here are some screen shots of the playfield for those interested.

some more
-
last one...
Dennis probably designed most of this until he ended his contract a few days ago, so we will see if it will change any. Heighway design and then played it digitally to get a few for the flow and then build.
-
Looking good. ^^^
Is Russell (SlamTilt) doing the digital versions swinks? He makes a lot of Future Pinball tables and mentioned a while ago on his blog he was contracted to create a Full Throttle version.
-
I am not sure but by the sounds of what he has told me and posted on Pinside it is done in house but those models look like solidworks 3d models, here is mine of the cabinet with a older version of solidworks. The beauty of solidworks is that you can look all around from different views and set material types, the realistic look (better on the newer versions) and it even tells you the total weight of your project and where things are clashing / interfering when they shouldn't.
-
Yes, you are right about being done in-house.
Looks like he is an employee now, not just a contractor.

Looks very interesting

Looks very interesting
extremely interesting! lots of fun there.
pity it is another licensed game ((( I wanted circies animal house , what ever happened to that?
-
I like the look of it and love the theme. It'll be interesting to see it come together.
-
Also keen to see the progress on this, seems like some good changes. Not surprised to see the "middle" flipper move more to the right.
Also like any physical ball lock, hope the balls will be visible. &&
Looks like the space jockey wheel has gone though, shame.....
-
Can't wait for this one, along with TBL this is a must have for me!
Australian distributor for Heighway to be announced in a few weeks.

yeah thats what they said 8 months ago, was supposed to be Wayne.
I don't like the coffee table SS surround personally but they have some good ideas and reckon this would be heavier than a WOZ

some art release pics
-
I haven't really been following this closely but I like everything I've seen so far. Any word on a release date?
-
It really needs full cabinet art on every inch of the sides n front both cab and head box.
That cab n head box design is very much like the Sega 1997 - 1998 and 1999 models with concave head box of back then but even they had full art on every inch of wood. Home collector market would want more artwork I would think ? Early days.
-
backbox is slim lucky to be 100-125mm and pretty sure split in half, as for the cabinet art it is designed to swap out playfields and art on site or at home so something a little different. I personally don't like the large bezel top holding the glass - doesn't block the view but different to what we are use to as 40-50mm wide as the cabinet is double thickness for the art work inserts.
here is a video of the change out of the playfield and art
-
The design from an engineering point of view is modern and is great for operator sited machines and swap out playfield and translite n side art etc. great design there, BUT 80 percent of sales are to home collectors, not operators.
I see where he is going with it and it is very futuristic and modern to look at, but maybe a 2nd Std cabinet version like Stern would be better for home collectors but this would put the design costs up too much per machine having a operator and home version in different hardware so why not a hybrid ?
Maybe keep the same cabinet design but offer full cab art for home market over n above the slide in slide out artwork on the current sides ? Slide in piece has artwork and the rest of cab side is now got decals added instead of staying black. Decals would not cost much for Heighway ?

The pics mr swinks has just shown are the standard edition.
Their still working on the LE artwork.

Thanks Jady :)
-
Cannot say I like the look
from the picture of the playfield, the small LCD sticks out like a sore thumb,
the ramps should have been colored somehow, the Alien universe is dirty and worn, not shiny SS
the playfield art need to look more intergrated
and the less said about the backbox, the better
-
I think they nailed it and like it very much.
To break away from "THE NORM" is a bold move, but a very welcome one in my opinion.
Really looking forward to some more in-depth reviews and opinions.
-
Looks stunning to me, can't wait to see gameplay video!
^^^
-
I love the theme and playfield art/layout, but have to say that the cabinet (or backbox in particular) doesn't do much for me *.*
I too am looking forward to seeing a gameplay video!
-
Very keen to see this in action!
Intrigued by the alien head, interested to see that working. Coffee can like BTDK suits I guess.
Just a little disappointed with the left drain, originally a toy was going to be there. Now it just looks unfinshed to me.
Oh, and I am the same as most here I do not like the backbox. But for me it is just the shape, I want it to match all my other pins!
-
The toys look good but the art looks terrible.
Wrong colour palette on the playfield for the title I reckon.
-
I like the look of the playfield and would say it will be pretty sweet when illuminated.
Not a massive fan of the cabinet style or the topper but it may look better in person.
Looking forward to seeing videos of the game play!
-
Seems like cab design may put some people off? I'm transitional and like the standard shape
-
looks interesting and way better than the stuff from spooky pin. Hope to see it action to give it a thumbs up though
-
finally a company launches a game with a decent promo video unlike the crap of Stern and ramble by JJP.
Well done Heighway, though still not a huge fan of the cabinet.

