Title: Ball reset issue (intermittant)
Post by: MartyJ on December 28, 2008, 09:03:00 PM
Hi guys,

On my Williams Police Force, a couple of times today (and previously) when the ball goes down the drain, the game does not register it and then add scores / move onto next ball.  I thought, OK I will replace both switches which the ball hits when enters drain (along with diodes).  Now I thought it was fixed with this, however it did it again to me a few hours later....

The game obviously thinks the ball is still in play as it will do the whole popper / coil eject.  In test mode the switches register etc....

Does it use contact switches or optos?

Check that when the ball drains it is actually making it to the switches.

I will adjust them again...I used brand new microswitches with the old blades.  WIth the playfield up, the balls in they make good contact....I might need to borrow someone small to fit inside the machine with the playfield down!

Will report back.

older microswitches are usually worn out more and are easier to activate. New switch will be stonger, and will need more pressure to activate. Sounds like you will need an oompa loompa to adjust the switch !

i find the easiest way to do this nicely, is remove apron and power off, adjust through coin door whilst playing with balls (not yours!)

Sorry, forgot to update  @.@

Couldn't find a midget, so I gave the switches a bit of a tickle and thus far seem ok.  Sometimes I think the arm (don't know proper name) which kicks ball out doesn't work, as the ball doesn't appear in the lane when it should (ie maybe second time around).....

I will check the coil / diode on that but otherwise she is playing great!

this will be unrelated, the software can account for this and attempt until successful...it does rely on an operating shooterlane but of course doesnt need it to execute the transfer...as layer then sees ball in lane, proceeds to play anyway...are you getting the test fault knocker on startup?
