I know the title suggests this is the next pin, but at the moment there are some strong rumours suggesting Avengers, Men In Black and Resident Evil. Some very recent leaks are suggesting it is Avengers and I am hoping so, and leaks are that it could be the next Borg design as well.
Therefore after searching the net I have found this little bit of info (posted only 4 hrs ago) from a guy who seems to know his stuff / in the loop as he leaked info of AC/DC photo shoot before offical photos were being released a little while back so he has some credit as at that stage he was told he could release some info but no photos when the AC/DC LE's were having their offical photo shoot.
Here is what he stated today:
"I know it has 3 flippers, kind of a reverse Tron layout. 2 ramps Pro, 2 1/2 ramps LE.
Avengers is my thoughts as the info, hints, intel whatever you call it I've got over the last 5 months. People say Stern doesn't release games at the time of a movie, BUT being Avengers I think this may be different. I say they use the Blu-Ray footage from Captain America, Iron Man 2, and Thor, PLUS all the Avengers trailers footage. So there is plenty to work from on this title. (my opinion on this) I hope it's got that MF'r Sam Jackson voiceovers in it
MIB is a rumor I know but I'm just not quite sold on that as the next title. Resident Evil may be down the line but not now.
The Pro is suppose to get ready to build end of April for overseas like the normal cycle of games production. I do know the official announcement will be in mid April or so.
DMD game, no LCD. I know for fact it is comic book related. So take that to the bank."
here is a photo of Steve Ritchie testing out a game - could it be the next game - testing / sharing his thoughts on the game. Also notice the purple glow on the apron...... isn't that the Avengers colour ?
-
Interesting. That's the same title I keep hearing - Avengers.
-
I heard the same from my mate over there .
It's the right theme to make a awesome pinball .
Interesting. That's the same title I keep hearing - Avengers.
-
I hope it isn't MIB or RE......I really hope it isn't one of those two.
Avengers is the right choice.
-
I cannot say I am looking forward to either a MIB III or THe Avengers movie or pinball machine
-

What about Prometheus, the Alien prequel due in June?
As much as I am looking forward to the Avengers film and possible pin, this looks like the best sci fi film in YEARS. Of course with Ridley Scott at the helm again and shot in 3d it has enormous potential and from the traliers looks like he has shown all others how to make a real prequel. These trailers imo are outstanding and the buzz is really starting to build.
It is shaping as one of the big ones for 2012 along with the hunger games( seeing that tonight), avengers and the dark knight rises.
-
What about Prometheus, the Alien prequel due in June?
I cannot see Prometheus as a pinball, nor Blade Runner, nor any of the Alien movies
IMHO, a pinball should be fun to play, MM, WH2O, AFM, all great games that have a lot of humor about them
LOTR, a good game with a deep ruleset, but a drudge to play
MIB I was saved though good editing, watching the behind the scenes stuff shows alot of crap was dumped from the movie
MIB II was an aweful movie
Barry Sonnenfeld (director) has not had a good movie in a LONG time

Sorry I should have been more clear..I'm not talking about that as a pin at all...pins are same old same old...next title is pretty much the same as the last, change a bit here..a toy there..whammo new pin!...just a great new movie to look forward to and if your a sci fi fan this can't get here quick enough.

Richard's responce on Pinside's thread is a classic.

Richard's responce on Pinside's thread is a classic.
I can't find it, do you have a link?
-
Titled "Borg's Latest" - look for RGR.
Ps - still learning to use this IPhone 4s.
-
yes, I believe 100 percent it is definately going to be the Marvels Superheroes pinball for sure.
The link i placed on the ac/dc thread, with the explanation and picture of the "marvels superheroe's A4 piece of coloured paper" on the guys wall at stern who does the dotmatrix designs, says to me that it is not a co-incidence the game is getting made. I hope its a cracker of a game and they dont rush it. Cant wait to see the great artwork. ^^^
** I think u are on the money Swinsksy, super heroes/avengers will be great. I also think Stern meaningly gets these guys to leak info to get us all drooling as well. Smart move.
-
IMO Avengers pinball would generally appeal to a wider audience than MIB and Resident Evil. Particularly so if they do a good job on the artwork and some catchy toys. It also ticks the boxes of lastability of theme, although the humour of MIB could be pretty good...

It was a screen grab from a few months ago from one of Stern's in house videos showing Borg and Gomez standing over the playfield layout with the caption, "Gomez gives Borg's new design seal of approval".
Being so long ago I've lost track of which vid it was - I'll see if I can dig it up.
-
Fingers crossed it is The Avengers and it turns out to be a good fast player.
The potential is certainly there with the theme and the amount of characters that's for sure.
-
I got a call today for a media screening of the Avengers on mon morning 16th April.
At last look there has been very good feedback from the intial test screenings even though at this stage this film runs over 2hrs and 30mins.
Final cut may be shorter but this looks like it will be the longest Marvel film of the series and rightly so...there is much to cover.
I hope they make the pin either as a Avengers film based pin or a Marvel superheroes pin using traditonal comic book art like JD.
I would prefer the comic book take on the pin but I can bet it will be film related and will be the Avengers if it gets done to maximsie exposure with the film.
Either way I'm happy IF they make it AND it is a good player.

Not nessasarily
Pinball 2000 was developed on the WPC platform
you may as well work on the playfield with a boardset that works, while the updated boardset is still being worked on

a guy in the know has just released this
"Borg's game production starts in about 30 days for the Pro (Europe). 2 ramps,
3 flippers, captive balls, multiple ball interaction toys, scoop, a magnet or two +, a VUK that serves somewhat of 2 different exits or speed you could say to start things off. Custom molded toys, nothing from Kmart. No drop targets. The upper right flipper is supposed to have 4 shots alone. The main toy is an all new mech that is fresh and never been done before. When people see the layout, it it will remind them of a reversed Tron kind of feel.
Pricing for Pro and LE back to Transformers flavor. The game will be very ball interaction heavy which is what I like. I'd say the LE (2 1/2 ramps) is looking at July release knowing the past timeline of games. Can't wait to see Magneto action "
-
Nice bit of Info Swinks .
So does he think it's avengers ?
-
This guy who released this info also released the previous info so it seems he is a inside or has insider access. He was suggesting for a while that it was the Avenger but just recently trying to bum steer the view onto X-Men and a few off track options that just didn't seem right.
-
Doesn't the picture you put up Swinks have Dr Zoidberg from FUTURAMA on it , that would be a cool pinny too !
-
The guy said that a particular girl likes to put figures up and pictures up on the glass to confuse people of where the machine could be going in theme - she is known for it.

Some of the games John Borg has designed are -
1995-10 Apollo 13 Sega

I have some of these games designed by Borg, and I really like apx half of the list he did. Some were a little lame because of title/topic but some I really like to play are * Last Action Hero, Frankenstein, Apollo 13, Guns N Roses, Star Wars, Lost World JP Sega, Tales from the Crypt, Iron Man, Tron Avatar, were all pretty good.
I am interested in this toy which supposedly has never been done before ? !@# that will be interesting !
Sounds like its going to be the Marvel Super Hero's Avenger to me. X-Men etc definately too old hat too come to fruition i reckon.
'We shld soon start seeing some pictures IF production is starting. The reverse layout of Tron will be alot like Frankenstein which is basically Tron inverted sideways Right to Left and it has MANY shots and is a excellent game to play with heaps to keep you very busy. If the layout is like Franky, it will be a cracker of a game. ^^^ ^^^
-
could it be the next clue - photo from stern's facebook page, maybe a marvel comic pin with avengers being the main focus. If Marvel could ride the coat of the movies but gets around some of the licence stuff just Marvel.
-
The movie has premiered and the initial buzz is very positive.
I'm looking forward to seeing it on Monday. *%*
-
Amazing film, easily the best of all the MARVEL efforts by a long long way.
Insanely good fun with top notch perfomances from a stellar cast, it has a wonderfull sense of humor to combine with mind numbing action.
The 3rd act is HUGE...REALLY HUGE!
No spoilers, if you are a superhero fan you should get a BIG kick out of this movie. If not it is still a great popcorn movie.
^^^ ^^^
-
Awesome CC, can't wait to see it, and hope the next pin from Stern is this and is even better than Iron Man and others.

I was just emailed from a good source that Avengers is not the title ^&^

Awesome CC, can't wait to see it, and hope the next pin from Stern is this and is even better than Iron Man and others.
It really is a cracker, if your a MARVEL fan alone you will be blown away but this will stand up over time as one of the best superhero films made. Some nice lead ins for upcomming and possible films down the track as well.
The 3d is so/so and I am waiting to see it in 2D when released.
If the next stern pin is this and it is true to the film it could be EPIC.
Fingers crossed.

I was just emailed from a good source that Avengers is not the title ^&^
If that's true, BUMMER!

WHAT TITLE are Stern doing next ? thats the 64 million dollar question ? other than the Avengers movie, what other decent/reasonable movies are getting around ?
since we all know Stern hooks up with movie titles and rarely anything else, what title could it be ? I cant think of any decent movies at all. The Hunger Games movie was totally over rated and very weak compared to how it could have been made (the fight scenes/fight games were lame to say the least).
Can anyone think of a decent title Stern could be doing ? !@# !@# !@#
-
Hopefully not another Batman pinnie.
-
He wouldn't tell me , and I tried hard .
All he said was it was an unusual name .
Maybe Resident Eveil ?
-
Octonauts. Awesome, the kids will be stoked! Lol.

The hunger games was twilight in disguise and aimed at a kiddie market, quite disturbing given the subject matter.
I kenw nothing about the film before I saw it and was very disapointed and now have no desire to see the sequels.
I don't really care what title stern do next as they wont give it 100% anyway.

