Title: Classic Playfield Reproductions - decision making in a new playfield repro
Post by: swinks on August 08, 2011, 08:35:07 PM
I came across this article and it was interesting to understand the process of playfield reproductions and decisions made to making one. It's a good read for those interested.

They make some good points.  I had no idea of the variations that were made

Thanks Swinks .... useful background and I hadn't always considered the variations that might exist.

Yeah , I've read that article before and its certainly a great read.

It cant be easy having to weigh up all the factors. There will always be groups of people who wont be happy, but I for one am extremely glad CPR do exist and on the whole I think they do a damn fine job with what they produce.

+1

I've never been disappointed by their products. I've bought some of their "seconds" and they have been better than other company's "firsts". I often target machines that they are reproducing parts (especially playfields) for.

Does any one know if CPR has a problem at the moment
They were producing a space shuttle playfield. the front page said they were clearcoating a few months ago, then nothing

I might shoot them a quick email - no updates since May. I recall they were having hold ups due to the inserts not been produced on time.

There are a number of playfields being cnc'd by CPR at the same time. I will be helping out again with insert glueing starting this weekend & the rest of the year. In the past I did around 30 of the Bally Eight Ball playfields. Along with a little drilling of some Xenon playfields. Good for everyone in the hobby to help out & get product done. So some other local pinball guys might get involved to help them out with increasing production from my basement workshop or their own.
