Title: Bad luck with LOTR le
Post by: Ant68 on January 19, 2010, 06:46:42 PM
After my US trip , I had my LOTR (with shaker )delivered .
Boy was I excited to cut the straps .
Sunday morning was D day, with the family all set to go my youngest cut the straps .I opened the flaps to take a peak down the side on the cabinet and then I saw it , dent in the cabinet just below the flipper button .
WTF had to be my luck  ^&^.
Sent photos to Seller ,with out question he will kindly replace it but he hasn't got stock until mid year when the second run will be produced .
What to do ?
It's all paid for ?
Tony

get your money back, or ask the dealer to repair and re-decal?

keep it just in case no second run ....

only 230 made in first run and all sold  but only to pre orders and PRE PAID , was 50% up front on all orders

Tony, was the box damaged in any way ?, did it look like the machine had been packed by an idiot at the factory who knew it was dinted and just didnt care, or had the machine been removed from the box already by the person/company you ordered it from.

Can u take a photo and post it. Is it a big and noticeable dint, or is it only tiny and u can only see it from a certain angle in a certain light ?

Good advice Mark "who knows"
I placed the deposit down I think maybe 5 months ago ,was one the first for AMD.
Mark do you have any of these in stock ?

I don't think it warrants a redecal , but a touch up could easily be done.
Question is ,would the touch up  effect the resale price at a later date ?

Wonder if WMS ever had similar product quality control issues.
is that a 5mm dent?
I was expecting to see something bigger. Just write it of to badluck, forget about the tiny flaw, and enjoy ya pin.

Were you planning on playing the machine Tony or removing the battery and putting it back in the box?  If you were going to play it, I'd nearly just keep it and enjoy but if you were planning on putting it back in storage I'd ask for another one, hold onto this one until you get a replacement.

That little dent is gonna bug the shit out of you every time you look at the pin. Brand new means no scratches/no dents. If anyone is to scratch it, it should be you - take it back.

take it back,

put it this way if it was a car you'd be straight back to the dealer!!

My LOTR LE has a similar scratch on the side, a touch smaller, its not a big deal, touch up one day!

Just request a Coles/Myer voucher from AMD??
There's no point of going through the hassles of a replacement unit, with that dent you've got.

Start playing i say.

If I paid that much for a pin that was brand new, I would want it spotless.

At the very least they should compensate you for whatever the cost of a decent repair is. Maybe a re-decal request?

i reckon touch it up and move on. it could have been alot worse. it adds to the pins identity. i know it is a pain in the bum, but i feel u will never get anywhere with AMD. the pin is unique, small mark and all.

what do u do. a real hard one to win with , no matter what u do.
see if a texta the same colour can hide it. just have turps etc handy incase u stuff it up.

i feel your dis-apointment. i hate things like that.it is annoying and it grates on you if u let it.

No I haven't unpacked it ,I just opened the top and noticed it .
Speaking with Stern they may plan to produce the remainder of the run , a total of 500 .
They made 220 the first run and the balance to follow (maybe) .Could be mid year or towards Xmas ?
Apparently the plate on the Pinball say's  500 game limited addition .Can someone verify this ?

Sorry, I would live with it

this is my Batman, just underneath the coindoor

Somehow the art moved between color passes, so there is that ghosting effect
It does not affect my enjoyment of the game, as I do not look at the sides of a game when playing