Sorry to break the Bad news boys
X-men is the next title
-
X-men is the next title
Not a fan of X-men....is there a movie coming out?
-
Sorry to break the Bad news boys
X-men is the next title
X-men is cool, allows some creativity in there, not sure when the next movie is unless the rumours have been saying it's a comic theme so artwork maybe interesting, time will tell.
Is your source a insider, how guaranteed is it?
-
X men could be a great pin. Might have to hold off an AC/DC ???
-
It will take a epic title to be better fun than AC/DC. I cant see it being X-Men at all. Why now, why after so many movies from that franchise ? It doesnt make sense. My money is STILL on Marvel Superhero title or even Resident Evil. (so much prefer Resident Evil for its dark theme, very cool)
!@# Someone said the next title was a unusual name ? how about PROMETHIUS.
That would be a cracker of a pinny for sure. That movie looks GREAT.
Perhaps Stern is so busy with AC/DC etc, that they have pushed creating new other titles back alot. There should be some BUZZ about the next 2 or 3 titles coming out of Stern, but there is absolutely nothing filtering out at all.
-
Disappointing it is not the Avengers, but I do want to see this movie.
X-Men is a great license and should have some awesome artwork package.
-
X-men is the next title
Not a fan of X-men....is there a movie coming out?
There is another origins film( cyclops I think) on the horizon this year as well as another wolverine film slotted for next year or 2014.
First Class was easily the best X-men film, the rest apart from the original are pretty ho-hum.
It should be a good pin, lots to work with.
-
pulled this quote from pinside:
"X-men is next by Borg and has been confirmed. YES CONFIRMED!
Avengers is rumored to be after that by Gomez.
They wanted to get pics released by now but the AC/DC delay is preventing that. They want AC/DC out in the hands of the buyers before they release pics of X-Men. Now I'm hearing that pics won't be released until the first week of May."
-
Definately makes sense.
Borgs designs are usually on the money aboput 60 to 70 percent of the time.
Gomez designs have been also on the money the majority of the time, although I felt the Transformers LE extra playfield stuff was rushed/mediocre.
Gomez designs are >
Attack from Mars
Batman - Stern
48 - Stern
Corvette
Johnny Mnemonic
Monster Bash
NBA Fastbreak
Playboy® - Stern
Revenge From Mars
The Lord of the Rings - Stern
The Lord of the Rings (Limited Edition)
The Sopranos® - Stern
Transformers - All 4 models
The battle here for Stern IF those two models (X-Men and Avengers) are getting made, will be a battle firstly over artwork. That will be the first decider for alot of collectors, followed closely by playfield design to tick all the boxes. I am hoping they are going to keep the Red LED dotmatrix for the Australian models and the audio upgrades. When i emailed Stern and asked if these upgrades would continue, they nicely avoided the question, so only time will tell. Exciting times ahead. ^^^
-
I don't think any future titles will top ACDC - it'll be Stern's # 1 forever.
Unless Kiss come knocking on GS's door.
-
Just got some strong confirmation from from very reliable source - AVENGERS next title! ^&( no more money *.*
-

I hope you are right, even though on pinside reliable sources are saying X-Men I would prefer Avengers over it.
I think stern are wise to hold off info release so they can sell a heap of AC/DC's.
Let us know if you hear any more.

I hope your right,i am looking forward to the next title and would prefer Avengers but i think X-Men would also be good.I am cashed up and really want to buy NIB but only if Stern puts out a great playfield layout ect and do not cut corners with the finished product.

totally agree and maybe with the timing of WOZ coming out as competition maybe the quality and technology may change (for the better I hope).
-
Another Stern Rush Job, Yeah ::)
Forgive my pessimism <.>
-
I dont think we will see a new title coming out/ready for distribution from Stern for at least 3 to 4 plus months *minimum.
When it does come, it will be a cracker. Stern knows it has set the bar high with AC/DC.
AC/DC will take another 3 plus months before the production line even comes close to being free of Acca Dacca.
-
Isn't every 3-4 months the standard title release cycle anyway? - 3-4 titles per year equals 1 every 3 to 4 months.
As for the drawn out production cycle for ACDC, this was in my view entirely planned by Stern as a deliberate response to WOZ to draw as much attention away from JJP just as the WOZ production cycle was "ramping up" and the increased interest would boost sales over and above the LE 1000 and into the regular WOZ production run.
The first Pro's hit Aus in what January and it is now the end of April? Marketing 101 create a sense of urgency/demand with your consumer base by drip feeding product to them.
ACDC was always going to sell well given the pinball demographic, regardless of gameplay. As long as Stern included the standard core songlist as a soundtrack on permanent rotation, then gameplay will usually takes a backseat.
I've said it before, but 80% of the ACDC layout was already designed as a rejected Avatar template back in 2008. Not trying to be a downer to those who have laid out the cash for one, but it is what it is.
Stern wants to be the only kid on the block again, that way they can go back to cutting costs (plastic pegs) and effort (unfinished code). They know these LE prices are not sustainable amongst the home market in the long term, (for argument's sake to round out 2012 - Avengers, X-men and MIB LE versions at 9250 apiece who's buying?) but they need to squash their main opposition before they can.
In the meantime, squeeze what you can out of the home collector market until there is nothing left to squeeze.
The only positive I have found out all of this, is that it makes a restored Bally Williams A list title in the 6-7 range a bargain. #@#
-
I meant production/release of the new models will be put back meaningly another 3 or more months, so a release is more likely to be 5 or 6 months away, if not more. Orders for AC/DC world wide are bigger than the last few models put together. Production of Pro machine has reached 700 ish already, then add the 500 combined LE's, then add in the Premium which should reach around 500 if it keeps selling like it has. Good numbers in a crappy world economy, and thats in the first 3 or 4 months.
I think the drawn out cycle for AC/DC was more to do with selling/moving as much Transformer stock as possible, plus using the time to get AC/DC 4 models right before release. Dont forget, there hasnt been a price increase at Stern for any Pro stock for over 3 plus models now, considering it is a flat worldwide market. Stern says it is trying to make machines more affordable, more attainable to more people. The price freeze has helped alot.
Big difference to most between $5950 and the std $6600 etc. Last Pro was $400 to $650 more, this AC/DC Pro is the lowest cost Pro to date, and probably the best with upgraded audio board and new LED red display. Stern has added value and decreased the purchase price at the same time. They have done well here.
The new Pro models at $5950 make older games look overpriced. We have all seen prices of older games dive.
Who knows what the future will hold, but I am hopeful that Stern is on the right track with Steve Ritchie settling for nothing but the best for the pinball customer. Exciting times ahead i am hoping/thinking.
If the AC/DC playfield was rejected before, it doesnt mean its not a excellent layout. Its one of the most functional and usable playfields I have played. Its a great layout.
I think you will find the cost cutting days are mostly numbered at Stern. AC/DC Pro might ? have proved that. Its more machine for less.
Stern had better be heading the right way after such a good effort with acdc. One would hope things keep getting better and better. I dont think they have far to go to be making great titles accross the board. As long as they listen to their customers.
-
Outside of Aus/NZ, ACDC is not selling quite as red hot as is being made out, particularly in the US which have the Pro's at an even lower price point than here in Aus (mid to low $4kUS).
As said before, it was expected that ACDC would be a strong seller in both Aus and NZ and that is where most of the collector money is tied up at the moment here in Aus. By comparison in the US, where ACDC sales would be considered lukewarm to moderate, there is currently a renewed interest and demand for classic B/W A list titles (CV,TOTAN,MB,MM and AFM et al). All of these titles are being listed on both ebay US and US based forums for good dollars (and they are getting those dollars too.)
A couple of auctions in the US to consider:
Here is your market for an MM in the US currently:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190668457525?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619
Here is one for CC:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item2c639df25a&item=190649856602&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=mqlnmVjYH3j29wCM5X4ALUNRw9k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Here are a couple for AFM:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=140738822697&nma=true&rt=nc&si=oyWcF1%252B1ZR0rM%252F8hMqJM7mQepis%253D&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
We'll see where this one ends up:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221006422627?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
There are a couple of others for a TOTAN and CV which sold at $7k each but these were on US based pinball forums so I won't link to them out of courtesy.
Putting it another way, US collectors are being given a choice of $4200 for a NIB ACDC or a used in good condition 15 year old B/W title for almost double that and they are opting for the latter? #*#
Once the hype dies down for Stern's latest, and the bank accounts start to replenish we'll see similar price movements here. ()

Brian Eddy would have something to say about that - far as I know Gomez had nothing to do with AFM.

Its hard to speculate about other countries brand new in box pinball sales of any title because no real figures are given out (incl the USA) and only STERN has the real figures. The rest is just guessing. The only indirect way to track game numbers is to look at machine serials/game numbers under a playfield.
I am not so sure about people paying more money for late model Bally/Williams titles which can be ? over rated for the money charged. Prices have died in Australia. Every year for the past 3 years, prices keep dropping with many copies/new machines coming in from o/seas container sellers.
Re the USA prices, dont forget they have 400 million people, 20 times the people to share only a few thousand numbers of a B/W title, so prices will be higher over there pro rata because of supply n demand. I dont know how anyone can say collectors in the USA are choosing older games over new machines, thats a guess not backed up by fact IMHO. But yes, B/W dmd machines will always be popular.
I dont believe in the hype tag at all about AC/DC. If the machine was expected to be great, and it was crap, I might call it hype, but when the machine is expected to be excellent, and then it arrives and is considered to be a excellent title by all the owners, there is no hype.
I am just hoping more and more people who have older dmd machines, give the new Pro titles like AC/DC a decent go/try, because value for money, I would take a new Pro over any B?W title any day of the week. The AC/DC machines are that good, even if you dont like Acca Dacca.
I am pumped about the new models coming out of Stern, it shld be a batch of fun looking and playing the new offerings.
-
I dont know how anyone can say collectors in the USA are choosing older games over new machines, thats a guess not backed up by fact IMHO.
As they say on those super fund commercials, "Compare the pair".
This AFM:
http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&rt=nc&item=221006422627
versus this lowest price ACDC available on ebay with no sales:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-DC-Pro-Pinball-Machine-by-Stern-New-/180815807391?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1976439f
The 16 year old unrestored AFM which started at $100, had surpassed the price of a NIB ACDC Pro model in under 2 hours of being listed. That gives a fairly good indication of what US pinball collectors are choosing to spend their disposable income on in this "crappy world economy".
It is now approaching ACDC US Premium price and there are still 5 days left for the auction to run.
Another?
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p4340.l2565&rt=nc&item=190668457525
A 15 year old unrestored MM which started at $8k should in theory have received no bids since the starting price is more than a US ACDC premium.
Serious US collectors are fairly astute as to what will hold and what won't.
A pinball collector/flipper in the US is currently trying to trade a 1 of 200 only NIB LTBR LE AND a HUO POTC for a Big Bang Bar while the "non-hype" is in overdrive. Not 1 of the approximate 200 BBB owners are currently biting.....
What is the exact number pinnies4me? 188? 198? around that number anyway.
Bottom line is CofT, you like the game/theme and that is all there is to it. It personally isn't my cup of tea, but who cares whether anyone else likes it or not, right? ^^^
-
I think you will find the cost cutting days are mostly numbered at Stern.
Of all the ACDC machines sold to members of this forum, over 50% have had a fault/ issue so far... scratches from factory, bodged clear coat, balls getting stuck... one member even had 2 NIB that didnt work at all. MPU's are surface mount components ( cheaper to produce, almost impossible to fix). Some of these are not the great priced model at under AU$6000, but a AU$10,000 super machine
The days of Stern cost & corner cutting will never be over... its what fuels the engine

