Hi,
I have a kiss pinball machine that is blowing F4 as soon as the machine is turned on. Just wondering if this is a common problem with an easy fix as i am by no means an expert. If not is there at least some things i could check myself , i have a multimeter but thats it, before sending to an expert.
thanks

G'Day Johno - and welcome to the site ^^^
F4 is your solenoid +43VDC. If it is blowing the moment you turn on the machine, then BR3 (Bridge Rectifier) has a short and needs to be replaced. You can confirm this if you remove J1 and J3 from the transformer board and switch on the game with a good 5Amp fuse. If it blows - it is BR3 - if not - you have a shorted coil..
try that as a starting point..

You could disconnect the playfield connectors and see if it still blows on power up. If not, then it will be a bad coil or just a bad diode. Check all the coil plungers move freely as well - if any seem solidly stuck then that's probably the culprit and will need to be replaced.

disconnected j1 and j3 and fuse still blew , so looking at Br3 , but can't get the board off to get to it. Have taken out 1 screw in the middle of the board and there is four locating pins i can see but it seems to be held somewhere on the other side . is there a secret to getting this off
thanks

To remove the board there are four plastic stand up posts. You need to have a pair of needle nose pliers and remove them one at a time. There are also two black screws over the BRs. To remove the entire transformer and board - There are three black screws on the RHS - facing you and three behind the transformer. Make sure the machine is switched off when working in this area - in fact, remove the mains plug entirely.
The process of replacing the BR is covered in detail here ;

thanks strangeways , game has now stopped blowing the fuse , unfortunately still not working. when i first turned it on it started to power up then died. Getting the general illumination now without blowing fuse but the green led on A4 only comes on then flashes once, good to get some progress though , this machine has been sitting in my shed teasing me for a few years now.

U1, U2, U6 ROMs are ok - U11 PI is ok, U9 CPU is ok..
Re seat U7 6810, U8 5101 (careful - as static sensitive) and U10 PIA...
Re seat all the connectors on the MPU..
