Well I'm nearing the end of touching up the pf.
This was really worn out and I was nearly going to get an overlay for it, but persisted on.
As you can see the dragons were giving me the shits so after the third time of removing and repainting this is it.
I need to get the ONU done which is missing from the bonus. (don't know how this will go)
The centre of the playfield was the worst, pastics all reseated, I need to go around the arrows too.
The drop target area had bad wear with the opposite side the same.
clearcoat will be next.
go easy on me, its my first attempt %$%

above for the before shots, before the mylar came off, also the mylar around bumpers that was removed took some paint off around them.

Looks really good. #*#
How many coats and what sort of process are you planning with the clear?

I'm going with the water based clear gloss - 2 very light coats with probably 5-7 wet coats depending on the look with a fine sanding between except last one. Finishing with a novus2 then some maguires canuba (pure)

Thx mate, hows my baby going?
-
Looking forward to the results ive never used water based clears.
-
Yes - I will be following this process closely ^^^
-
Have finished the machine finally with only a couple of issues remaining.
The upper/lower bumper globes - got the upper working the lower is still out, need to check more wiring and or drivers.
The globes in the K & I in bg (upper ones were not lighting) ended up being a bad 555 ic on the board, replaced all good now.

Very Cool!
You can improve the sound by adjusting the sustain pot on the sound board. Have a fiddle around with it while the game is in sound test mode.
-
Do you have any pictures or a description of the CC application / process ?
Looks GREAT BTW ^^^

It's not changing the sound at all and I don't know what this should sound like, I might go and get some 10k pots and change them as they could be shot.

Didn't get any progress shots, but had a problem with fish eyes early in the process and was getting annoyed with them.
sanded all off and started again, problem I think was spaying too thick, so I gave it light sprays only for all of the coats which ended up being 10-15 I think, with a light sand between them.
Finishing off with 1200 grit sand with novus 3, novus 2 then wax.
Don't think I'll clear coat anymore, its too much work, messy and time consuming, the gorgar I am onto now has just been waxed after some touchups after the mylar removal.

What brand of CC did you use ?

Cabot's
Crystall Clear
Did some reading/research on the aussie woodwork forum.

Also just changed the 2 10k pots and the LS93 ic on the sound board with no change in the sound, I still get that really high pitch chip sound which shouldn't be there aparently. I did put a cap kit through it also.

I'll upload a quick sample of mine shortly. Will give you something to work from.

Here ya go. Hope it helps ^^^

Dont have a manual handy. But check to see if there is an MPU dip setting for Chimes/Tones.
-
something is up with the sound board, have to go through it all.
-
Rich,
The CPU went OK then, as I couldnt test in a machine?
Can you post some footage of your game with sound, we will see if we can get you fixed.

I had to socket the rest of the IC's and replace the roms using 2732's as I was having intermitent boot problems but apart from that thanks for repairing the corosion etc.
Go back a page Dean and you'll see my footage there (on utube)
Could the sound prom on the pcb have a problem?
-
Glad you replaced the Eprom as I said at the time it wasnt looking good.
-
Looks great mate ^^^
-
I think it has the wrong prom on the sound board and I have no way of burning a new one with the programmer I have, is anyone able to do this for me?
It has 729-51 on the prom, it should be 729-18 - am I onto something here for the sound to be right?
A 74S188 will need to be programmed with the file attached here.
Thanks
Edit: I forgot to mension that the board is an
AS-2888-4 which I believe is for a
Paragon, Harlem Globetrotter, Dolly Parton
A kiss sound board needs to be an
AS-2888-3 which is for
Kiss & Star Trek
Well thats what the www told me anyway !@#