No-one really knows the real final tally, there were 182 or 183 pre-sold. Then they assembled some more after all pre-sales were delivered and sold them off, at least half a dozen, maybe a couple more. All I know is that it was not more than 198 - they started with 200 playfields and I have one spare and know of one other, so 198 is the cap.
I saw that post and thought it a bit cheeky, offering a couple of readily sourced games, but you never know, it was worth a post by the guy chasing the BBB just in case.

The movie opens today!! #*#
Taking the kids to see it this arvo after the Anzac day march in the city.

PINSANITY,
Alot of the things you have said I agree with. You know this industry very well, as do I. Whether its a older machine B/W, or a ACDC or perhaps the new Avengers Pinball that may be coming out, it doesnt matter what machine is selling, as long as they are selling. Thats what keeps this pinball industry/hobby pumping along and healthy. We all have diverse tastes and diverse collections, and thats what makes this a really interesting hobby.
I am not saying anything u are saying is wrong, not at all, I am just looking at some things from a different angle thats all. We are both correct ofcourse, or both wrong.lol but having differing views makes this place interesting.lol
I used to be on the fence about Stern, but after playing the Transformers Pro, then playing a Tron, then playing a ACDC Pro, I jumped off the fence and became a proud supporter of Stern. Had u have told me that a year ago i would have said no way hosay.
*I have been lucky enough to send and recieve some emails backwards and forwards to Steve Ritchie/Lyman Sheats and a few other Stern heavy hitters, and the energy and the positivity coming out of Stern is exciting to me. Probably to alot of other Stern customers as well.
One day in the next 12 or 24 months I might seriously look into a AFM or a Bally/Williams that u have mentioned, a B/W that i havent got, but I think I would rather buy a BNIB Stern IF its up to scratch for the 6 grand. I am just hoping the new Stern models kick ass, if they dont I will be dissapointed.
It would be a shame for Stern to make up all this new ground, and to lose it at the last second with a new mediocre offering. The next few titles Stern offers MUST be friggin great to keep the collectors happy. Hopefully, there is alot of people sitting on the edge of their seats to see the new titles, hopefully Avengers.

It was great to see the film in a packed cinema full of fans on opening day as opposed to a much tamer media screening with a few boffins present.
The cinema was abuzz with cheering, jeering, clapping and laughing and many applauded as the final credits began to roll. A rarity these days for sure.
My kids are still awestruck after seeing this and I'm keen to see it again very soon. Bye bye hunger games as the top earner of the year.
I still hold out hope that this will be the next stern title but it would want to be a top shelf effort from the design team to get it anywhere near the realms of what the film achieves otherwise it will hardly be worth the effort.
Stern has a got a massive task in front of them if they choose to do this title and do it right.
-
did you see it in 3D or regular. Local cinema has it as 3D so thinking of going at the end of the week.

3D again, the boys love 3D. I still want to see it in 2D as well, maybe next week sometime.
-
Couldn't help myself, went and got another dose of the film this morning in 2D.
I prefered this to the 3D by a country mile. Missus chucked a sickie and came along with me, she loved it!
It will be a while if ever before I get sick of this, it's right up there with my fav films of all time. Watching this makes me feel like a kid again going to see star wars or raiders etc for the first time.

No way in the world, Ironman the pin is extreme and with tony playing such a big role in the Avengers and IM3 slotted for next year this pin will become a classic. It is staying right here with me.
I will be putting Avengers right next to it if stern come up with the quality goods required to make this pin and do it right.
-
When will stern be letting the pinball world know what it's next title is, whatever it is? (((
-
after they sell another few thousand excellent ACDC machines, is when the next title might surface via some media..
I think everything will take a backseat til the ACDC production line slows down, but it might be many months away with Acca Dacca selling so well.
I also cant wait to see what STERN have lined up next, but I prefer to get a Steve Ritchie title, so it might be a while away, unless the next few machines are great from Borg or Gomez. !@# I think they are going to step things up. I am really interested to see the next artwork.

Saw Avengers 3D tonight, one word - awesome. Top action and good humour (Daz I am sure you know what I am talking about when hulk and lokki are together and lokki says he is god - shit that was funny the whole cinema roared out laughing) and lots of potential to create an awesome pinball.
Stern would be mad not to do something with this.

" Puny God!" :lol
Yep Hulk steals the film for mine, that scene with loki is priceless and had the cinema just errupt in laughter and the other scene when he gives Thor a little tap...lol.
Mark Ruffalo was brilliant as Bruce Banner. They were all great, I can't fault any of the performances.
The thing that makes this work so damn well is everyone has their quality lines( the sceenplay is a cracker) and action...wow what action..that one shot in the final battle where it doesnt cut and showcases all of the avengers in full fight is breathtaking, Whedon really has a done a fantastic job on this film and I can't wait to see it again..lol...let alone the wait for a sequel...lets hope Josh decides to helm the sequel as well.
What did you think of the 3D?
As for the pin yep it could be insanely EPIC but now you know what I mean when I say Stern have a massive job in front of them to do this thing RIGHT if they decide to.
-
when he gives Thor a little tap...lol.
that was a top one also, made everyone laugh.
-
The best popcorn movie of the year easily and will prob be the best earner too. We will have to wait and see how well the Dark Knight Rises does, I'm looking forward to the outcome of Nolans batman series, they have been great films and I hope this one is as good as the last two.
Avengers is the best MARVEL film by a mile and maybe the best super-hero film ever made. Ironman 3 and Captian America 2 to come as well in the next year or two as well as a new character in a stand alone MARVEL film before the Avengers sequel. #*#
-
I will go n see this Avengers movie tomorrow and report back. You guys have talked it up so I am hoping its alright. I am hoping its aimed at adults and not the young teenager crowd. Its always rated for teenager crowd if its predictable, hoping its not prdeictable and u are sitting on your seat wondering whats next.
Ironman movies x 2 were very predictable n boring. Hope thios is extra better than that.

The whole film world is talking it up and rightly so.
If your looking for film like the Dark Knight your up the wrong alley, this is comic book popcorn not comic book film noir. This is not a what happens next film, it's a strap in, hang on and enjoy film. If you are a MARVEL fan you will love it but you don't have to be a comic book fan to enjoy it.
It's a comic book adaptation it is aimed at kids upwards. Maybe it's not for you.
Ironman was was brilliant, 2 was disapointing.
-
it's a strap in, hang on and enjoy film.
Hmmm, think I'll have to see this one....Loved Ironman 1 too.

I havent seen this yet but i know quite a few who have... not one negative comment from all of them. Every one just says IT IS AWESOME from the word go right to the end.
I hate going to the cinema but might have to go see this on the big screen
-
It's worth lining up and seeing with a big crowd, the atmosphere is so cool.
If you do go to the cinema don't leave right away after the film...during the credits there are more goodies not to be missed. ^^^
-
I'm looking forwad to seeing it today with the kids. $#$ Any up dates on a possible pin anyone?
-

All MARVEL/Super-hero fans that I know are sweating on this as the next Stern title and the majority of them are not pinheads.
I know people who enjoy pinball and would never consider buying one besides from super-hero themes and will buy a Avengers pinball if it is made.
Fingers crossed it happens and is as epic as the film is.
-
I took the family last night to see the movie , it's about 2hrs and 20 mins long.
What a movie ! fantastic .Guys go and see it .
What an awesome pinball this would make .
I just can't see it X Men in front of this ? it don't jell with me .
Just a thought , do you think Gary might come out with an LE Iron Man ?
-

Glad you enjoyed it mate, it sure is a cracker and I am off to see it again today.... #@# 3 times since wed...lol. I like X Men as well but Avengers would leave it for dead in the pinball dept.
I was going to ask in another thread...was there ever a LE Ironman made? I wish they did!
-
I don't think there was , because I don't have it :lol
-
I don't think there was , because I don't have it :lol
Yeah I thought that right after typing my last response... &^&
It would have been a cracker, the pro Ironman is a insane machine.
-
If they produced a avengers pinball, I could see a number of LE's - hulk flavored one as well as a iron man, Thor, captain American. - so many opportunities.
-

Damn that would cause me some real headaches as to which one to buy if that was the case.
I would prefer just a standard LE like spiderman black...say Avengers LE shield version or something like that.
-
$76 million in the opening 3 days and it hasn't even hit screens in the big markets of US, Russia or Japan yet.
2nd highest first day opening of all time in Aus.
-
Just come back from seeing this film... you guys are right.. its a bloody cracker and would make a GREAT pinball machine.
One thing that struck me during the film.. theres just as much action as the transformers films, but i can see whats going on.. Transformers was a big blur for me.
Loving the Marvel films.. bring on the next one and its made me extra keen to get my Spiderman finished ( even though he's not in this film.. but it is classic comic book and great pop art)

Spidey does become part of the Avengers in the comic books down the track but seeing that the 2 franchises are owned by different studios it could be a big hurdle to get the webslinger involved in future sequels. I would love to see spidey in there too, they are working on it...fingers crossed but with another spiderman reboot this year it looks unlikely but you never know.
The difference between TF and Avengers films comes down to the screenplays and directors...Whedon can direct and Bay is well he is Bay and his films apart from the original Bad Boys and The Rock are pretty ordinary. If Whedon had done Transformers they would have been much better films.
The best thing for me about the Avengers besides from the fantastic dialogue and action you can follow is seeing Scarlett Johansen in that skin tight leather...damn she is soooo hot!
Lets hope that Stern get this done and give it the full treatment.
I'm keen to see your spidey when it is finnished!
-
International takings now at 178.4 million with it still to open in the big markets on May 4.
Hulk smash box office..... :lol

Wait for Voltron to be released - the "real" defender of the universe!
-
Wait for Voltron to be released - the "real" defenders of the universe!
" defender of the universe"
Loved the cartoons, it has been talked about being done for awhile and now it looks like relativity and atlas will bring this to the brig screen hopefully.
The screenplay is now in development but that is only the first of many hurdles in getting a project off the ground.
It will be great if they can get it done but it will want to be something special to top the Avengers.
-
I would love to see a live action "Gatchaman" aka" Battle of the planets" as well.

