Title: Any poker players here?
Post by: Cow Corner on July 10, 2012, 03:02:32 PM
I like a little bit of online poker for fun and a little bit of $$ won or lost, also play reguarly with friends in small cash games and every now and then hit the tables at the casino to try my luck and test my limited skills.
I have a mate who quit his job a few years ago and is now playing for a living, he has cashed in at the last 2 wsop events in vegas, not final table or anything that huge but more than double his buy in fees both times. He also does very well at online poker, not a bad effort at all imo.
Any poker players amongst the pinheads?

Hi,

used to play in the APL when it first started. 1 a tournament and was on the final table many times at various venues. Seversal othe rfirms have started and it's just too boring now. All sorts of rules peculair to that Club. Buy dinner and get 1500 free chips etc. People do stupid things hoping they can get a quick 5000 in chips then coast. Or they grab a voucher out of their pockets for another 1500 chips and start again. Stuff that!

Used to play on line and won a few hundred then got out. A mate won 100K on some Pokerstars tourny.

Mates play regularly on Pokerstars and go alright (they say. Im not sure if they have or havent). Friend just came second in a decent sized tournament in Vegas. Won 410K! 2700 or so entrants. $1500 entry fee. 1st prize was 660K and  a car. Watched him on line via some streaming thingy.

At casinos for hold-em etc the stakes are usually too high. I used to play blackjack a lot and attended some tournaments around the country. You can't find a table at any casino that Ive visited in the last 10 years where you can sit down and play properly as there are too many mongs at the table off setting the cards. I walk around and around trying to sit down but there are idiots taking insurance and a range of instant tells, that this table has nfi people! Hence why pros and card counters etc play mid week during the day where you can find a table to yourself.
