Title: DMD pin repair ?!
Post by: MartyJ on April 05, 2009, 05:34:04 PM
Hi guys,

I'm down to the nitty gritty for my HS2.  I'm trying to keep the budget under wraps and if I can repair my DMD that will save me lots.

I've found the problem - two broken pins causing the far right verticle lines to be out.  Not a biggy, but just annoying.

I tried a repair on and old D.E DMD I had (which MM's now got) with a similar problem.  I tried using my dremmel to cut above the track and solder into it but kept burning through it.  Has anyone got any ideas or success stories?

Ive had a similar problem with My comet display i ended up just soldering a jumper wire from the broken Pin to the board havnt had a problem since.  Or even just solder a pin off an old display across the break.

Its actually broken away flush at the glass.  Aparently a common problem...From what I've read you are meant to grind away at the glass until you can expose the metal...This is the part I canot seem to do.