Cool link, thanks.
Lets hope he did attend or knows about it.
The more super-hero/ comic or cartoon based pins the better.
These themes span generation after generation, they are timeless and will always be in demand long after most other movie themes, band themes and generic themes etc are distant memories.

Wow, I used to have the red one and my brother had the blue and yellow lions. Of course they got broken during kid battles back in the day. So cool to see them in great condition and being played with again.
That's awesome mate, took me back to my childhood...super cool! ^^^
Also remember having the original Thunderbird toys as well...ahhh the memories.
-
Very interesting...
-
It's official..I have Avengersitis, I have seen this movie 4 times since opening, 5 counting the pre release media screening and I am planning on going again very soon.
-
I went and saw the Avengers movie tonight with my 12 yr old daughter and her 12 yr old friend.
I rated the movie a 7 out of ten.
My daughter rated it a 7 out of ten
My daughters friend rated it a 8 out of ten (only cause she liked the hulk she said.lol)
It was no better than the Ironman films, or no worse. It was very very similar in many ways. Almost like mixing Captain America and the Ironman movies together. A fun movie yes. A massive blockbuster, No. (start was a bit slow/dragged out)
Worth a watch, yes/probably for most who like this style of movie. I liked Ironman and Captain America etc and gave Ironman a 7, and Captain America a 8.
Worth making a pinball machine after, probably. Would I watch it again, honestly, NO. The kids said the same thing.
If u havent watched it, and u like Ironman or Captain America movies, u will probably like this, but dont expect anything hugely different.
Feels very similar to alot of new releases of late. Transformers was a better movie for me all day long.
Also, STERN could probably capitalise on the film and bring back and out a limited run/special limited addition run of 50 or 100 machines of the Iron Man pinball. (Use exsisting Ironman pinball and just add cosmetic changes to cabinet, lockdown bar n hinges etc, and maybe give machine LEDs etc) because Ironman carries this film in everyway. They could have called this movie Ironman 3 and most would have probably thought this was the norm.
-
I also went and watched it tonight with the boy who's 14 and still goes out with dad lol and we both loved it but maybe abit long as at my age I tend to fall asleep :) would make a great pinball title me thinks
Peter

A massive blockbuster.....hell yes..why..because the def of blockbuster is ticket sales and by the time this has finnished it will be in the top 5 money earners ever made.
-
Just caught this film - overall a heck of a fun action movie, agree with the "Ironman 3" comments, Stark was the featured character - I think not as much due to screen time but Downey's presence, he is the most accomplished actor in it I think.
-
still been thinking of the possibilities.....
Stern could have a bit of fun with the looks of the machine with a wide variety of LE looks.
- Standard machine - cabinet art with all the characters
- Hulk LE - green trim and hulk green cabinet graphic
- Capt. America LE - chrome trim, stars and stripes & himself of course cabinet graphic
- Iron Man LE - candy red trim, IM gold and candy red cabinet graphic
- Thor LE - Metallic gun metal Grey Trim, Thor black and grey cabinet graphic
Just wish the pro and premium had the same playfield, same rules, same game play with maybe just the differences being trim, serial number, back glass and maybe some of the playfield plastics and some custom toys varying for the LE's.
The Pro could have a standard red DMD, and the LE's with the colour dmd (lcd) that has been brought out for the AFM.
-
Who is designing the AVENGERS from Stern I wonder ? (IF its a definate production title)
The RIGHT designer makes a game. The WRONG designer could kill it.
IF IT WAS Steve Ritchie, great, but maybe he has been far too busy with AC/DC.
Just wish there was SOMETHING from someone/somewhere which was concrete evidence. Hmmmmmmm. ^&^

From Stern's Facebook page posted on Saturday - "The Stern Team is off to see an awesome movie today. What are your plans?"
mmmm, Stern Team, awesome movie, Avengers ?, pin inspiration ? pin in sync with movie ????
-
Good pick up Swinksy. Looks like it might be Avengers after all. $#$
-
The only negative is that if they were doing it you would have thought they would have been given a pre-screening opportunity - I would like it but gut still thinks not.
Remember the video in London with the first unveiling of the AC/DC and someone asked them what there next machine would be - to me that sort of suggested something a little left field where Avengers seems a little too obvious.

I spoke with Gary on the phone 4 days ago , and as usual he was very tight lipped .
What he did say was that the next few releases will be very exciting .
So could there be another 2 or 3 pins by the end of the year ?
A couple of Dist in the US have told me X-men then Avengers or Resident Evil .
-
681 Million at the box office already in just 2 weeks and still hulk smashing records!!
Will join the exclusive 1billion+ club easily.
-

Can't hardly imagine him saying "the next few releases will be boring dogs" can ya????? !*!

A thread on Pinside started by Gap is taking people's names for the next Stern Pinball to be made public at the end of the month:
"Fairly soon, toward the end of the month. hopefully. Playfield looks very cool and fast from what I could see of it."
"Smoother and faster than Tron from what I hear."
-
LOL ,
He wanted to tell me more but some bloke in the room with was telling him to keep quite .If he was alone I would of had it .

Swinksy, what does that mean, Gap/he is taking names. ? I didnt understand what that meant. Taking names to buy one or taking names to guess what the title is ? or taking names for something else.? !@#
Resident Evil sounds so dam good. Avengers movie was mediocre so hoping pinny is much better.
-
Gap has a business selling pins located 20 minutes from Stern and has a bit of access to Stern. What he meant by his post is that anyone wanting to buy off him can register there name and they will be alerted of any info when deposits can be taken, when the next pin is advertised to dealers. He and some other dealers have a option of buying early at a much cheaper rate so it is worthwhile to buy in early through these guys. He said to buy a Tron LE saved people about $1500 if they bought in at first option.
-
It would be nice to be located near STERN in the USA to take up his offer. (If i lived near STERN I would go n work there for a few months)
Hopefully Bruce/AMD will have some super deals on the next few titles, espescially the PRO models around $5950.?
* IF it stayed that price it would be nice..
-
One of the big advantages for pinheads in the U.S. is that they have an abundance of Stern distributors who actually have to compete with each other for your pinball dollar.
Reading rgp posts, you have to chuckle when U.S. pinheads complain about the high price of the $6900US ACDC LTBR LE pin (or 4100 Pro version).
-
Please not Resident Evil...anything but that, the worst so called zombie films ever made... just awful movies, they make me wanna puke they suck that much.

Have just seen the movie and I thought it was awesome. I wouldn't say I'm a huge Marvel fan as some of the movies over the years have been very hit and miss IMO, but this one has it all, capped off with a good balance of humour.
If done right this would make a very popular pin.
May even have the wife's blessing if the pin goes ahead because she loved the movie and I dropped a not so subtle hint about it (she loves Iron Man also). I got a response of "Maybe", rather than a straight out no, that's a big deal because I just can't convince her to get a pin of her own.....yet!
Goes to show how important the theme is to giving others the bug too.

Fair enough, you may just get your wish.
I could think of a lot better zombie titles to base it on than this yawnfest of series though.

Theme is up there but having said that I love Star Wars and I don't like the star wars pins.
Hate lotr as a theme and movie series and love the game. This could be the pinball to top all pinballs if done right.
Lets just hope they get thier shit together what ever they do. I am still waiting to see what they do, what it's like and if it stacks up and doesn't suck.
" maybe " is nearly a yes. *%*

Here is a quote from a pinsider that in the past has been fairly correct. He is suggesting that the next pin will be X-Men and Avengers will follow it and X-men is going to be comic art, with custom dmd, custom voices etc.
Here is what he said today:
"Dave Link and Borg sculpted the toys for X-Men, similar to AC/DC and Spider-Man they are custom and fresh.
I'm told the Pro does feel very well featured and a buyer of that model will be happy.
The LE will have some very special treats. 5 mechanical interactive ball toys. A spinning disc magnet like LIS and Twister makes a return. For example it's a disc/magnet in LE and just a magnet like whiplash in Pro."
-
The X-men BG is on sterns Facebook page.

