The date will be Saturday the 17th of October 2009
Mick Banouh who alot of the Sydney pinball guys know will be turning 50 a few days before so will be a great way to also help him celebrate
Will start the meet at 3PM and run it until 9PM (sorry guys I'm thinking of my elderly neighbours).
So let me know and I will put a list up, there will be around 12 games from 1958 to 1966 up and running (and the same amount waiting to be restored ONE DAY!). Will need to limit it to around 25 people, hope this is OK. Will do the typical 'pinball meet food' and organise pizzas and BYO if you want to have a few.
If anybody wants to bring along one of their games, please let me know, could probably fit in another 4 or 5 - lol
I live about 30 minutes South of the Sutherland Shire Sydney.

Sounds great....we need to do something for Mick's 50th...If you want me to have a meet of some kind the same day then i would be happy to have something here as well...earlier or later...as Up till 12pm would be OK at my place...

Well I took her to Chili's Diner for our 10 years @@* - so a pinball meet for our 20th might be the go *)*

As we have a few guys coming from interstate - TonyT and Jasen.
I'm sure Jasen will be fine as he will be also visting his family while down here but is anybody avaliable to pick up Tony from the airport?
He is a member here, a real cool dude and I'm sure some of the AP crowd would of met him at the Sydney Expo.....once again he flew up and back in the same day for that so the guy is right into it.
Tony - are you able to PM or post your flight details?

Going to contact the local paper (the Illawarra Mercury) and see if they would be interested in doing a story on this meet.
Would be cool to get some more exposure and see if there are other collectors out there.
Also, just a word of warning - would like to get a group shot while everybody is here, so make sure you wear your Aussie Pinball shirts if you own them! *%*

Troy is selling 2x 1960s Backglasses - Bally Bullfight and Sky Divers. He said today if anybody that is coming to the meet is interested in buying these he will bring them with him to save the costs of shipping etc.

All good and would be cool to have you and your wife. Yeah Mick is a legend - and this is 95% reason why this pinball meet is happening - to celebrate his 50th. Wotto and I 'stung' him at the last Rollerball meet - Wotto comes up to me and says 'do you know Mick is turning 50 this year?' and I said BS....so we play some pins and decide the best way to 'sting' Mick.....I can't remember what we did but Mick handed over his licence and we got his DOB and that was it...
Will be a great day - and I finally ran it past my beautiful wife tonight - so all cool ^^^

Nothing wrong with 1960s Bally pins - especially being a Ted Zale (R.I.P.) design with George Molentin (R.I.P.) art - it's a winner ^^^
Jumping Jacks - enough said - another classic - Ed Krynski (R.I.P.) design and Gordon Morrison (R.I.P.) art welcome ANYTIME....been a LONG time since I have played this very very VERY cool pin!
The 4 people that designed these 2 games are no longer with us - this is another MAJOR reason why I will have these meets - to pay respect to these great men that brought these wonderful games to us.
Might be cool if we have Michael Shalhoub talk about these men while he is here, as he has met most of them and tell us a bit about their history.

Just some updates....
Will pull down my circa 1965 coin operated pool table for the meet for more room
Will take out one lounge for the same reasons above
A challenge - except for Wotto getting a few games on Apollo last meet NOBODY WON FREE GAMES ON ANY OF MY GAMES last meet *.* *.* *.*
This should all throw a MAJOR challenge to everybody...just don't play the games because there are there...really test your pinball skill to see if you can win some free games.
Come on I want to hear some 'pops' of free games come October!
What might be best is to take photos of one game each week until the meet and explain it's games rules and the way to win free games.
None of them are easy.....so let's see what you come up with #@#

Well some planets have aligned....taking 4 weeks long service leave before the meet.
So will be able to spend at least one week of that getting things in order.
Spoke with Michael Shalhoub again last night and he is looking forward to it and meeting some new and old faces, looks like Alan will be coming down also ^^^
Tell you what glad the meet isn't this Saturday....what a mess the gamesroom is in at the moment :D :D :D :D

Just another update...only 3 weeks to go people.
Just finished the total mechanical rebuild of Gottlieb's Rack a Ball from 1962 (just for you Robert :lol)
I'm on long service leave for another 3 weeks so the plan is to fully rebuild at least 2 more games before the meet.
Thank God it isn't tomorrow - the gamesroom is such a massive mess (yeah but I know where everything is :lol )
Next will complete the never ending Picnic respray and then onto either Gigi or Ice Review #*#

Had a cool afternoon....had an ex ARL/NRL Illawarra Steelers player over for a few beers and some pinball - Peter Johnston played for the mighty Steelers during the 1994 and 1995 seasons.
Have got to know him well over the last few years so it was cool to have him over and show him the collection....

Well there will no prizes but alot of pride will be placed at stake on this game on Saturday.
Have been working on it for THREE nights to get it working as it had developed some problems.... ^.^
Anyways she is 99% right now...this is a 'pitch and bat' game called TV Baseball made by Chicago Coin in 1966.
Will explain the game play on the next post

Works just like baseball (greatest of all games ^^^) were you get to 'pitch' the ball (comes up from centre flap) and you get one swing of the 'bat'
Runs are scored via hitting the stationary targets on top of the playfield as shown in the photo...score of single, double or triple can be scored.
Hitting a single places the animation man on first base, next if you score a double that advances the first man to 3rd base and the 'batter' to 2nd etc
Centre target lights between 1, 3 or 5 runs.
Just like in real baseball you get 3 outs....so if you miss the targets you register one out, do this 3 times and it's game over and then it's the second players turn.
By hitting the C-A-N-C-E-L targets and completing takes one of the outs away

The big runs are scored by hitting the ball into the bleachers (like a home run out of the park).
This is achieved via the ramps.
Getting the ball into 'left field', 'right field' and 'centre field' scores 20 runs.
This is carried over from player to player.
So if the first player scores centre and left field, that leaves the second player able to steal the 20 runs via hitting the right field bleacher.
Not as easy as it all sounds.

