last year or so which is normally my thing. I can never be arsed sitting down playing a game for hours on end anymore. I was on the internet a couple of weeks ago and saw the WOZ machines and since then I've not been able to stop thinking I'd really enjoy the pick up and play of a pinball (and the maintenance/modding). So now I have the space I've been doing as much research as I can to get my first one (already warned my wife it probably wont be the last if I love it).
Bought Pinball Arcade on my iPad to try out some of the old pins. Really loved playing TOTAN.
Thinking of maybe a Judge Dredd as my first pin (just seen one pop up for sale in Sydney for $2500 that I might go take a look at).
Hope to be around here for a while :)

Welcome To AP congratulations on taking a step to pinball you won't look back

Welcome to AP Ian
I am in Belmont, Lake Macquarie so not far from you
Don't be afraid to ask opinions here as many helpful people, advice on pricing if something sounds good or too high, or certain parts really hard to get etc.
Depending on quality but $2.5k is a little rich for a Judge Dredd unless if absolutely immaculate.
Also not that there has been any updates published here for quite a while, but around the 21st & 22nd of September is Pinfest which is a pinball festival at Caves Beach Hotel where 50-60 pins will be set up - so a good place to try, and possibly buy

Pinfest sounds fun. I'll mark my calendar :)
The JD I had just seen was this one (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sydney-region/miscellaneous-goods/gudge-dread-pinball-machine/1024235842). I have been only looking for a few weeks but not really seen any others under 4k.

doesn't have alot of info, I would be asking for photos and info on playfield wear, ramp quality, how long he has had it, when did it have things serviced - flippers, rubbers etc and maybe a few shots with the lights on....

It was rather a brief ad eh lol. I've emailed asking for more pics and I have a friend lined up who only lives 15 mins down the road to check it out for me before I decide to go for a drive down and have a look.

Hi Ian <..>
I'm a recent pinball addict and member myself. I purchased my first pin from another member here on Aussie Pinball and I'm sure I'll purchase my second the same way. There is a lot of great info here and some very knowledgeable and friendly members as well. Be sure to ask as many questions from the prospective seller and take your time you'll won't regret it!! ^^^ ^^^

I'm a video/arcade game convert too, now I have 13 pins.
Judge Dredd is a great game if you're a fan.
Good luck with the search.