Avengers passes the 1 billion mark in earnings and still going strong!
-
here is another quote from someone who is in the know
"Word is good guys LE and bad guys LE limited to a low number of each "about" 300 per.
No premiums, this will be a TRON LE scenario again. Get on or get shut out ! The trim and special goods are gonna be freaktastic !"
"Same pf and rules in LE's, just cab art, 2 color trims and backglass art differences I'm hearing."
-
Great idea to have it based on the comics and not the films and another great idea to have bad guys and good guys xmen LE and no premium machines.
If the playfields are the same as the pro it looks like Stern are getting it right again.
The backglass art looks good, looking forward to seeing the progress on artwork, shots and toys etc. Could be a cracker pin...fingers crossed, sounds really promising.
-
the word is from a guy in the know...
"I had heard there was a few rolling down the line today.....looks like a photo shoot is close."
-
Stern has posted a photo on their Facebook page....
a Blackbird which is the plane of x-men or Mystique but either way looks like an announcement is coming - X-men
Also many many rumours that this will be comic art, custom dmd graphics, custom sounds / voices
-
Really looking forward to the artwork on this one, dunno if I will buy one or not but I get the feeling it could be something cool.
It sounds like it will be the only MARVEL pin that has not got a film tie in and is based on the comics only and that has to be a very good thing.
Nothing wrong with film tie-ins but MARVEL pins deserve to be comic related first and foremost.
-
looks like this thread will have to be changed to X-men
http://pinballhead.com/rumor-roundup-x-men-pinball-by-stern/
-
It's all good..it's MARVEL!
So good to see that the LE machines will not be any different playfield wise. ^^^
-
Word is the photos will be released mid next week, this guy leaked early the photo shoot of the AC/DC so he has a inside connection:
"Well I wouldn't expect it today, middle of next week sure. I hate giving definite dates because of let downs. All I can say is it's close. And I know they are working on the photo shoot.
Pro has 2 ramps and LE has a special/action additional 3rd"

So the LE are different then...Boooooooooooooooo!!!
-
I asked mnpinball how is the insider about he photo shoot being just the Pro or the Pro and LE, answer
"Both models were designed side by side. A first for Stern Running Pros first with LE's very soon after. Not the long wait like the past 2 models. Borg has not had this long of a design timeline before. This one is cooked and ready to be served "

Interesting...At the moment it seems a bit like there is a game of tug of war. It's good to see competition again, as it makes pinball exciting again. $#$
-
This little quote from the insider is about sound produced by David Thiel.
"All custom each character has own tune and will be the largest sound package to date utilizing the extra memory chip introduced on AC/DC CPU going forward.
He did excellent custom work on TF, SM, IM and Tron. No worries."
"Thiel told me 26 tracks are being created for xmen"
-
"The upper center is a ball lock for Magneto. The paper is covering the spinning magnet/disc. LE has disc/magnet, Pro just magnet. Left pops show the reused IJ raising scoop. Game has no drop targets."
-
So the LE has an extra ramp and a spinning disc...geez wtg Stern, nice way to piss people off.
I was keen on this title but not if the LE and Pro have different playfields.... pass on another joke!
-
It has been reported that a press release of Stern's next pinball will be released this week.
History shows Friday is the popular day so late Friday or Early Saturday we may see the next pin....
Previous press releases were on these days in the states:
TRON LE pics: Sunday April 29th (?)
First TF Pro Playfield - Friday, Sept 9th. (Not sure when the cab pics were released).
TF:LE Pics hit Facebook: Friday, Nov 25th.
AC/DC Pro PF and Cab pics: Monday, Jan 1st (Thanks Treborlicec!)
AC/DC LE Cab pics: Friday, Feb 24th
AC/DC LE Playfield Pics: Friday, March 2nd

Its exciting when a new pinball gets released.

-
the insider has been quoted:
"Gomez has Avengers is the strong rumor.
2 hints:
Talked/hinted about it at TPF in Dallas to "some people".
And hinted about a Hulk shaking a PF in a video post last month.
It would be a fall release. Just heard today it's a possible Super LE like AC/DC $$.
That means Pro/Prem/LE
X-Men is just Pro/LE no Prem."

stern's Facebook page posted this image

more info released:
"The VUK is supposed to have a 2-way action. A fast action flow to ramp.
This LE may sell out faster than AC/DC LE ! If that's possible.
I heard 300/300 of each only. LE's are running first. But that's hearsay."

No pics yet - I think there is going to be some tactics with this release to attempt to release on the same day as JJP's WOZ - speculation at this point.
It has been mentioned that JJP is releasing the WOZ officially to the public on the 5th of June - so possibly (my speculation is) is to reduce the buzz on one machine but get a frenzy happening. Imagine releasing your machine a few days early and then the WOZ is released alot of the focus could shift away from the first. This has it's negatives because JJP is going to be better in technology I believe, and so to compare to a machine with big tech improvements good chance you could lose so the theme has to be what will divide people.
Also Stern received the plastics sets to install yesterday so getting close, but rumour that the translits are yet to arrive.
Borg has had a year to design this machine so hopefully the code, feel and toys are awesome and it was stated by a insider that the Pro and LE were designed next to each other.
Rumoured art to be
Goodguy LE - Wolverine and good guys on the cabinet and backglass with custom blue trim
Badguy LE - Magneto and bad guys on cabinet and backglass with a purple trim
Pro - to have combo art (my guess good on one side and bad on the other)
No premium or no combo LE like on Transformers
Inside says the art will be like this
-
Bring it on, the comic artwork etc I am really looking forward to.
If it is as good as it could be it might distract from the fact that the pro and the le have different playfields.
I really want to grab one of these but I don't want to fork out for a LE full machine when the pro should be the same game. It just doesn't seem right.
-
from pinside
"Latest word is Stern was waiting on the LE backglasses.
That's the delay, once all is together and finalized all will be revealed. Don't see any reason that after labor day we should finally see the completed package. Art work will blow you away is what I'm hearing. Patience everyone. It will be worth it."
-
mnpinball said - "It's sounding like X-Men is going to be a big game changer for Stern from the many people I have talked with. GAP has seen it and a few others I know. The LE is going to be extreme ! I am hearing pricing just under AC/DC LE by a few $100's But the big deal is this will be the most "ball interactive" toys on a Stern pin to date ! Borg went all out on this title."
Gap said - "THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE BORGS BEST WORK! Again it comes down to code, but the game has a lot of toys on it, not Kmart toys, total 5 toys that interact with the game. Stern is adding more and more to their games and this one should please the masses. I won't spill the beans but can't wait for Stern to release photos!"

Certainly alot of hype building around this machine....lets hope it lives up to it.

Certainly alot of hype building around this machine....lets hope it lives up to it.
Basically the same marketing strategy as every Stern release, use figureheads in the US pinball community to deliberately leak info and build hype.
GAP is a Stern distributor in the US, so on a local level that would be the equivalent of AMD in Sydney stating, "this is going to be Borg's best game ever".
What does pecuniary interest mean? :lol
As for mnpinball, firstly he is a loyal repeat buyer of NIB Sterns and secondly, well let's just say that isn't it astonishing that mnpinball has been able to repeatedly get inside info for the last half dozen or so titles, and despite Stern's apparent best efforts they have been unable to plug the leak and the flood of info coming out. (I remember when Steve Ritchie went on rgp last year and made a public statement that the mnpinball "leak" had been fired.)
What does plausible deniability mean? :lol
From now on, I am just going to take every Stern pinball release as it comes (with a grain of salt). Until such time as I can play it in person, and deem it the best/worst game ever. #*#

CC,
I don't want to derail this thread with negativity, but if you are intending to buy a LE full featured model, I don't know whether you will be able to take that approach anymore given Stern's LE marketing strategy.
What I am seeing is a dramatic shift from buying a NIB Stern pinball machine for the intent of enjoying a NIB game experience, to buying a game for the sole purpose of profiteering. That is, snapping up as many LE's models as your budget allows, holding for a month or two in the box (before any major details of the next Stern pin come out) and then flipping for a tidy (few thousand) profit without doing a damn thing to it.
With the money you make on that model, this then goes into funding the next LE model purchase that will come out in a few months time and the cycle repeats itself. Since the hype life cycle is so short for a new Stern LE machine (a few months at most), the "speculator" as I call them, has to offload fairly quickly in order to maximise their return.
Now this is a free market and buyers are allowed to pay whatever they think something is worth, but I do lay part of the blame for allowing this to occur at Stern's doorstep.

Yeah I have been seeing this trend grow.
Joke if you ask me but if some one is that silly to pay 3k or more extra than what it is worth for a pin I say fill ya boots and go hard.
15k for a acdc LE, that is just mental imo! 15k for any pin is mental imo, I don't care how many they made or how good it is.
I am not really that fazed, if I get one I get one but will prob end up buying a nice b/w as they seem to be better bargains atm as everyone is going stern and jjp silly.

from Pingame Journal
"May 30, 2012--Stern's Next Game! (sort of ...)While the official announcement concerning the next Stern game is expected soon, the PinGame Journal presents these images while members of the design team take a look at the new cabinets that just arrived. I know, you can't see the game name or artwork but this is the only way I can show the photos till the press release is released ... but that should be by next week. Stay close."
Here is the challenge, what do you see in the design, might need a few drinks or a de-swirling program.
You see the a fraction of the second cabinet between the 2 guys but nothing to gauge whats going on except - red's and blacks.
-
Can anyone confirm if that is John Borg - guy with the bandaged hand?
I should know the designers but couldn't find a recent photo to compare - reason for asking is Gomez is in it so wondering if maybe it's going to be a different pinball release ?????
-
a guy in the know on pin side made this short statement today
"This wont help because as of today at 2:43 cst The backglass and Decals where not in the building."
but more interesting posted a image ???? maybe suggesting the type of art to expect - is sort of related to the cabinet art in the post prior with red's and blacks.

