Its the simplest things that can be the most irritating?
I need about 1 metre of RG6 coax but I need the shield to be copper braid NOT aluminium. The braid for this requirement needs to be solder connection which is why the aluminium stuff is no good.. I cant find it anywhere unless im willing to buy 100 meters.
Jaycar etc only sell the cheap aluminium stuff.
The high end TV connections may be copper braid but im not sure without snipping the ends off as all come with connectors already..
Can anyone enlighten me?

Try a two way radio place.
-
i have rg52 if needed
-
Try audio/music shop. As in instruments went to my local store for work I was amazed with what stock they had.
-
Cheers everyone..
Studley.. what size is RG52? Cant find a reference for it. I only chose RG6 as it is 7mm cable which fits the compression fitting on one end

I did this option after finding Jaycar and the other usual suspects don't carry anything of decent quality.
Most of them stock a range of "raw" coax (without the connectors attached) so you just pick what you need and get them to make a custom cable for you.

the conductor is solid core copper about 20awg the outer diam is about 5mm.cb radio cable common as.
-
you can get beter at any cb or hf raDIO.store even 4wdrive supplies
-
RG52 is 52 ohm but you can ask for low loss cable.i think it is thicker.tv antenna is 75 ohms

if you realy need RG6 bunnings sell it.

not sure if you need quad shielding mine is single shield.
-
the quad shielded stuff is a bit of marketing bullshit, and is usually tin/alluminium foil shield.
-
what is the application?
-
what is the application?
Goes from opto multiplier valve to valve amp.. the shield is soldered to 2 of the pins on opto multiplier and then run to amp.
the Bunnings stuff is all aluminium shield.. just rubbish..
.. ill do the music shops for something decent..
Thanks for your help

Quad shield RG6 is not rubbish at all. It's simply not suitable for what you need.
-
How did you go?
75ohm or 50ohms?
Where are you located?