As the men run, so do the lights....so when the man runs between bases there are several lights tracking the running man

An interesting machine. I've can't recall playing one of these as I don't think they were ever imported to Australia during their heyday. However, it is great to see them in collections.

Newy boys just got back home. Where to start.....walked into that shed and was blown away. From photos I have seen it didnt look that big, and so many machines. These machines are artwork, probably more than any era, and I appreciate them most for that. I had to be honest when asked by Dan, "what do I think of the old machines". Then Dan blabbed my response to Tony! ^.^ Put me rite in it! %.% I told Tony that whilst I didnt really enjoy the gameplay, I find them very interesting, and appreciate their stature. I would have Gigi in my shed anyday, just because it is very pretty, and so are alot of your machines. Art, and playable history on 4 legs. I had to make this winded post Tony to let you know that I think your collection is very special, and I feel quite lucky to have been invited to share it. Oh and a big thanks for the coin plates mate.
I will upload some video tommorrow as well.

It never ceases to amaze me how much effort genuine enthusiatsts will go to in order to entertain a group of like minded (with all the respect in the world), wierdos. Tony, like others before him, opened up his home to a group of people, some of whom he hardly knew, and provided an afternoon of awesome pinball fun. I am going to drop him in the shit a little bit, and tell everyone that he reckons he spent somewhere in the vicinity of 60 hours getting games up and running for the meet. Only an authentic collector and enthusiast spends that sort of time so thet others can enjoy their hobby as well.

Havent been active on the forum of late and havent been playing pins either !!!. However, being able to rock up to Tony's place and seeing all these classic pins was site for sore eyes!!! Im back baby!!!
A really big thanks to Tony (and of course the rest of the family especially his daughter for the excellent lollie spread) for inviting us to his home and sharing this experience. Fantastic !!! Also want to say that meeting again with the familiar faces as well as some new ones was so enjoyable!!! Its a great testament to everyone where all these brilliant pins were there to play but i only played for half the time... the rest of the time was spent enjoying the company of all who were there!!!
Thanks Again Tony, you are great bloke and an absolute asset to the pinball community.
PS. Yes Wotto, i beat you by 1 run because you ran away after i scored the winning run... time to change my signature ...

Great show Tony. The one thing you need congratulating on is having time to clean up the games room to 100% tidy as you did. I bet you thought whilst getting the pins ready you said to your self I MUST STOP working on the pins and start cleaning up the shed! Which you did well. ^^^ The highlight of the night to me was speaking to all the great personalities of the crew that were there <..>

Before I forget...I forgot to thank Kev for bringing over his game....mate that came up sweet and she took a hammering!
What a postive event it was, you could feel the happy vibe all through the day.
Was a funny feeling standing in that room after everybody had left and looking around at the empty room....will do it again in March 2010 (plenty of notice, so people can't complain about 'missing out' #@#)
There were plenty of times through the week leading up that I was having plenty of doubts but did those old EMs stand up to be counted on the day, only a few slight 'breakdowns' that were fixed staright away such as loose flippers etc.
Thanks to everybody that took the time to come along, I truly appreciate your friendship and company.
See most of you at the next meet at Paul's next month ^^^

Big thanks to Tony and his family for putting on such a great meet, well worth the trip up from Adelaide.
Tony, that was a huge effort you put in with the restores and being in your games room reminded me of the old style arcades.
It was great that Dan was able to bring along his AF and TZ and Kev was able to bring his Jumping Jacks, which he has done a great job with restoring.
Also Wotto and his wife for organising that great pinball cake, you could tell that Mick was totally chuffed by the effort.
Was great to catch up with some familiar faces and some new ones.
Would highly recommend that other members from interstate make plans to attend Tony's next meet

Thanks Tony for the hospitality and the great line up. Only bad thing is I wasnt there long enough. Next time it wont be like that. Enjoyed meeting your family and some more pinheads. Thanks to Dave (Furballx) for having me over for Friday night to play some pinnies, talk crap and eat pizza. Pizza and pinballs go together I think LOL.

LOL!!! I like that kind of deal - i had a Freddy once i did the refurb on for someone - he paid in advance, my son and i had fun on that machine for over a year before he rang and asked if i still had it!

What a day/night, I just spent an hour looking at the entire thread and loved it. Great stuff Tony. I heard that WIN TV reported late breaking news of the harbour bridge openning last night. They're pretty switched on I hear up there %.%

A belated thanks to Tony. This was the first meet I've been to, and was fabulous. To see the faces of the names, to have spend hours playing classic pins and talking to fellow enthusiasts, to have eaten pizzas like they should be and to see a wonderful, supportive family - Tony, Penny, Amber, Josh and Tony's dad Ron - all working together made a perfect afternoon/evening.