Pinheads are fairly up to speed on what they see as blatant profiteering and will simply take steps to find a workaround to avoid them (as evidenced by the importing a NIB Stern pin thread.)

unfortunately that's life we all have to eat
Except this is not your bread and butter staple goods, this is the icing on a freshly baked cake with a limited shelf life.
-
plus GST, plus DUTY, plus FREIGHT, plus Power Jumping, and any other costs, and they were $9250 new in Aus
Which amounts to nowhere near $15,000 which was my original point.
why do you sound surprised ? everyone had the same opportunity to buy it blind
the ones that didn't and waited until they seen it, played it, now want it are expecting to pay what ?
Pinheads are fairly up to speed on what they see as blatant profiteering and will simply take steps to find a workaround to avoid them (as evidenced by the importing a NIB Stern pin thread.)

as evidenced by the importing a NIB Stern pin thread ? he wants a tron LE , have you seen the prices of it in the US ?
add 800 for flying it in , over 1k in GST plus 5% duty on top , that tron will cost 13k - 14k min landed - no cheap fix
pick any hard to get pin these days - be it from the US or AU and the cost is up there

So jukeola Did you end up selling that transformers LE? Can remember on another forum you were raving about it being worth $14,000, ^^^
As far as acdc or any new stern being worth that much !!@
yeah ,,, did I say that ? didn't you ask me a few weeks ago to help you find a Spiderman ? good one Ben
the acdc on ebay is at 13.5 already and selling

AC DC LE's are worth $13,500 all day long...
So many sold here in Australia I wonder if any of the sellers have had interest from the big collectors in the states who missed out on placing a pre-order !@#
Remember Stern only made 500 worldwide, supply vs demand will determine the market price.
-
AMD got the early shipment of AC/DCs at AU 1.12 which made the purchase of US products a bargain. I wonder what will happen to NIB prices @ 0.97 and lower?
Dare I say that the OZ will go down to 0.75 by the end of this year.
-
AU$ has been at an unsustainable high for a while.. its not the norm.
Ive been buying stuff from overseas for sometime and i remember laughing when i got 90c! Spent most of the time floating around 80- 85c.
American market is bouncing back and so things will eventually go back to normal market levels

Hard to tell, but I think Gav is right at this point. I don't think we will reach parity again. If it hovers around 90c I'll be happy. I remember paying 60c !!!

if the dollar changes dramatically its a good excuse for a local pinball company to start up

looks like this is now the X-men thread confirmed
I know these parts could be anything but if they used what do you reckon about the spinning disk is that the underside or top side and looks like a subway or cross over ramp concept ????
-
Rumoured to have a MM with pop up trolls on the LE in front of the ramps - maybe with good guys or bad guys or both ???
-
some of the dealers phones are running hot in the states as they are taking deposits, where I contacted AMD yesterday and their focus is AC/DC so looks like Aus may only get a few LE's.
-
AMD will probably put the word out for deposits again as per AC/DC to assess demand.
Even with the slight dollar slip I still predict the LE will retail under $10k here in Aus- too much of a psychological price barrier otherwise.
I think I read somewhere the LE will be 300 and 300 (good versus bad) and no Premium version - just gossip on that one. !@#
Lastly, did Borg dye his hair for the promo? *)*

supposed to have the following - going to be a full machine
Spinning disc/magnet - pro will be just a magnet
2nd Stationary magnet
2 pop up Nightcrawlers (trolls mentioned earlier like in the MM) - Assuming it's the simulation of him teleporting and disappearing - rumoured not to be in the pro version. Graphic for a guessing tease.
Captive ball raising scoop
Moving 3rd ramp - rumoured not to be in the pro version
Upper center ball lock (in the CAD show 4 balls held)
And a surprise or 2 (Wolverine toy ?)

Reading on Pinside they where going to use that on batman , but it was scrapped because of its cost .
I can just see it now , broken plastics everywhere .

from pinball news - purely observations from the video:
"The game appears to feature two ramps - one on the right and a side ramp which is presumably shot from a third flipper on the upper right - and bears more than a little resemblance to a horizontally-flipped Tron design. The ramps' paths are not shown but probably lead the the left and right inlanes.
The upper flipper can also shoot a 'Gem-like' inner loop lane which feeds the left orbit and the pop bumpers, while there is a Quorra-esque inner loop on the right.
There is a spinning disc in the centre which is lit from below by four flash lamps. This sits at the entrance of the centre lane which can also be fed from the top in lieu of top rollover lanes. It's not clear whether there will be a bash toy at the top of the centre lane, but there appear to be two pins which can rise at the entrance to create a captive ball, like the link lane on Avatar.
To the left of the spinning disc is a captive ball mechanism with a magnet in front to throw the ball back at the player.
Just to the left of the magnet is a Flynn's Arcade-like scoop with four triangular inserts indicating the features which can be started there. There are two standup targets on the left of the scoop, with a matching pair on the opposite side of the game.
Down at the bottom of the playfield, there is a single inlane on the left and double inlanes on the right. A large X-Men logo is positioned above the flippers with seven inserts below and a shoot again insert right between the flippers.
The CAD drawing also shows the under-playfield slides which are usually only fitted to the Limited Edition versions but have to be allowed for in the design."
To add they merge a few screen shots to get a feel for the complete playfield.

Just got an email back from a US distributor after making some inquiries.
Production starts at the end of this month. The LE version will have red trim for villains and blue trim for heroes.
US pricing for the LE version as a pre-order is in line with previous titles pricing and will have a 6 in the number (was asked not to disclose exact price publicly for now).

USD$6800 I read
Lower than that.
There is a "pre-order price war" going on in the US at the moment between some of the distributors to secure customer deposits.
No distributor wants to be held to a figure, since another will simply undercut him (hence the non-disclosure request).
Stern should put out a press release early this week with the MSRP so all will be revealed then.
-
Petty we don't see these price wars here , or do we ?
-
Petty we don't see these price wars here , or do we ?
I don't think we do as there is only one import / distributor, though we have a few on-sellers and AMD can't discount as that would affect the on-sellers but if you are buying from AMD direct they are making better dollars than the on-sellers are.
-
"Pro=no spinning magnet disc, no trolls, no 3rd moving ramp, no real backglass, no powdercoat trim, no shaker (although code will support it)."
but pro should have 2 magnets (1 x replacing the le's spinning magnet), 2 ramps, 1 x captive ball raising scoop, upper ball lock (like on Avatar)
"LE - No 12" sub.
Shaker is not confirmed included but most likely will be in the LE. Tron was a learning experience for Stern with the customer outcry on the shaker and the one-slot coin door. I doubt they make the same mistake again
No drop targets, money was put into the other features and I am glad !
Press release is early this week, all will be revealed."

The pro is missing more features than ever and would not be worth the money imo.
With so many crucial features missing from the pro I can't see many of these being sold to homes, operators only I am tipping.
The LE's will sell quickly.
-
I can handle a pro without the spinning magnet if I had to, but not the nightcrawler pop ups as at a guess they will be a integral part of the game play. Stern did IM with a pop-up monger why can't they keep the pop up nightcrawler trolls for the same sort of $.
Or better still Stern should at least make a Premium with all the LE game play features (with pro cabinet and back glass art and black trim) so it allows the owners to pimp the cabinet out if they want. Having this sort of Premium allows everyone to upgrade and not for the lucky few. As good as the AC/DC Premium was it was still entering the LE in looks, back it down a little keeping cost down and probably making a lot more sales - come on GS.
Rough scenario (in the US) pricing should be something like
$4k for a pro
$5k for premium - full game play features
$6k for LE - full game play features, custom cabinet art, real backglass and custom trim
(note pricing is just a scenario but you get the idea)
I just don't get their model.

Stern is so disconnected so the LE sell out fast, then thats it, who gives a damn about xmen if your not one of the lucky 300.the pro sounds like just another stern influenced totally by gary sterns cost-cutting.
-
Agreed with all of the above. It would certainly make me more likely to buy any NIB if I was able to have and/or add to the options on the machine. I think if Stern want to limit people's options by not offering the same play features between different models of the same game then potential customers are more likely to choose an older game when looking for there next machine. Theres lots of good games out there cheaper than any Stern NIB.
-
Stern have been doing a photo shoot the last 8 or so hours but probably giving JJP a go then steal their thunder tomorrow or Friday. Or he is in a panic of how to make it look better than WOZ given he has a dmd.....
-
mnpinballs quotes
Shaker is not included in LE.
For the sake if adding another mechanical toy the shaker was removed in the BOM.

No shaker in LE...WTF
It's official, Stern have lost the plot and it's obvious that they only care about $$$$.
-
I think they are trying to stay under WOZ's price point of $6500 and a extra toy helps game and looks where as a shaker can be added later where a interactive toy probably can't.
I hope there adding the trolls to the pro playfield - wishful thinking.
Suggestion that photos will be released midnight US time ???? so I suppose check your regular websites at around 3pm or later today to see if this is true.
-
Insider has reported that the LE has sold out. Hopefully AMD have secured a few and not going to over inflate the price too much.
Bummer for us.
Insider has also said press release definitely late today (Chicago time) so could be between 8am and 4pm our time???
-
Inside stated
"My info this morning was they would be out today.
Just this evening my current info is they will be out Thursday at some point.
In a great new move by Stern, they want everything complete, pics, all info in the press release and all models shown all at once for customers to see and know up front. That's the latest word, don't shoot the messenger I'm just reporting for y'all.
I haven't seen the pics and want to see them as bad as everyone else. "
I am still hoping that Stern is watching the various forums and re-thinking that maybe they should do a premium (hoping they do a premium = pro looking cabinet and backglass with the LE full featured playfield) Otherwise not a smart move by GS - as he will lose support and so many sales ebcause of gameplay and opportunity to the general public to own one.
-
Update from insider is that LE's will be shipped out the end of June / early July.
And Avenger due to be released around September.
-
I hope pics surface soon, this is dragging on longer than that crappy LOST show...sheesh.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As Most of you have seen by now Stern Pinball Inc. Has announced its latest game X-MEN! I have attached a Few pictures to this email but here is the Quick and Dirty of it.
This pinball will come in 3 Versions, 2 LE and 1 Pro Version.
The 2 Limited Versions will be Good - Wolverine(Blue Trim) and Evil - Magneto(Red Trim)
LE Versions Will Feature a Real Glass Mirrored back glass where the Pro will have a Standard trans light back glass.
From Stern's Anouncement:
"Our X-Men Pinball is based on the Comic Books, which have a tremendous
fan and collector following. The theme and art lend themselves to
Pinball. The art on our X-Men pinball is fantastic, bright, different
than any recent games. This game has a lot of mechanical action, with
great devices, magnets, etc.
We will make X-Men in 3 versions: 300 Wolverine numbered Limited
Editions, 250 Magneto numbered Limited Editions, and a Pro model.
I am attaching photos of the 2 Limited Edition models and the Pro, along
with a Features Chart. High res pictures are available at
http://www.sternpinball.com/XMen/XMenPinballPhotos.zip
The game photos show the right side of each game, there being some
different art and characters on the left side. X-Men Wolverine LE has
blue trim; X-Men Magneto LE has red trim.
There are 3 playfield pictures. One is the Pro playfield. Two pictures
are of the LE playfield; one has the right ramp in its normal position,
and one is showing the movement of the right ramp.
X-Men Limited Edition production will begin at the end of June. Pro
production will begin at the beginning of August, timed to reach our
export markets as the September selling season begins. "

a few more pictures and details at pingame
http://www.pingamejournal.com/update/
and they have priced listed as:
Pricing and Availability:
LE Model $7999 MSRP
Pro Model $5699 MSRP
That stated I doubt we will see a pro under $6k, more like the regular $6.6k or more.
-
Not sure what they meant by the traditional lock down bar but then they are aiming the pro for the operator so it must be the regular one ????
I reckon a pro with a custom blue trim, mirror blades and leds would look good, I could live without the moving ramp and I think it allows you to see the flipper for the ramp shot. The spinning disc would be cool but wonder how much damage it could cause. And the night crawlers would have been good on the pro but probably slow the game down a little but flip side the game losses a little bit of variety with them not there.
Don't know if it is the angle but the 2 figures seem just a little on the large side ????

