Title: To the LED skeptics....
Post by: Pinfan on December 30, 2009, 09:57:34 AM
Just finished a restore on my Star Trek 25th and wanted to add a little touch......Being Star Trek i thought it fitting to have it looking a little different to my other machines, more 'modern'...

A beauty to look at with lights off but have a look at it with the leds in place....

All inserts were colour matched with wide angle leds...

GI is all bright/cool white wide angle leds..

Backbox has bright/cool white wide angle leds..( behind the faces i have used normal #44 globes to keep the natural appearance of the skin tone...)

All leds were purchased from COINTAKER.

The #555 were a bit of a pain in the ass as they have to be in a certain way...Well worth the mucking around though...

To all who are a little skeptical on using leds.... Take a look....

There's no question they're a difference maker - in appearance, in power consumption and in heat generated. Maybe the skeptics just couldnt be bothered going to the effort of re globing all their games...?  *.*

A little more time spent on the ST today and i managed to hook this up...

It is a hallmark replica of the orig enterprise. Cost me all of $15 au to buy and get it here....

Mounted it on a bracket and wired it to the GI...

Thanks Dean....

Nah mate was a full restore like the Bally... Only this cab inside and out didn't need much work...

All plastics get cleaned with Novus 2 ONLY on my games, have not come across anything as good yet !

There is NO supplier in OZ who can match the price of COINTAKER...

Delivered to my door and they are still less than half the price of any supplier in OZ..

If you can make and supply leds for cheaper than COINTAKER then I'll be buying from you...

I am happy with the product, the service and the price...What more can i ask for !

I would have to say I tend to agree with this. If someone in Oz can get them at around the same price I would consider buying locally of course. At the moment I have not found a local supplier who can offer them anywhere near the cointaker price also.....

Here is some video footage of my Fish Tales and Batman Forever with the LED's..  It is surprising at the huge difference in illumination that the LED's actually make to the game. I will be converting all of my future machines to LED's....

All Playfield inserts on both machines are White Wide Angle LED's
