Not a pinball in any way but im sure no one will mind if i do a thread.
Well for those who dont know this machine was offered as a freebie from FastEddie (Thanks a million ED) Always wanting an EM pokie i jumped at the chance and the wife and i took a road trip to collect it.
The machine has lived in a damp area for some time and rust is a major issue as this is a keeper i will eventually ave all the external chrome re done was going to get a Nickel kit and redo all the internals but after closer inspecion decided i wouldnt (Photos will explain why)
-
Very Cool!
Looking forward to the updates.
-
I had a quick checkover and decided there was enough there to work with so i pushed it aside till i could find time to do it properly i started to overhaul the upper section as this seems to be where most of te action is on the electrical side of things.
So i took plenty of photos and stripped it down this is what i had to start with
-
^&^ YUCKY ^&^
-
Here are the 4 score reels two on te right are done the middle one getting stripped and the left one as arrived.
Sadly as usual i forgot to take photos during the rebuild always get to excited and just put it together so some before and after shots

-
I think that will be it for a while takin some time off work to go work on the Monaro then back into Pinballs
-
you have proved yet again that you are both very patient and talented to restore that so well.
i take my hat off to you for being the most determined bloke on here who never gives up on fixing anything. extremely good score and a excellent resto. ^^^
-
Looks like it sat next to my Pool Sharks in a paddock down by the sea *%*
But Daniel, you will weave youre magic and bring it back to life. ^^^
Kev
-
Yeah Kev they were definitely stored by the same dim wit under the same blanket dipped in salt water lol.
But I love a challenge specially something old and unusual. Ice re arranged the shed so I have my old 50s and 60s stuff in the one corner it's Gunna look great when there all restored
-
Very Nice work as usual Daniel.
The before and after pics really show the amazing job you've done. ^^^
-
Well done its coming along nice F**k your a talented man I would have crack the shits with all the bits lying around with no idea how to put it back together lol
Peter
-
Good Stuff Daniel. I guess that particular One Armed Bandit was the submersible model ?
-
A great challenge Daniel . Have fun with it . Bargain price too ^^^
-
Nice work mate, look forward to checking it out one day *%*
-
That is sensational Daniel, and the pictures dont really show how bad it was in real life. Yep pokies & pins should never end up in an tip. Was like the big purge of pins decades ago where they were just dumped at the local tips all over the place.
Knew that you would have the patience and skill to do this baby justice & extremely glad it is going to restored to its former glory. Very nice work mate. ^^^
-
Thanks Ed
And thanks for the opertunity to restore this beauty ill keep updating progress as it happens
-
Magic!
-
Well some good and bad news on this project.
The good is i got it going last night well te one un seized reel spins and it spits out coins on a win.
Bad news is the roll pins have rusted into the shafts so im unable to completely dissasemble it with out the risk of damage so ill just ave to do my best to repair and make look pretty
-
you cant use a roll pin remover? or drill it out?
-
I have a few more restore photos but had to show u this video ^^^
-
Well i have the reel assembly backtogether and its semi working. Still have the payout unit to rebuild before ill worry about the little gremlins.
Here are a few before and after shots. The actual reels have not been touched im going to check it they are available anywhere before i risk damaging them !@#

Looks fresh out o' the box ^^^

Inspiration work, Daniel ! #*# #*#
-
Great job Daniel ^^^
-
Great work! I have purely mechanical machines and an electronic one but didn't know there were EM machines as well.
Kudos for taking on and restoring this one.
-
Decided it take the day off from pinballs and do some more work on my Bandit.
I now have it working to the point of inserting 1 to 5 coins pulling the handle and away it goes pays out on most winning combos but not all and not always exact coins.
I stripped down the hopper everything has now been stripped and cleaned painted where necesarry. Only part i have not done is the Payout unit i felt this was best left to a day when i have a clear head and plenty of time.
-
:D
-
is there nothing Daniel cant fix. !@# nope, he can fix anything and everything ! well done mate. its looking amazing ! ^^^
-
Coming along nicely Daniel
Whats the ping pong ball do ? !@#
-
It looks like an old practice golf ball lol. It tells the game when the hoped is full so it diverts the in coming coins to the cashbox under the machine.
It hangs there and as the hopper fills it is pushed up by the coins until it activates the switch. Basic but clever I thought
-
Nice work mate, plenty of elbow grease needed there *%*
-
Looks brilliant you have inspired me to restore mine.
Looks like you can still by new reel strips although your ones look pretty good.

Hey Daniel, It looks fantastic mate. Just showed the kids & my wife the progress you have made so far. They are blown away as the before photos probably do not really show how bad it was before you got going. Good work big fella ^^^

Well here’s a blast from the past showed a customer this machine and a coin got stuck in the mech next thing you know the e tire machines in a million pieces all over the pool table.
I have exactly zero time, zero money and even less space but there’s no turning back now

It was Allison's fault, not mine &&

Little more time spent today.
Chrome is off getting re done everything else has been stripped clear and painted where needed.
Hopefully spend some time partially assembling the door tomorrow not sure how long the chrome will be but if I leave it in a million pieces like it is it will end badly

Nice how-to Dave
Are the symbols originally scribed into the switch face, or are they stickers?

The reels are plastic strips with the images built into the tin reels