and some more info and comparisons at

Nah, the big figurines suit a comic boik themed game
-
The pro cab looks the best out of all of them imo, artwork on all of them is very cool.
What is this "new toy that has never been seen before"?.....I can't see anything new.
Playfield looks crowded and could slow the game down, the nightcrawler pop ups look cheap and nasty.
Moving ramp looks very strange, I thought there would be a X crossover ramp for sure, that would suit the theme better.
Great looking game artwise, lets hope it plays and sounds well too.
-
luke just ordered a Wolverine LE and going to be sited in Newcastle #*#
LE. Price $8950 Inc gst. Here end July.

Still have to wait and see gameplay vids with sound etc but I think this will be a case where the pro will be a better player than the LE.

front view to give another perspective of the figures etc

I really like the look of the last photo, except for the dopey grins on wolverine and magneto..well they look like that way to me, I could be wrong.
The flow looks really good...looking forward to gameplay vids with audio. ^^^
I wonder if it is going to be mode based or character based or both? !@#
I could be a goer at the pro the more I think about it and look at it...the LE are not worth the xtra 2+k imo for what you get but I could be wrong.

Quite a LOT of people at most internet sites are saying the kudos/value for $ goes to the Pro version – and I agree 100%
Why would you pay 2+k more for some ‘trolls’ that are in reality pop up ‘boxes’ and a spinning disc and moving ramp – especially when the artwork on the pro is MUCH better as well.

The best thing about this is I don't have to order one right now sight unseen and unplayed. I can wait for it to be released and then go and play it and judge for myself without having to worry if it has been sold out or not as there should be plenty of pros available. ^^^
-
I just got a email from AMD and apparently if the aus dollar stays around even to the US the price on the pro will be around $6200 gst included.
Bargain if the game turns out to be a winner. ^^^

got love photoshop or lack of.
Have a close look at the shooter lane on the timbers and there are 2 sets of holes visible - so playfields must have all been Pro ( the Nightcrawler Photo Shopped in ) and then pulled off the right side plastic ramp and installed the swinging one (or did they). A shame they didn't PS the holes out.
So maybe the the night crawler graphic / model may still change a little.
Also it looks like the swinging ramp may Wipe Out the slingshot posted light ???

Haven't played X-Men yet obviously..... but it wouldn't take much to be better than ACDC Pro, that game is just plain ugly and plays like the boat anchor it is.

inside said this today:
"I'm hearing that the all the custom dot work by Galvez is another over the top job and cool as hell like AC/DC. As well as David Thiel utilizing the double memory capacity for the sounds package. Ever character has it's own tune and mode. Deep rule set."
-
mnpinball said
"The VUK exit is angled toward the player and is a fast return to the left flipper.
The right slide bridge is a fast acting ramp, not a slow toy like LAH quite the opposite
The Magneto center lock can be locked either by the right loop or left inner loop, I can't wait to see this in action as it has many possiblities with multiple balls in there as a captive to hit."
-
a pinsider went to the recent pinball show and saw a presentation by David Thiel who did the sound for X-Men said this
"I watched the David Thiel interview last night and there was some new information in it.
* He mentioned having 9 villains and 9 heroes, each with their own mode and music. (Confirms what we've heard, and is almost more than is represented by inserts.)
* Mentioned wizard modes, plural.
* He referenced many times that the "young guys" had lead on the code with support by both Lonnie and Lyman, primarily Lonnie, and that they were big fanboys and focused on authenticity.
* He personally watched like 40 hours of XM movies and animated shows, plus read lots of comics, so he could get it right.
* He used putting Lady Deathstrike together as an example of a character that needed research -- interesting because she's got no insert, is more of a Wolvie villain, and I don't think is even on any of the cabs."

Looks mental all lit up, I hope the audio and dots are going to go off like a frog in a sock!

It's going to be a very HOT game. No premiums, the comic book collectors getting in late on the news of this game, lots of mechanical action, sweet custom dots and music, a young new team that loves the theme and "knows" the theme, it all adds up to a big win ! Oh, and more than meets the eye in software, lots of mini modes and things not in the inserts Multiple mini wizard modes etc.... It will be a $10k pin I predict by Christmas (in the US). Supply/demand will drive it.
The whole software team is in on this, The new young guys Waison and Mike are big comic guys and Lyman, Lonnie are also helping with code. Mark Galvez is doing an awesome job on custom dots. David Thiel is creating a huge sound package utilizing the expanded memory capabilities. Each character has it's own tune and there are secret hidden modes as well.
-
Cmon Stern get a video of the gameplay out for us to see already!
-
This is what shits me with Stern marketing
Sold out in US to distributors
How can you buy a 9k item without checking it out first

My wish is that all pins would be cirqus voltaire style either dmd or lcd or whatever the next fad is in the players line of sight, I don't really care which one it is but a LCD screen taking up the majority of the backglass looks really stupid. So as long as the dmd/lcd whatever is visible close to the playfield on a fast game that will do me.
-
Bring on some X-men gameplay videos!!!
-
I agree with you Daz, have a backglass and then the lcd / dmd in the back of the playfield though may restrict some play field designs.
-
here is a facbook photo from Stern showing their range of toys plus a few possible teasers of inspirational toys. The X-men toys are not that big in the scheme of things.
-

Just innovate the pf around the display if it were to become an issue.
-
just in case anyone was curious about the backglasses:
from pin side: "Stern won't sell LE backglasses. And if yours breaks, you have to send whatever is left of it back to them to get a replacement.
The Pro translites are another matter, you can order those from just about any Stern parts distributor."

Sounds like that might be a recipe for pf wear.

I am hearing a few Aussies are canceling their LE orders, price is just getting to high.
On the flip side I reckon once the lcd's come out the price of a LE stern will be around 10k, so this may be one of the last better buys for pro and LE before they turn into a LCD.

Too much spent on acdc maybe and the fact that many bought multiple acdc le in the hope of making big profits off the sale of one, only to be stuck with them.
As I said before, I hope the numbers on this title here are low!
-
Pinball themes will fluctuate in popularity over time. ACDC will climb in popularity with the bands next album and tour and then may drop again when the band winds down a bit. The true test of a collectable and highly sought after pin may not be seen for at least ten years. If the game play and rules remain a challenge and the theme remains relevant and fresh, a well maintained pin will hold its value.
-
I think the X-Men brochure looks great, and the machine looks great as well. ^^^
-
All we need now is a gameplay video, that would be sweet.
I am really looking forward to see how the the nightcrawler pop ups, the spinning disc and the ice slide moving ramps intergrate into gameplay on the LE as well as audio and display. I think this will be a great player...fingers crossed.

Fair enough too, it's a lot of $$$ to shell out on faith alone.

Some LE shots, colours look good and the night crawler pop ups are very similar to the Iron Monger in the way of being hit at the sides and the polycarbonate lid.

ARE there any members who are seriously thinking of purchasing the X-Men title brand new from AMD etc ?
I am curious to know how many collectors/players are thinking hard about it ? !@# !@# !@#
(I am thinking about a PRO but will only purchase after playing and getting 100 percent confirmation on the Pro pricing) I think the audio and dots on the DMD will make or break this title. The Tron dots n audio wasnt great at all which is why that title wasnt a big seller, AC/DC was on the other end of the scale with excellent dots n audio, so this X-Men has to be fully loaded with the right software and audio to make it better than any before it.
Do u think this is the key to better sales of this model ?
Who else is thinking about buying one, and which title, a LE or a Pro ? !@# !@# !@#

Jury is still out on the code, it looks like this game will be a cross of reverse tron layout with a TF style code and those custom dots don't have me jumping for joy.
-
With a bit of luck there should be a gameplay vid out soon.
I hope the gameplay and audio are top shelf.

They were filming in the last 12 hours rumoured not to be released until end of next week.

9k for NIb today is alot of dough so it better be good like ACDC BIB to justify $$!

A pinsider was at the factory on the weekend and was lucky enough to play the LE so left a little review after playing 3 games.
"My wife and I were in Chicago over the weekend and we decided to see the Stern factory before we drove back home. We had a tour set up yesterday with Jody (sp?) but due to the storms in the area on sunday there were some power issues and some of the front office folks were not around. I was about to hang my head and leave when out of nowhere the man himself Mr. Gary Stern walks out of the office and says he will take us on a tour, but he needed a few minutes so he let us go into this dark little game room and behold there is a Wolverine LE sitting there. We got to play a few games while he finished up some work and then gave us a tour of the place. I was a little in awe the whole time....it was awesome and I could not thank Gary enough for taking time out of his day for us!
Now for the good stuff. I'm still a bit of a noob but I tried to pay attention while we played. Here's what I do know:
- We started a 2 ball and a 3 ball Magneto multiball.
- The spinner is similar to Twister when multiball is started, but it does seem to spin a tad slower and the balls don't whip around quite as violently. Also, the spinner seemed to kick on quite a bit so it seemed pretty integral....i'm not sure I'd want the Pro after playing the LE.
- I got the Nightcrawler pop ups started once but lost my ball right away. They did pop up and down one at a time pretty quickly.
- I hit the Iceman ramp a few times but never got the ramp to move.
- I would compare the Wolverine bash toy to the Balrog in LOTR. It seemed kinda big at first but after playing I don't think you'd want him to be any smaller.
- Gary said the LE's will start shipping at the end of this week. (I have the Wolverine LE on order so was happy to hear this)
- I also asked him if the next pin is Avengers and he said the next pin will be..............."released in the fall". At least I tried "
in addition some info has been leaked out that 115 of Wolverine and 115 Magneto will be going overseas - so suppose only AMD could tell us how many of those made it to Aus.
-
u are a champion swinksy, that is excellent information. this title looks terriffic. i just hope the pro version is still a fun game for those who chose to purchase.
keep the great updates coming. ! ^^^

Good informative video, looks like a great game, ashame we didn't watch a full game to get a sense of the sound package. Also noticed wolverine rotating to the left - wonder if he rotates back to the right at various stages.
-
Need a full game video with audio, the code is probably nowhere near done but it otherwise looks pretty good.
Magneto call outs sound like Ron Burgandy.
-
Theme not for me but it does have some cool toys and looks quite fast can't wait to see more videos though.

