Title: Bank A Ball ...parts scam???
Post by: mark jackson on July 21, 2009, 12:45:40 PM
Howdy All, I'm a bit puzzled at the moment, and am looking for help or clarification..... I advertised for the 15 pool ball and attaching arms for Bank A Ball. Now, these are (or should be) reasonably hard to get, but guess what?? I got three different replies, but I'm kind of suspicious... The replies all came from England, and in all three responses, the language used was kind of the same or at least similar...."I have the item/s in stock". One offer in particular states that he'll only accept Western Union...Am I right in being nervy about this? Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Also, It's been suggested that the attaching arms are the same on Diamond Jack and King Of Diamonds. (I'm also thinking of making my own set). Does anyone know if this is true?
All help/responses to this post will be really appreciated. Mark

Western Union is a bit of a black hole (pardon the pun) because once that person gets the money they can do a runner and you're left holding your di*k.  It's such a long way away that I too would be wary about it unless it was an eBay sale done through PayPal and you know what they say about things too good to be true right?

Mark,

I saw your ads on Mr Pinball....the scammers target those pages alot

Ask for a photo and see what comes back

I get those replies all the time, even one yesterday....I got a little excited as had been after a backglass from 1952. Hoping it wasn't a fake they send a photo off the IPDB - dickheads!

Just be aware that photos may just be sent which are sourced off the net.

Unless you can get someone to view in person, I would avoid.

Generally these types of sellers will not allow viewing in person

Hi Guys, ... All my scammers came from England, and yet the grammar and language seemed to be written by people who are not native speakers of English. When pressed for photos, it was either a 'web shot' (of a complete machine??), or they gave some lame excuse about their computer not being able to send photos?? In total, I got 5 different 'offers' about the extremely hard to find '15 pool balls' for Bank A Ball... if only...Anyway, I found a guy who sold me a set of 15 pool balls (right size and colour) for $6:00....so, I'm going to make my own! The sad thing is that people must actually fall for these bastards or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Then again I got burnt for $1500 about 5 years ago (here in Australia), so even the experienced guys get burnt - stupid me  @.@