Well done Heighway, they have taken a killer theme and have done it justice.
This game really looks like the goods, I'm in! Keep pumping out these type of themes please...Blade Runner!
^^^
-
Yep +1.
Well put together video. Thanks for posting Jady ^^^
-
I was going to buy one once it was announced way back when but when I actually saw the cabinet on Full Throttle I passed.
Good luck to all who buy it though.
-
The theme and art are really cool. The cabinet is a real let down for me.
-
noisy background but a little game play
&feature=youtu.be&autoplay=1&rel=0
-
Stuck ball!! What a let down.
Don't mind the look of it.Sleek modern design which is what's needed.. love the dual screens.
Hats off to Heighway, I reckon they have a winning recipe here.
Fix that stuck ball issue though..LOL
-
Looks interesting, cabinet and glass surround an issue for me though.
Also hope they plan to cover the 'tongue' in something that looks like the alien's tongue. Also expected it to grab the ball quicker like the alien uses it in the movies.
Early days still though.
-
Promo made it look a little stop/start, but the other vid showed that must not be as often as it seemed. Love the theme, be keen to play this one.
-
I love how some people are getting their panties all in a bunch over a cabinet.
Wahhhh, the cabinet won't look right in my line up.....

Andrew commented on Pinside
Hi everyone,
Apologies for the radio silence - but we are just getting back to normal after Expo.
We have taken onboard any criticisms over the Expo period and reveal, and are working on a few key changes that can be implemented without delaying our production process.
Yes the production process has begun. Many parts have been ordered and some have already begun arriving. Production of the first games will be relatively slow - but this process will speed up dramatically as we get closer to Christmas.
Production of certain elements are happening now - the cabinets are virtually unchanged from Full Throttle - except for the EL blade panel recesses - and hence these can be built up first. Many sub assemblies will also be built in the coming weeks. This is how we can say that production has officially started. The more parts that are made now - the easier and quicker it will be finish the first games and get them shipped out to customers.
Part of this challenge is ramping up the production processes over the coming weeks to meet our target of producing 100 games a month by the end of this year. We have hired the necessary people with the knowledge and experience to make this happen.
We are significantly strengthening all areas of our company to meet the needs over the coming months. This includes extra personnel in all areas of the company. We know that there have been some delays in replying to customers over the last few weeks and for us, this is unacceptable. We will endeavour to deal with existing customers, and new enquiries, in a much faster manner in the coming days and weeks.
Many people have commented on the CPU and the need to upgrade it for existing Full Throttle owners. We chose the current Full Throttle CPU 2.5 years ago. It was a great CPU back then but 2.5 years is an eternity in the PC world.
As a company we want to constantly evolve our product and make it as new and relevant as possible. We tried to "cover all bases" in our original design concept, but inevitably some aspects of the system may need to be upgraded in the future. We could have kept the same CPU for Alien - but you, the customers, would suffer from not having the ultimate experience that we, the creators, can deliver to you now. So in choosing a new CPU, we have tried to make sure that it WON'T need changing over the next 2-3 years.
For existing customers, we will do our very best to look after them. It won't mean 'free' CPU upgrades, but it should mean substantial discounts for Full Throttle customers. When the time is right, we will announce such pricing and incentives.

Still waiting on the Australian distributor announcement that was supposedly due ages ago.
Every time I ask I get the same old tired reply........ any day now........fark them!
-
I reckon there are some financial issues, a bit of staff turn around
- forum has disappeared.
- won't formally announce a distributor in Australia.
- Dennis Nordman started the design of Alien then left for an unknown reason but reason apparently that Dennis believed it wouldn't hit a deadline release of around June 2015, but guessing there might be more to it.

What a great looking machine!
That flatbed printer is worth over $200K in Australia.. add the laser cutter etc and they have invested a ton of cash.
I REALLY like what Heighway are doing.. looks great, is innovative and the theme just kills.
Best manufacturer around I reckon

Very impressive setup. I really want to play this machine.
-
If they can build them and get them out the door fast this will elevate highway right up there and they will sells shit loads. Really enjoyed playing it at expo and Andrews a very approachable guy to talk to-I hope they nail this title.

They are nearly over the line with this project.
Financial issues maybe , but they are about to sell a ton of games. Should claw back some of the investment money.
If the games is a hit, will put them in good financial position.
This is just my opinion and my speculation no facts.

the game looks great but exercise caution in paying deposits / purchasing, wait for an Aus distributor and pay in a way that you are protected and ensure there is a guaranteed delivery date.

Fantastic vidoe of the manufacturing process, but the fact there is no Aussie Distributor is frustrating. The playfield and gameplay looks really good. I STILL can't "get over" the headbox - It is the Achilles heels for me. Everything esle looks fantastic. Maybe if we could see a game "in the flesh" it would change my mind.
-
I was like that with the head box too Nino but after seeing it in the video it's grown on me.
-
looks like a cracker of a game. Beats spooky pinball by miles imo as far as looks, mechs and game play

I don't like the head box either Nino-and after seeing it in person doesn't make it any prettier lol. Andrew did say they will most likely offer one with a standard HB in the future :) would it stop me buying one? NO
-
Love the headbox.. could make it smaller as far as im concerned. The PCB in there probably only measures 100mm X 100mm.
Do you guys still have large computer monitors or old CRT televisions?,, Maybe your mobile phone has a handset with curly wire?
-
I found some old DOS games like zork on cd the other day. Tried playing them in my xbox one and made a lot of loud noises, I think there's something wrong with my xbox %.%

I thought http://www.zax.com.au (ftp://http://www.zax.com.au) was the distributor. They had a Full Throttle there soon after release. No indications of it now on their website.