I love the theme but my gut tells me something is not quite right with this pin, I will wait and see how it plays.

Theme doesn't rock my boat either! interested to see some videos of gameplay.

There is a rumor that a x-men pro will be at this years comic-con.
Hopefully there will be some proper gameplay video up soon.

-
Well done again Swinksy for your top efforts. Both videos are great. The machine looks very good indeed.
Its making me think that STERN should make the PRO version with the LEDs. I could live with a PRO if it had LEDS that changed colour etc like the LE version, but i am assuming that even if u put LEDS into a PRO yourself, without the control software added like the LE, its not going to give the same lighting.
* If only STERN started incorporating some of these newer technologies into the PRO versions as well, they would sell alot more machines.
Time will tell with the PRO version of X-Men ?
-
I caught this on pinside as well, thanks for posting here.
The LE looks great with the colour changing leds. The spinning magnet disc and ice ramp look very sweet as well. Look like this will be very fast and unpredictable to play!
Would like to see some more with the nightcrawlers, wolverine and some more modes but all in all it's a beauty.
The call outs and audio suit better now when intergrated compared to the stern teaser.
The code looks very incomplete though, some voice calls doubling up etc but that is always the way with Stern so updates should be cool to see the progression becuase there is heaps of potential there. Lets hope they finnsih the code properly like sm, tron and im and don't leave it hanging in the breeze like they are prone to do on most titles.
There is a short..very short video of the pro on pinside as well from comic con but I think the LE is the one to grab here, it has too many extra features that effect gameplay to ignore.
-
Looks for mine to be the same as ACDC,in my opinion a good game but not a great game.I could have purchased either of those titles, but i cannot see the value for money in any of them.I got sick of waiting for Stern to release something with a WOW factor and decided to spend my money on other titles.I am very happy with the huo POTC i picked up recently for half the money Stern want for the last 2 releases.I was down for an X-Men LE until i seen the pics, then i told AMD to put me down for the pro,but after thinking it over i decided to give both a miss.I hope everyone who buys this title enjoys it,but for me a NIB is still to happen.
-
This game also supposed to pack 1000 call outs as it has the same memory size as the AC/DC.
The lighting and action look good, looking forward to a game of a LE but also the pro as keen for one of those.
-
Hmm, I think you might be missing a Great game punter :)
I feel that this will out live AC/DC
But just my opinion ;)

Great idea and suits the theme perfectly, maybe that's why there are no jackpot call outs on the video ie to obtain jackpot you need to defeat magneto. !@#

The pro looks very cool too even without the spinning disk and the iceman ramp, the ball drop from the magnet works well. No sign of nightcrawlers yet on either model, must be later in the code?
Looks like the pro had a code update compared to the LE videos, still some double ups on the call outs etc but the game is building very nicely.
I take back what I said earlier about the custom dots, they look great after seeing some more in action.
-
For those interested -
X-Men graphic (comic) novel book released just yesterday at the newsagent - supposed to be where it started.
-
Being reading alot of other forums and many are having issues with spinning disk and wolverine figure hands blocking ramp plus many other issues especially code. Pro is being considered are better option with the Pro. Kiss is also a rumour being talked about!! If so deposit will be made yesterday!

Nightcrawler issues as well wih possible pf wear down the rd from both nightcrawlers and spinning disc and the general feeling on the iceramp is it is pretty lame too.
My inital thought was the LE was the wtg but it looks like the pro will be the better machine. I will wait for avengers, there will still be plenty of new x-men pros around when avengers is released next( looks like it will be ready for xmas)
Kiss I can live without big time just like led zep but I can see why many would be keen on one.

X Men Pro shld be arriving at Bruce's - AMD this next fortnight.
I think the PRO will be popular on this model because people can get into it for just over $6,000 ($6200 as listed to date).
I am most looking forward to how the pixels on the cabinet look. Code will be updated in time, so no great hassle there. Really looking forward to see how the playfield/general play feels on the PRO model.

I think like most games , you really need to walk up to it, see it and spend some serious time on it yourself - then judge it.
The game is actually getting a load of positive reviews from those that have done that so far.
Like all, time will tell :D
-
If its even 75 percent as good as AC/DC was etc, it will be a fine game in any form. LE or Pro.
Between the great colours, artwork, audio and dot matrix displays, Xmen looks like a fun game.
If u like the theme, its hard to knock any recent Stern pinballs. Avatar, Tron, AC/DC, X-Men, thay all look and play extremely well if u like the theme.
Dislike the theme, and its easy to find fault i guess.
As long as Stern survives, and we are spoilt with new titles each n every year, I say support Stern and hope for more fun pinball machines being designed and sold.
Long live Pinball ! ^^^

If they add Combos, Hurry Ups and a Deadpool feature I will be very help.
Nothing on the readme file yet.
There is a rumor of a Villian inside danger room in this update, perhaps deadpool is in there?
Villains and Heros can now run together as well.

ok, cool, will have to update my X Men today as well. ^^^

The villain in Danger Room I have been told is the X-Men character Danger, which is very fitting. Sorry, mucked up the above post.

Glad you xmeners got an update enjoy.

I did my x men update, noticed some different music already, as well as some new voice overs, a few new dmd annimations, but will have to have a few super long games to notice more stuff.
Funnily enough, i put the acdc update USB in by accident, and the machine did not like it at all.lol ooops ! I quickly changed USB sticks after the full acdc usb update went thru, then it was back to the normal with x men usb and everything fixed itself. @.@

Yep makes total sense.
I am enjoying the new update, I think they are now on the right track.
Nightcrawler is poping up a bit too much, a good idea to use him randomly instead of the blackbird shot but it should not be overdone.
A few more tweaks here and there, add the combo scoring and reveal deadpool, then it will be brilliant.

Great to hear that the update is positive. Can't wait to get home to upload mine. Not hearing Wolverine's voice all the time is going to be a big bonus in itself.

Yep Wolvie is toned down.
I really like having a hero and a villian mode going at the same time, it is adding to the rush that the game needs.
It is getting there, hopefully stern dont decide that this it for x, it is so close to being exactly what the game should represent.
Fingers crossed for one more update to nail it.

Yup... a very good up date... Combo's.... need combo's !*!

Word on the pinside street is a code update soon, hopefully some common sense prevails and combos are written in.
Combo shots on x-men are insane fun when they can be hit and they deserve to be rewarded. They should have been there from day one!
Maybe deadpool could finally make an appearance as well, not too much ask.

This update is a massive step forward for this game.
Long time coming but congrats to Stern on finally delivering a quality code to a quality table.
One more update to polish it up and it's done. One of the best games ever made now by far.

Dam, now I have to update code again. Thanks for the heads up.
Wish it could be done by plugging in a telephone line n just do a site to site download.......bloody USB sticks n computers...shits me to tears sometimes...
-
......bloody USB sticks n computers...shits me to tears sometimes...
Yep. That's why my AC/DC still has the same code as the day it arrived new.

Yep. That's why my AC/DC still has the same code as the day it arrived new.
Its easiest to just ring AMD, ask for the updated latest code already done on a USB stick. Then follow the instructions, bloody simple, then the ACDC game plays magically much much better with so many new dmd annimations n audio n better rules etc. For a ACDC its a must for the l;atest code. Worth the small $$. Email Michael at AMD.
In the past I have done the download thing n stuffed around for my new sterns, but I couldn't be stuffed anymore so I would rather just pay AMD the lousy $10 n plug the latest USB straight in after they burn n post me one out. Give that a go mate. Well worth it. That's what I will do now for my X Men. Getting lazy n old.lol
-
Thanks Brett. I didn't know AMD did that.
-
^^^ just email Michael n give him a credit card no, type of card, name on card, expiry n ccv number n your phone number n a postal address.
works for me everytime on stacks of stern spare parts. arrives everytime n very quick with great postage.

Changing game code on sterns is piss easy.
No one is as bad as me when it comes to doing stuff on pins and even I can update the game code.
.
-
The latest version of 1.3 that is on the stern website now is a scaled down version of the original 1.3 code.
The original 1.3 code has more mutant combos that were not licenced by Marvel and is much better.

Shit you are missing out on some cool stuff :-) when I read your post I nearly spat my beer out lol that's unless you bought it yesterday :-)
Peter

Maybe I should update it. I bought it new back in September 2012.

Stern have enough stock for another X Men Pro re-run. Maybe a diff translite like Tron or stay with original. The pinball is a cracker, the movie looks like a cracker.
Big screen, here we come ! ^^^

Turned me off the xmen films and hollywood for good!

That's absolutely sick .

sounds like a money grab $$$ just before the next X Men movie is about to hit. Why wait now, at 31 yrs of age, and not when the last 2 films were being made. Just my honest opinion.
If the abuse is true and proven, ofcourse lock someone up, but its a shame this bad press is coming out at a time when the next X Men movie looks like the best one of them all.
I will try n find a link to some more of the soon to be released X Men movie. It looks like it will be great. Hope Stern put out some more X Men Pros as the first batchs all got gobbled up.
