On my space invaders I am finding I always have a controlled light out. My 60k globe was blown, replaced it and a day or two later an invader light is dead. I seem to believe that it seems to blow a globe and then function fine. Is this simply coincidence. I did replace most if not all globe holders with new on this machine

When you rewired in the new sockets, did you file the area you soldered the return wire ? Very common problem, and it will cause intermittent lamp issues.

didn't file but I understand what you mean. I scraped the top coating to ensure the solder took.

Lighting can be an absolute pain sometimes. I always seem to be chasing an issue with a globe here or there. All has been good with Fathom until the other day I had a light come on and it won't go off. ^.^

as long as its not a flasher. My embryon has some good burn marks in the centre of the playfield. Unfortunately it happened before I got it otherwise I would have shut it down until it was fixed

No not a flasher. It's not doing any damage, it's just annoying and I haven't had time to do much about it other than try a different globe. This weekend perhaps.

Is it a controlled globe under the playfield?
If so I would start by resetting and checking the connectors then the Matrix.
Could be a bad Diode or other issue.
Cheers

Thanks, apart from checking the holder for damage and stray bits of solder I haven't had time to do anything about it yet. I'll try reseating first and I have another board I can try in it as well.

Still have globe problems. #5 controlled lamp was dead again and replaced the thyrister again. Then noticed a globe burnt out on the target special insert, so replaced it.
Is this coincidental again or maybe power issues? Looking at maybe replacing the power rectifier pcb.

Quick update, the controlled lamp #5 has gone out again. I am suspecting the thyrister is gone again. any ideas guys?

Bad bunch of globes???
Try swapping a globe from another location into the #5 controlled lamp spot rather than install a new one.

don't think globe as tested good just now. I think Q4 or something like that on the lamp driver is blown again.
If so what's doing it? Any ideas of what to look for, shorts, power rectifier etc etc?
