Having never been to one, i would expect to see lots of pins of course  :lol. But i am going so i can meet the guys on the forum so we can talk sh1t and pins.

Also would expect parts sellers/restoration guys to set up stalls/demo areas  !@#.
Dare i say brews with the boys would be the main reason i would go!!!

Basically anything to do with pinball machines, both new & old. Machines, parts, services, demos, presentations etc.

Great Question, Marco.

First and foremost I would like to spend time meeting and chatting with fellow enthusiasts. Playing pinballs I've never seen or played would be high on my list as well - Especially if collectors brought games such as 60's EMs and System80s. Checking Gavin's Stall would be a thrill, as I could check out the handiwork of a playfield or two. If Coconut Island was onsite, I would play that for a while and talk "shop" with Nug & Nick. I'd make coffee for MarkC's Stall so he does not lose customers, and I'd check out other pinballs stalls.. The Auction would be interesting - They always are !

Best part of all would be a beer with guys on the forum  #*#

Yeah right on Nino,

Agreed - it is the people in the actual hobby I'm there for. Putting faces to names, that is what it's about.

Having a beer or 2 and just shooting the breeze with pinball dudes from all walks of life.

Had a meet at Rollerballs late last year and think in the entire time played (poorly) 2 or 3 games the entire night, was just happy to speak face to face with guys who had the same interest.

I am hoping for all the matters that have been expressed above, good people discussing pinball with a selection of parts and products for pinheads to blow their cash on.

However, given the history of bickering between a number of commercial interest in the Australian pinball industry (and there is no need to enunciate this beyond this statement or turn this thread in to a slanging match), I fear that these bad feelings may seep through and hope, for the sake of the attendants and the success of the expo, that it all remains cordial and focussed on pinball

G'Day Ric.

Point taken re the Commercial aspect, but rest assured there will be no "slanging match" on this thread as is is not in the "spirit of this forum".

How about an post in the intro section ?

I'd definitely be there for the meet and greet... playing pinballs is fun, especially if it's one you've never played before, but talking "shop" with pinball enthusiasts tops my list.

I'm looking forward to playing pins that I've never played before, and also taking to other pinheads who share the same passion for pinball as I do.

Also looking forward to the trade stands/displays. An expo is needed to keep this hobby alive...

In answer to the question:

Pinball machines to play (the more the better, and some rarer ones would be nice)
Commercial exhibitors to have a stand so that we get to know who sells what, and get to know who's who
Talks or presentations (eg restoration techniques, home-made pins, basic trouble-shooting)
Opportunities to talk to other enthusiasts
Door prizes

In addition to the above -

Down the track it would be great if we could fly over a pinball designer from the States as a guest speaker. Imagine listening to them going through their stories about the industry and being able to pick their brains about why they set out a playfield in a particular way.

Sure it would be an expensive exercise but something I think could be achievable... I would imagine a large number of people would pay a 'premium ticket price' to listen to this speaker?

Great idea !

Maybe we could get Chuck out here for the Aussie release of nucore ? Cameron Silver could pop back home for a visit as well. Now how good would that be ?

Without a shadow of a doubt - my main point of excitement with this forum is meeting all the guys that i chat to online - through this forum.

When it comes to talking pins, i cant get the words out fast enough. Made some bloody goods friends here, people ive never met, but trust without a second thought. I want to shake their hands, clink beer glasses ( hope the beers OK? not VB of XXX) and chew the cud with them. all those that ive had PM chats with or those that ive spoken to on the phone etc - cant wait to actually meet you all.

Hey! Only reason i got a stall is so you folks can find me!

On my stall, i will have a fully populated 65 bank A Ball PF - fully restored to FACTORY issue, new plastics ( no these are not available) caps etc to look at and scrutinise at close range, plus another PF that i will be starting a thread on shortly, maybe a couple of aprons that have total resprays on them. Possible BG restore video or powerpoint presentaion. Full size scans of ONE of the PFs BEFORE retore - this will be over a lightbox so you can really see what went into getting this done. Plus some games room signage - vacuum formed neon bumper caps ( starburst im thinking) Examples of cabinet stencils and the results.

Nothing for sale im afraid - just examples of work and a service offered.....oh ok - might chuck the neon bumper cap in the auction and donate proceedings

That is on the cards if this first one is a success - there will be 2 very high profile designers at Expo 2

meeting / hearing designers would be very cool. the closest most of us get is reading shaloubs interviews. meeting with other collectors/restorers is the main attraction for many.  #*#

I'd like to see and play some older EM's, as I've had very little, if any, exposure to them.

The worst thing about the expo to me is how fast time will fly

Stu,

If there is an Expo2 (fingers crossed) as mentioned above there will be 2 HUGE names from the US coming over. Sorry I can't give any names but one of them I will be doing the 'Waynes World' we are not worthy to.......they were both designers

Expo 2 . It would be great to meet some of the designers.
It would of been awesome to meet Ed Krynski ( R.I.P.) who designed 2 of my 3 pins & over 200 other games.
Also a couple of great designers as well Wayne Neyens $%$ & Steve Kordek.
legends.
lets hope expo 1 is a great success & we may be able to attract legends in the industry such as these ,down under.
